《Stuck in a zombie world with an OP shop》Chapter 39

Ryan and Mindy use their teleport skill to travel down route 20. It takes almost two hours, but the pair eventually reach Amherstburg and take a short break. They spent a few minutes after each teleport to kill all the zombies nearby. Mindy used energy beams from her cosplay to disintegrate zombies, but Ryan preferred to use the SCAR-H.
The energy blast allowed Ryan to kill zombies quickly and easily, but it did not give him a satisfying kick after he launched it. The abilities of Ultra Woman felt too much like an 'I-win' button, which Ryan didn't like. He didn't want to chance loosing, but he wanted something to make his blood rush. Mainly, he wanted something to take his mind off his failure to protect his parents.
On their break, Ryan has his first combat experience with a giant zombie. The ones in Amherstburg were spread out when the two of them arrived, but came together to support each other when attacking Ryan and Mindy.
As if they planned it, four giants come running at Ryan and Mindy from all outlets of an intersection. Since the giants are so large, and move so much faster than the smaller zombies and brutes, a wave of brutes and normal zombies lags behind them.
When the giants reach within a hundred feet of Ryan and Mindy, they jump into the air. Their leg muscles tense and balloon up in size, then the giants jump several tens of feet into the air. Before they can descend, Ryan and Mindy target two giants each and obliterate them with energy blasts.
Body parts from the annihilated giants rain down on streets and buildings, and the horde of zombies and brutes slow to a stop. They stare for a few moments at Ryan and Mindy, who have both teleport to the roofs of separate nearby buildings.

"Dammit!" Mindy yells and wipes gore off her spandex cosplay. Though the two missed most of the falling carnage, some still splashed on them.
'Purchase, twenty hot water,' Ryan thinks, and twenty gallons of water pour over him, cleaning most of his clothes.
Seeing Mindy in distress, Ryan teleports to her and helps her clean off.
"Really convenient," Mindy comments as Ryan dumps water on her. "Can you get me a few towels too?"
"Sure, no problem," Ryan replies and buys the items for Mindy.
"Gah, ger, greh, gah!" Sounds come from the streets down below, and Ryan walks to the edge of the roof to look down.
Around the building they're standing on, zombies and brutes gather into groups and chant their strange song. Near the base of the building, a brute picks up a zombie by its chest and around the ankles, then throws it up at Ryan. In unison, dozens of brutes emulate the action of the first, throwing zombies to the roof of the building.
"We've got incoming," Ryan warns and takes several steps towards Mindy after shooting a energy blast at the ground.
"What?" Mindy says, looking out from between towels that she's rubbing her head with. As she does, a zombie hits her and bounces off. "Ah!"
Mindy kills zombies with her energy blasts, and Ryan kills the zombies with his SCAR-H. Mindy's energy blasts are slower than Ryan's bullets, but kill the zombies in just one shot. Though Ryan needs to use multiple bullets per zombie, he doesn't take any more time per zombie than Mindy.
When the raining zombies stop, Ryan and Mindy look down at the streets of Amherstburg to see the brutes fleeing. There are no longer any normal zombies on the streets, all of them having been thrown by the brutes.
"The zombies are getting smarter," Ryan says.
"They're strategizing," Mindy comments, shooting energy blasts at the fleeing brutes.
Some of the brutes are vaporized, but some sustain only minor injuries. Of these, the uninjured brutes help pull them away from danger.
