(A week before Chapter 22)
Today was an interesting day. Emia had been working with the nurses for a while now, but today had a few hours put aside as a Genetor from the Adeptus Mechanicus had sent hundreds of acolytes to medics of the Imperium in this sector to prepare them for the onset of a new illness. For the reputation of the Mechanicus, the man that arrived in the makeshift lecture hall seemed decidedly unaugmented. Much like the nurses here, he seemed tired, human, and yet burning with a dedicated passion to see his work through regardless of the mental or physical cost to himself. He set himself up on the literal soapbox and began to speak with a confident passion about him.
"Good morning. I am Doctor Li Wenliang, Acolyte to Genetor Maiz. A new outbreak on Chora III has sparked a medical crisis on the planet, and my superior thought to curtail the flow of any infection beyond the planet by readying the medical inferstructure of other nearby planets in case any cases are reported. Understandably, these measures are difficult to enact with a Hive city, but to not try is folly of the highest order.
The symptoms of this disease are numerous. The most common and persistent symptoms include a bad cough and a high, fever-like temprature. Additional adverse effects have been reported on case by case but these are not systematic enough to be designated as actual symtpoms. The incubation period and symptoms similar to the flu make it difficult to catch, but it is advised to treat a flu, as this new virus. The symptoms do not seem much, and in many cases are not much, but treating this virus without the care and attention it deserves can and has led to deaths already.

Forge World Ajax is currently processing orders for the sector and is moving priority to ensure that a flow of medical goods reaches Chora and it's immediate neighbours. Freight Captains and Independant contractors are working around the clock to ensure that the needed goods flow properly in this time of crisis, but your support will help them, and help yourself. The Ajax Genetors have convened and condensed infomation for how to most effectively deal with this virus.I hope you do not have to use this, but forewarned, is forearmed. And maybe forearmed, you can hold off the infection spreading.
Firstly, masks do not protect you from this virus. At most they protect other people from you spreading it by sneezing. Secondly, gloves protect you only at the point of contact, and may not protect others. Adivsable to change your gloves every patient to minimalize spread. We will be delivering disposal gloves shortly by freighter. Soap and hot water are another strong contender against the virus, as is medical sanitizer"
The acoylte would then stop his lecture for the moment and display to the crowd and intricate and in-depth handwashing technique, approved by the Ajax Genetors. When he was finished with that, he continued.
"Burning the infected people in fire is an effective way to deal with the virus, but an ineffective way to maintain a workforce, so it is inadvisable. Instead, all none essensial personnel should stay in their hab-blocks, endevour to stay two meters away from other people at all times, and reduce contact as possible. Many of you have come from across this planet to aid in the war front, so I will be obliged for you to spread the knowledge to other people in your lands when you return. Should everyone come together and follow the designated rules, we shall be free of this infection with minimal loss of life"

The Acolyte would gracefully nod, and then step down from his box, and allow the nurses to go about their business.

Heroes Die First
It was after World War Two ended; rumors spread of people wielding amazing powers or mutating into horrifying monsters. Seventy years later, heroes and villains dominate the news and battle in the streets, discrimination drives mutants into the criminal lifestyle, and the governments of the world are struggling to handle the rapidly shifting paradigm. If you don't mind risking being sent to prison and being hunted by heroes and other villains. Max, not being an idiot, does mind both of those things. Instead of being a hero or being a villain, Max decides to take the third option, to be a vigilante! His plan? To hit the criminals in the gut and run off with their money, making the world a bit brighter at the same time by taking down the bad guys. But how long can he actually manage alone? Can he really navigate through the dangerous world of supers and capes without declaring for either heroes or villains? Or will he be sucked into the web of plots and drama that is the life of those with superpowers? (Cover photo by Sebastiaan Stam, downloaded from Unsplash)

The Ingress Estate
Jonathon Eucole. Soldier. Scholar. Now an Initiate, the dedication without dedication, he finds himself both prisoner and master of an arcane edifice, the Ingress Estate, which can neither be escaped, nor controlled; only diverted, maintained, and pacified. This is a gothic fantasy story, set in a world in which gods and the afterlife are not only real and known, but were both established in living memory of some of the inhabitants after millennia of arcane warfare with the being who constructed the mundane reality the humans occupy. But this isn't the story of those who colonized the afterlife at the cost of their own humanity, but a somewhat more ordinary man, in somewhat extraordinary circumstances. This is also a LitRPG-lite, which means there's a system of sorts, fragments of which can be observed through Jonathon's eyes. Don't expect level-up screens, or statistics, or indeed numbers much at all, beyond those the inhabitants of the world itself apply to understanding their own reality. It pretty much doesn't matter to the story, I mention it so those who don't want to read LitRPG at all can successfully avoid it here. I don't have any particular plan here, just some ideas inherent in the genre. This is a character concept I toyed with some years ago; an old man, bright of mind but weighed down into apathy, both by his past and his responsibilities for a terrible estate that cannot be left without stewardship. Don't expect any kind of overarching plot or story, because that's really not what this is about. Also don't expect much dialogue. Or character development. Or much of anything, really, because I've planned nothing in the way of an actual book, here. Other relevant information, if you've read this far for some reason: The MC isn't super-powerful to begin with, and probably never will be. He's a veteran with some useful skills, and the insight on how to use them, so can deal with the world's ordinary threats reasonably well, but not too much beyond that. --- Currently on hiatus, as currently the story has a rather poor ratio of effort-to-personal-payoff. I may return to this once I have a clear idea of how to get the stories where I want them. I've started a more standard LitRPG using the same system. But if you like intelligence characters who cleverly min-max their classes, it probably isn't the story for you; it's the story of a rather ordinary guy who winds up in a very similar universe.
