《My Little Husky Assistant》Chapter 35: Jaeger Hansmend Ville

A man with black long hair wearing an unzipped black leather jacket and black Jean with holes on each knee and chains dangling outside his pocket, marched through the silent hallway, accompanied by two stern soldiers whose faces were hidden by the shadow of their caps. The chains connecting his hands and his feets jingled as they swung and engaged with the cold surface of the tiled floor. The hallway was dimly lit by the burning amber flame of candles with the wax melted on their own plates.
One of the soldiers grabbed the long silver vertical handle of the dark green wooden door and pushed it forward. He repeated it on the second door. As they walked in along the aisle, malice eyes from the darkness and from the dimly lit C-shaped table stared at them. The black hair man gazed through the darkness, he couldn't see them with his bare eyes but he could feel their cold presence. The silence made his ears ringing with high-pitched sound, the knocking sound of their shoe soles echoed throughout the hall and his beating heart could be heard pumping more blood.
He was obliged to stand on the circle with black fences around it, situated in the middle of the C-shaped table. Bright white light of the spotlight above him suddenly lit up, hurting his eyes and forcing him to block the ray with his palm. Another bright light from a spotlight struck on a bald middle aged man who sat at the end of the table, then another spotlight struck another member beside him and followed by the rest. The black hair man scrutinized every hidden furious face, masked by their serious and straight faces.
"Jaeger Hansmend Ville," said the white and long straight hair woman wearing white dress, showing off her bosom with golden and shiny jewelries lace on her forehead and gold and silver choker strangled her thin neck, while clutching her hands on the table.
"Ah, if it isn't Lady Gabrielle, the sentinel chief councill. Of what crime I've committed to be summoned by the lady?" Jaeger chuckled but his eyes glaring at her like an eagle hunting for a mouse.
"Crime? It's a felony you have committed! We have no other reason to let you proceed violating the law as a chosen sentinel!" A bald old man whose head shone under the spotlight, wearing black with dark purple stripe coat and huge frilly white collar around his neck, interrupted with an angry tone.

Jaeger could hear the chittering voices from the darkness who may had discussed, praised him and even insulted him. He was disgusted by their dishonest revulsion, nobody had the audacity to insult someone in their faces but Infront of their back. He was disgusted by human's pathetic manner and method to judge, all he ever wanted at that time was justice.
"Of what felony, Lord Fishville?" Jaeger asked, hiding his anger in his tightened fist.
"You have taken the oath and vows as a sentinel to only use your weapon to slay vampires roaming on human lands, it is your own vows you neglected to follow. Slaying innocent civilians for satisfactory purposes is against the world's law," Gabrielle continued with a calm tone.
"Satisfactory purposes aren't my mission, but it is justice that people neglect to see! Justice, my lady, is what I've sought, I've sworn with my sword to fulfill my heart's desire with justice," Jaeger explained when he was surreptitiously almost in tears.
"Don't ever use the word justice over nefarious, Mr Ville!" A woman of thirty with long wavy black hair, turquoise cold eyes and dark brown complexion in white dress which exposed her shoulders and large breasts, interrupted with a sudden rage. "If it is justice that you seek then trivial sacrifices shall be insufficient or even neglected, at once!"
"It isn't trivial yet, it's a crucial exhibition of true justice that people are so blind of, Lady Grovriarér! Sacrifices are part of them as it is the quintessence of destroying darkness amongst humanity," Jaeger refuted and clenched his teeth.
The council members bent their bodies and discussed with the other members beside them. He could hear their chittering and whispering voices as the silence took over. He averted his eyes and set them on the huge chronometer with shiny copper gears rotating in its inner body on the wall as its long and thin finger tolled itself, pointing to the Romanian number XII. He moved his iris to Lady Hajikata, a Japanese middle aged woman wearing a royal blue kimono, as she suddenly mentioned his name.
"It seems that you have inadequate knowledge of the term justice, Jaeger-kun," Lady Hajikata depicted confidently. "I'm afraid that we should dismiss the term 'destroying darkness amongst humanity' as it's preposterous; it absolutely has no connexion with our interpretation. We do not expect a sensible man to have such a mindset to begin with, we are hoping for more from your conscience."

"As in addition, Mr Ville, you may want to recall back that we have refrained you twice before this trial has been made for you; we have warned you to stop whatever you are currently doing. The council won't just sit here and do nothing when you have dismissed our precautions," added Lord Gregory, a man of fifty wearing purple costumes with frilly collar and purple beret with red feather attached on the side, mimicking King Henry VII fashion.
"Codswallop, everyone here including the sentinel council members are nonsense! I'm aware of the warnings and I followed every written procedure. What did I do wrong? Tell me?! Imagine a family of a pair of a married couple and a child, the father tries to threaten his own family with a sentence of death and harms them. To survive, his wife kills him. We were told by the ancient people, even by the Lord of Heaven itself, to encourage us to fight back what is threatening, is the woman still guilty?" Jaeger snarled and clenched his teeth furiously, he was inaudibly peeved and disgusted.
"We understand your utterances, but the woman may not be sentenced for equity; she is guilty of killing her husband," Lady Grovriarér replied with hidden exasperation.
"Then," Jaeger glared at her. "You let the woman and her child die?"
Lady Grovriarér widened her eyes and gasped. She sighed and turned her head to the other council members and to Lady Gabrielle. She nodded as she guaranteed an agreement.
"She tries to justify justice to live; the death of her husband is in exchange for their life and safety. I would admit that the game is fair and square; the privileged survive and the commoners die, predators survive as their prey get sacrificed," he uttered a vague explanation.
"We could see no connexion or bridges between your definition and your elaboration. Not because we refuse to see or are blinded by misunderstanding but what you try to define exactly the opposite of what you think it is," Lord Fishville replied.
Jaeger bent his head down and stared at his palms with deep scratches and lines as he opened them. Lady Gabrielle turned her head to the left and glanced at each council member from that side as Thu all nodded. She turned her head to the opposite side and they nodded their heads too. She sighed and closed her eyes, easing herself from the argument. She opened her eyes and looked down at Jaeger who was numbed but fury burning his eyes.
"I am, Lady Gabrielle Cassiopeia Gringer, the chief sentinel council, sadly guaranteeing Jaeger Hansmend Ville retirement as a Science Sentinel and as the world's guardian. We are now voting for his retirement," Lady Gabrielle declared and threw a piece of thin copper sheet into a silver tray, held by a man in black suit.
The other members threw their copper sheet into the tray. Jaeger auspiciously widened his eyes and looked at each of them throwing their copper sheets into the tray in panic. Lady Grovriarér was the final member to throw the copper sheet into the tray. Jaeger eyes followed the movement of the sheet as it fall and twirled a few seconds before it fell on the tray. He fell on his knees and stared at the floor with his head spinning.
"The Science Sentinel's retirement is now officially guaranteed by all members. Jaeger Hansmend Ville, you no longer held the sovereign as a sentinel, you are now a civilian without the need to follow the sentinel's decree," depicted Lady Gabrielle.
He chuckled and muttered, "I swear that humanity will bow and kneel before me one day, they will honour me as a ruler and I'll slay all sentinel at once."
