《The Demon Lord who wished to be a Hero》Chapter 16 - So… Time to hit the road.

The walk back to the Village was more lively then the way to the town. The goblins had smiles on their faces. They had their vengeance.
I had mixed feelings about my people not having to stop anyone from escaping the town. The feeling of guilt from what I have done does not leave me. But I still feel the anger within my chest. Burning whenever I think about what happened. I guess this has to do with my new Bloodline, or could just be my genuine feeling about what happened.
No matter how much I think about it. It won’t solve anything, but will only further frustrate me and stress me out. There is nothing to gain but pain.
I can only look towards the future and hope I will not have to do something like this again. For me, my people and those in my path.
When we reach the village. We do a quick ceremony. The survivors may go up to their loved ones, say their final goodbyes, before we bury them so they may have their eternal rest.
The family members or even friends of the family would kneel before the their fallen kin, in a act akin to praying. After they prayed. They would sing this haunting tune. It sent chills up my spine. It was like a whining dog and a violin. It was oddly pleasant…
They all started to sing together. Nibbit and Mibbit even lowered their heads once they started singing all together. Seeing them do it, I quickly followed. In the end, the goblins where singing and everyone else either lowered their heads or kneeled if they were the undead.
I don’t know how long we stayed that way. But I was taken out of it when Nibbit shook me away. His eyes bloodshot, he didn’t look to be crying but he seems distressed.

“What was the song they were singing?” I ask.
“It was the song from our old country. A prayer for safe travelling to the afterlife, and asking for forgiveness, Sire.” He answers.
I nod my head to him. Looking around as the goblins talk amongst each other as the graves are being filled with dirt by the Death Knights. Once all the graves are filled we finish by putting a flower on each grave. A blue flower for children, a red one for the adults, and a yellow for the elderly.
With that, the village glows more brightly. Feeling less empty.
Sadly we will be going. Abandoning them once more.
I tell everyone to pack up anything they can find as we are leaving at dawn, to find a new home.
I do not hear any complaints to this.
Once dawn comes, all the goblins are now Hobgoblins. Another kick in the pants on what could've been if we were not attacked last night. It matters not now, as we will continue on.
Everyone is happy about the new changes, even Elrin is quite shocked at the change of evolution. Is it really that odd? How old is he again?
Everyone is ready to leave so we leave. Good memories and bad memories shall be left here. This was a place for a new beginning for a bunch of goblins who thought living less barbaric would prevent them from getting harmed but it still happened. Almost like the world wishes it so.
We begin are march South West. Erlin says it should be the closest way to the next country. However I have to take it with a grain of salt considering how old he is and what could’ve happened in the centuries he was stuck in that cave.

Before we leave I made sure to dismantle the village. Which is an ability I have as the ruler. It just makes it ownerless so someone else can control it. Perhaps another species will need a home and find it? I hope them the best of luck if they do.
It is only when we exit the forest do I get a message that if I continue leaving, I will lose my title of Boss of Twilight Forest. I accept it. If we are leaving how much behind, I will leave this as well.
To new beginnings. To new hope and a new life.

The Last Orellen (An Epic Progression Fantasy)
According to prophecy, the ninth-born child of Lord Orellen will have the sort of power that changes the world. But in a land ruled by mage families, no one welcomes the possibility of a dangerous new player. Fearful even of their allies, the Orellens come up with an extraordinary and deadly scheme to protect themselves. If the most powerful sorcerers in the world wish to kill the ninth-born, they will have to find him or her first. And that's not going to be easy when the Orellens have called upon dark magic to create hundreds of heirs. The boys and girls are given new bodies, new names, and even new magical talents before they are scattered across the continent. Only one among them is the real ninth, but all of them will have to grow up in a world where they are fugitives. Kalen, once fated to die, is now an Orellen heir in hiding. And he is determined to survive, even if he has to master his strange new powers to do it. The Last Orellen is a long, character-focused progression fantasy set in a vast universe about a boy's journey to become a powerful mage. Reviews are deeply appreciated. Please do not repost my work elsewhere without my written permission. What type of reader is this book for? You might enjoy The Last Orellen if you like... Clever and resourceful protagonists. Big fantasy worlds. Multiple cultures, lots of characters, many different types of magic--this story is expansive rather than closely focused on a narrow storyline. Progression fantasy that takes its time. Our main character will be progressing through magical ranks, but this is going to be a lengthy story. If you're more about the journey than the destination, this might be the book for you. [participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge]
