《Phoenix Rising》ARC 18: Chapter 618 - Monster Girl

The female monster girl roared so loudly that everyone clapped their hands over their ears to stop their eardrums from exploding because of how loud her roar was. That was not all, as the powerful force of wind unleashed from her roar caused a lot of the people to get blown away to the back and slam into the walls, knocking them out instantly. Some collapsed on the ground from the sheer fright as well as losing their footing as the ground shook with great intensity.
“What the?!” Nara exclaimed, staring wide eyed at the monster girl as she roared like a wild beast.
“What power!” Zen exclaimed, staring in shock at the girl releasing such an incredible amount of power.
After roaring, she took a fighting stance and kicked off the ground to rocket straight towards Zen at an unbelievable speed. The Phoenix Emperor watched in horror as she flew towards him before he could even react to defend himself. However, just as she pulled her clawed hand back and unleashed it at him, the War Titan got in between them and caught the enemy’s attack with his hand.
“Grrr!” Nara grunted from the slight pain as the force of catching such an attack surprised him.
As he caught the attack and stopped it, a powerful wind blew around them and caused even more people to get either blown away or collapse to the ground. Nara gritted his teeth as he held his ground and pushed against her attack while she was pushing hard against him with a monstrous expression on her face.
“GGGRRRRAAAAAAAAA!!!” She roared once more and used her remaining hand to hit him.
Nara reacted quickly and caught it as well, making them be at a standstill for a few seconds. Neither were able to move a centimetre from there and this made the War Titan resort to something that she would not be expecting.
“You’re not the only one who can RRRRRRRROOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!”
He let out a violent roar so loudly that she flinched by the sudden attack and lost her grip. Taking her momentary distraction, Nara immediately unleashed a barrage of blows all over her body by punching and kicking at an alarming speed. In the span of a few seconds, she was gushing blood from all over her body as the hits he delat caused serious injuries for her.
Finally, he punched her square in the face and sent her flying away only to crash land several meters with dust rising from her fall. Nara breathed a sigh and shook his hands a little as they hurt from the heavy blows that he was forced to unleash on her.
“She’s tough,” he remarked with a disgruntled look on his face. “My hands hurt.”
“What? Your hands hurt? How’s that possible?” Zen asked, looking stricken by this information.
“I’m not sure, but she certainly had a strong body,” remarked Nara while heaving a sigh.
“Could it be the armor like those guys were using to boost themselves?” Zen asked curiously.
Nara shook his head and replied, “No. It didn’t feel that way. I can feel her skin on each impact, so nothing metallic or armor like beneath her clothes.”
Then, as they looked in the direction where the monster girl crashed at, all of them slowly widened their eyes in alarm as he exclaimed, “No way!”
Their enemy was fidgeting on the ground before she suddenly leaped into the air and landed on her feet. She stood firmly without showing any sign of faltering despite all the injuries sustained on her body, but that did not last. Soon, all of the injuries began to heal, wounds closed up, leaving only traces of blood behind as a sign of taking any damage.

“Damn! Fast healing again?!” Zen exclaimed, looking in annoyance.
“GGGGGRRRRRRRAAAAAAAA!!!!!” She let out another roar and began to surge with an incredible energy that was violent and uncontrollable.
A moment later, she charged towards them with a deadly monstrous look on her face as her red eyes flashed dangerously. Zen faltered at the sight of her coming at them, but Nara began to surge with power while radiating a red aura that surrounded him before charging forward and heading straight towards her. The two met and quickly began to unleash a barrage of fists and kicks at one another at a speed that was like a blur of movement.
For a few seconds, Zen watched in complete silence as the War Titan faced off against this unknown monster girl in a close combat battle and it seemed like they were evenly matched. This made him wonder whether the girl was utalising something that the previous enemies had on their bodies.
“Seems like an even match,” he commented with a look of annoyance on his face.
“No, they’re not,” said Valerian, shaking his head in denial to Zen’s claim.
“Huh? They’re not?” The Phoenix Emperor asked, turning around to look at the Storm Titan in confusion.
Valerian did not look at him and continued to watch the battle unfold before saying, “Nara is struggling to keep up.”
Zen could not believe his ears and turned back to watch the battle, squinting to not miss a single movement. As he desperately tried to keep up with their movement, he finally realised what Valerian was talking about. Nara seemed to be desperately trying to defend against her blows while dealing blows of his own. However, it looked like the damage he was dealing was incomparable to the damage she was dealing to him. The War Titan was indeed struggling against this mysterious monster girl.
“Maybe, we should help out?” Zen asked curiously.
“I don’t think we’re as fast and strong as him,” replied Valerian curtly, “and she appears to be a close combat style fighter; that’s quite the disadvantage for you and a bit of a trouble for me.”
“So, we just watch as spectators then?” Zen asked with a sigh.
Valerian nodded as he continued to observe the battle with deep concentration.
After several blows, she suddenly pulled back to evade Nara’s attack before spreading her arms out wide and brought them together with a rush. The moment she clapped her hands together in front of her, a wild energy was unleashed from her hands and it swept forward, engulfing the War Titan in it as he desperately crossed his arms in front of him to defend himself. The wave of energy slammed into the ground with a heavy impact.
A moment later, the dust cleared to reveal the War Titan lying on the ground with multiple wounds on his body. He pushed himself up into a sitting position and spat blood out of his mouth before glaring up at his foe, who had remained airborne and silent while he recovered from the previous attack.
Seeing him sitting upright, the monster girl surged with power and soared straight down while aiming her clawed hand at him. Nara saw her coming and waited until the last moment before falling backwards to evade her, and as he did, he brought his legs up and kicked her as hard as he could in the gut.
The impact sent her flying high into the air, but he was not far behind as he leaped onto his feet and kicked off to soar after her. Reaching her within seconds, he channelled his energy force into his arms and grabbed her neck before snapping it with a violent cracking sound. Then he descended to the ground while holding her by the neck and slammed her limp body hard against the ground.

As the dust cleared, everyone saw the lifeless body of the monster girl as her head was tilting in a very wrong angle. Nara groaned as he got to his feet while looking down at her with a disturbed expression on his face. It did not sit right with him to do such a thing to a woman, but he understood the danger she posed because of her wild and uncontrollable nature.
“Nara, we should’ve tired to bring some sense to her!” Zen said as he and Valerian came up to him.
“Bring sense to that?!” Nara exclaimed in a shocked voice. “No way, especially when she was so bloodthirsty! She was a true monster out for blood! Anyway, she works for the villain that tried to kill us, remember?”
“Yeah, but still…!” Zen said, looking down at the dead body with remorse. “For all we know, she might’ve been mind controlled, modified, or even worse, manipulated into fighting us by our real enemy.”
This made Nara sigh and say, “You speak like Lucky. Treating all enemies and giving them a chance could come back to destroy us. I say we destroy them when we have the chance before they take the chance to get back at us.”
“Yes, but… but still…” Zen tried in an attempt to defend his and the Phoenix Titan’s belief.
He never got the chance to complete his sentence when, at that exact moment, the monster girl’s body twitched. They did not notice this, but Valerian did as he was watching her suspiciously all this time and quickly reacted by warning them about it.
“Get away from that body! She’s alive!”
At his shout, the other two glanced at her body and saw her twitching as if she was coming back to life. Momentarily shocked, they leaped away to safety and a moment later, there was a flash of light before the girl jumped to her feet and with a dreadful twist, she put her neck back to normal before turning to glare at them in her monster fashion.
“Y-You’re kidding me!” Nara exclaimed, staring at her in utter shocked disbelief. “She’s still alive!”
“How in the… heck…?!” Zen exclaimed, staring at her with a new sense of fear.
She glared at them through her red monstrous eyes before letting out a roar and charging at them once more. Her intention was clearly to take them out no matter what and as Nara and Zen powered up to fight back, Valerian suddenly uttered magic words from beside them.
“Lagrad.”
In an instant, magic circles appeared around her before water burst out of them and engulfed her. Then the water began to circle around to form the shape of a sphere and hovered there in mid-air while keeping the monster girl encased in it.
Channeling his energy, the Storm Titan used another magic spell by saying, “Stadraik.”
The moment he said that word, a sudden bolt of lighting appeared in the middle of the water before it expanded, causing a violent burst of electricity to charge the sphere of water. The monster girl let out a violent roar in pain as the violent electricity struck her in every part of her body until she was nothing but a charcoal retaining human shape.
Unfortunately, before any of them could breathe a sigh of relief, a flash of light occurred and her appearance was back to normal. Opening her eyes, she roared violently and slammed both of her fists against the water sphere imprisoning her and stopping her from going anywhere. The heavy impact caused the water to ripple and even made the wind blow wildly outside.
“She’s… She’s… She’s… immortal…!” Zen exclaimed, his eyes round and wide as they were filled with horror.
“Dammit! How the hell is that even possible?!” Nara demanded furiously as he glared up at her.
“How do we fight someone immortal…?” Zen asked weakly, losing all will to fight at this unprecedented enemy.
The War Titan looked at him as Valerian said, “I suggest you return and inform Dominic about this.”
“What?” Zen asked feebly, his will to fight declining by the minute.
“I can’t keep her forever in there,” said Valerian, making a pained look each time she slammed her fists against the water prison sphere. “Quickly, return to Dominic and tell him about this. Hurry.”
“Yes! That’s a good idea!” Nara agreed while Zen looked confused. He urgently told the Phoenix Emperor, “She is way too strong for either of us to beat, especially if she is immortal! We need Dominic with us and quickly! Go and tell him about this now!”
As Zen continued to look confused and out of it, the Mardana Kingdom’s King chose at that exact moment to make his presence known by exclaiming, “What the hell is that thing?! Where did it come from?!”
The War Titan was most annoyed by this and rounded on the king by shouting, “I don’t have time for you, idiot! Stay out of this!” He turned back to face the Phoenix Emperor and thundered, “What are you waiting for?! Go!”
This shout broke Zen out of his stupor and made him realise the situation before nodding in agreement. Then he warped out of there, allowing Nara to turn back to face their enemy. But before he could do anything else, he was interrupted by the Athurus much to his annoyance.
“How dare you shout at me, the King of Mardana Kingdom?!”
“What kind of king would you be when you’re dead?!” Nara rounded on him, shocking Athurus, his guards, and those that had recovered from the earlier shock waves to witness this occurrence. He turned back to face the monster and said, “You and your people get back! I can’t fight this thing while worrying about your stupid lives!”
“H-How dare you?!” Athurus exclaimed furiously.
Nara ignored him and told Valerian, “Val, release her! I’ll handle her from here.”
“You sure?” Valerian asked doubtfully.
The War Titan nodded and said, “Yes. She may be a monster, but she needs to learn what happens when you mess with the king of all beasts! RRRRRRRROOOOOOOOOAAAAAAAAARRRRRRR!!!!!”
He let out a beastly roar and at the same time began to surge with an incredible amount of power as he began to transform into his ultimate form to face the biggest challenge of his lifetime.

World Master
Hey! I once lived on your world back in 2056. But that was a long time ago and there’s probably no records of my existence. Or, maybe, I haven’t even been born yet… …I’m still figuring out of the timelines correspond. Anyways, I was or will be, or whatever you want to call it (maybe I am?), John Pitcher, a resident at St. Jude’s Hospital for the Mentally Ill. I was a computer programmer and my parents had me admitted there because I was convinced that I had been contacted by Set, the Egyptian god of chaos, about creating a world. Well, apparently, I’m something akin to the great times a hundred grandson of over 10 000 gods, and they didn’t want me to live an ordinary, dull life (well, except for the god of normalcy, but he doesn’t count). Set gave me three years to prepare myself. This begins right at the end of those three years. [participant in the NaNoWriMo Royal Road challenge] I originally had this as part of the prologue, then I realized that it made a better synopsis. Please note: this might seem a bit clunky because I haven't done a lot of writing, and this is supposed to be a kind of prequel to another story that I plan on doing in the future. I will not be fully explaining everything but instead will be explaining things in that other story. This is mainly to help fill in the lore of the world so that people will have at least a basic idea of how things function. Regardless of that, that story won't be written for at least another year, so deal with it. Note: I am using ideas from several different authors in order to make sure that this can be a proper story. You may or may not recognize where I got them. I am not writing a Fanfiction and do not claim these as my own. I will add to a list of titles below as I find myself using those ideas. World Keeper (obviously) The Wandering Inn The Legend of Randidly Ghosthound (not yet, but eventually) A bunch of others that I haven't thought of yet
