《Phoenix Rising》ARC 18: Chapter 625 - Titans vs. Ancient Evil

The enemy, Jagav Magrad, or now revealed to be the entity known as the Ancient Evil, crashed into a building from a powerful punch delivered by the Dragon Titan in his Dragon Fighter Form. Dust and smoke billowed from the place where Jagav had crashed at before the debris moved aside, and he appeared with a grin on his face.
“That was a good punch,” he remarked while rubbing his cheek where he was punched, but he grinned and finished with, “but you’ve got to do better than that.”
Lagron clicked his tongue and shot off towards him at high speed and began to unleash a barrage of fist punches and kicks at him as fast as he could in his ultimate form. Despite the blinding speed in which he was moving, he seemed unable to land a single hit on his enemy. Jagav would merely move aside, swivel around to evade, and just vanished and reappeared in a spot that dodged the attack of his enemy, and he did this with a grin on his face.
“Too slow… chicken,” he taunted Lagron with a grin.
This infuriated Lagron, who retorted, “No, it’s you!”
He continued to unleash a barrage of punches and kicks at him only for them to get dodged. However, on unleashing his next attack, he did faint that the Ancient Evil assumed was an attack and dodged it by disappearing and reappearing elsewhere. As he stared at the Dragon Titan in surprise¸ a sword suddenly pierced into him from behind as the Sword Titan landed his attack on their enemy.
“Paralysing Blades!”
In an instant, several swords appeared out of thin air and pierced into him and their enemy found himself unable to move. Without wasting another second, Dominic activated another attack by saying it out loud.
“Lightning Blades!”
As he shouted, Valerian also activated his own technique by saying it out loud as well.
“Zartara!”
In an instant, a magic circle appeared above the Ancient Evil before a violent lightning burst from the circle and struck him. At the same time, Dominic’s own attack activated and began to riddle the man’s body with an immense amount of lightning power.
While that was happening, Lagron had gathered a large amount of energy in the palm of his hand and shouted at the others, “Get away from him!”
Heeding his words, they moved aside just in time for him to bring his palms forward and unleash a massive red wave of destruction at the Ancient Evil while shouting the technique name out loud.
“Dragon Burst Drive Cannon!”
The wave lit the sky with a fiery red glow as it soared towards and engulfed the Ancient Evil, who seemingly made an expression of looking troubled. The attack continued to fly into the air and soon disappeared while the waved died down and disappeared, returning the view back to normal. As it slowly did, they watched expectantly to see what had happened and were not surprised to see their enemy was still alive but they were alarmed to find that there not a single injury on him.
“What? You weren’t hurt at all?” Dominic asked frustratedly.
It was then that the Ancient Evil shocked them all by using his mouth to say, “A sneak attack? I didn’t think you’re capable of sinking that low, Sword Titan.”
This shocked Dominic, who had pierced him with multiple swords and used his technique to keep him from moving with the power of paralysis. This also meant that he should not be able to move his limbs, including his mouth. Yet, their enemy seemed perfectly in control of using his mouth. Not only that, but he seemed perfectly fine despite taking in such devastating attacks such as the lightning and the massive wave of destruction.

“Honestly, I was expecting more,” he said and began moving his arms like there was no magic effecting him in the first place and easily pulled out of his body and threw them aside and looked at them, “but this is a disappointment.”
Lagron, Dominic, and Valerian looked on with shock as the wounds on his body from the pierced swords closed and returned to normal. Then he looked at each of them and waved his hand at them and made a hand gesture to call them to him.
“Dammit!” Lagron snarled, and he began to unleash a barrage of energy blasts at him.
Simultaneously, Dominic raised sword and pointed it at him while saying the technique name out loud.
“Transcendent Blades of Justice!”
In an instant, the swords around him from the sword field that was already cast around him began to converge and form into larger and sharper looking swords, which flew rapidly at their target. At the same time, the Storm Titan began to unleash a barrage of lightning balls that flew towards the Ancient Evil.
All the attacks flew forward and made contact, resulting in an explosion that shook the ground and sent wild blowing winds in all directions. They continued to rapid fire their attacks when the Ancient Evil suddenly broke free from the clouds and flew straight at the Dragon Titan much to the surprise of the other two.
As he reached him, Lagron gathered an enormous amount of energy in the palms of his hand and fired it at point blank rage. However, his enemy evaded it by flying around it and delivered a powerful kick straight to Lagron’s face. The Dragon Titan was pushed back through the air as he reeled from the attack.
Lagron quickly recovered and upon seeing his enemy chasing after him, he waited and as he was upon him once more, the Dragon Titan spun his body around and landed his own kick on the enemy’s side of body. This sent his enemy flying back but he suddenly vanished and reappeared in front of Lagron, who reacted with surprise before being hit by a powerful uppercut that sent him flying upward.
After chasing after him, the Ancient Evil vanished and reappeared behind where Lagron had come to a stop and punched his back while saying, “You were the one that called me a chicken, right?”
Being punched from behind caused Lagron to fly forward, only to end up hitting against his enemy, who had suddenly appeared out of thin air. He reacted with surprise and was about to retaliate when he was suddenly punched on the side of his face while his enemy began ranting.
“Do you have any idea—”
Then he was punched on the other side of his face.
“—how annoying it is—“
He followed it off by punching him very hard in the gut.
“—to be called a chicken—”
Then he followed it by delivering yet another powerful punch to the gut with his other hand.
“—so many times?!”
He finished off his attack by soared above him and joining his hands together and slamming them down hard against the Dragon Titan’s head. The powerful impact sent the dragon armoured warrior flying down at an alarming speed and smashed heavily against the ground, which shook from the impact.
The Ancient Evil hovered there and looked down at his fallen enemy when he suddenly swirled around and used his arms to destroy several swords that flew at him. In an instant, a powerful explosion occurred that spread smoke everywhere that blocked their view.

Despite this, the Ancient Evil suddenly broke free from the smoke and flew at an alarming speed straight for the Sword Titan.
“As for the two of you,” he began and gathered a dark energy in the palms of his hand and brought it forward as he finished with a simple, “die!”
He unleashed a deadly black wave of destruction straight at the place the Sword Titan and the Storm Titan were at. The two warriors were shocked, and Dominic instantly waved his sword in front of him while shouting a technique name out loud.
“Blade Block!”
In an instant, multiple swords began flying from all around them and came together in front of the two-warrior formed into a rigid wall. The attack smashed into the rigid wall of swords that blocked its path from its target and for a few seconds, the two forces struggled against each other as the swords stopped the incoming attack from breaking through.
Finally, a violent spark of power occurred that resulting in the wave exploding and destroying the wall of swords in the process. As the smoke spread everywhere, Dominic took this opportunity to prepare his strongest attack and pointed his sword towards where he knew the enemy was located through the smoke.
As he began channelling his Energy Force, many swords began to fly away from their frozen state and began joining together to form into a cannon. Then, a large energy was gathered in the centre of it and this lasted for a few seconds before the smoke was forcefully cleared by their enemy.
In that instant, Dominic exerted his power and unleashed his attack while shouting, “Blasting Blade Cannon!”
An enormous golden wave of destruction erupted from the cannon formed by swords and flew straight towards the Ancient Evil. As the wave came towards him, their enemy wore a smug look on his face and pulled his right hand back before slapping the attack.
On impact, there was a strong clash of forces that collided against his move, but despite the strong push the Sword Titan was giving, the Ancient Evil seemingly overpowered the incoming wave and finished in his slapping of the attack. As a result, the incoming wave changed course and began flying back straight to the person that launched it in the first place.
“No way!” Dominic exclaimed, alarmed to see his own attack flying back at him as he stopped firing at it. He gritted his teeth and said, “There’s no choice! It’s now or never!”
Realising that evading his attack would make it easier for the enemy to track and attack him, he decided to take this chance to attack his enemy and destroy his own attack at the same time. Thus, he began channelling a great amount of energy into his sword, which soon started to glow.
He raised it into the air and exerted his power into it, causing the blade to shoot out a brilliant golden energy that soared high into the air. It lit up the entire area, causing everyone to look towards it with amazement while others felt a strange sense of security as they were bathed by its brilliant light.
Ready to attack, Dominic screamed, “Blade of Justice!”
With that, he swung his down at the incoming attack and the golden blade of energy swung down and smashed into his own attack that was returning to him. With ease, it split the attack in half and caused it to explode while the blade of energy continued to swing straight down to where the enemy was hovering.
The Ancient Evil saw the attack coming and instead of dodging, he remained on that spot without moving. The blade of energy soared down and just as it was about to strike him, he raised one hand and caught it before grabbing hold of it to stop it from swinging down any further.
“Dammit!” Dominic shouted, sensing that his sword was stopped and exerting all the power he could muster into his sword to try and push it down to kill his enemy. “Kill him!”
H continued to exert a great amount of energy into his sword and tried pushing as hard as he could, but it was to no avail. The enemy was just too powerful that none of their attacks are sleaving any kind of damage on him.
“Such a powerful sense of justice this sword radiates,” he remarked with a smile as he held the sword firmly in his hand, “and yet… I sense that it holds nothing to my resolve to carry out my mission.”
“Let’s see about that!” Shouted a voice suddenly from behind.
At the same time, a pair of hands touched his back, and the Ancient Evil looked over his shoulder to see that it was the Dragon Titan. He was bleeding from his forehead and other places, but he looked determined to take out his enemy no matter what. Thus, he had risen again and used Dragon Drive to power himself up and fly up to catch his enemy off guard.
“Let’s see if your resolve can survive against us!” Lagron shouted at him while keeping both of his hands pressed against his enemy’s back.
The Ancient Evil clicked his tongue and said, “What’s the best that you can do, weakling?!”
“This… is the best that I can do!” Lagron shouted and exerted his power to unleash his attack while shouting, “All Out: Dragon Meteor Cannon!”
“What?!” The Ancient Evil exclaimed, showing first time an expression of surprise and a hint of fear on his face.
Before he could do anything, the energy gathered by the Dragon Titan was unleashed all at once and an enormous dark red wave of destruction got fired and completely enveloped its target while the blade of energy soared straight down and cut through where they were located at.
There was a moment of pause before a violent explosion occurred, causing the ground to shake while the winds blew rapidly all around them as shock waves were sent in all directions. Soon, a large amount of smoke was spreading in all directions and completely blocked the view for everyone to see what had happening and what was going on.
Dominic was breathing deeply from the amount of power he unleashed at their enemy and a moment later, Lagron appeared hovering next to him while also breathing deeply.
“Did we get him…?” The Dominic asked anxiously.
“Why are you even asking when you can sense that he’s fine?” Lagron retorted irritably.
“I was being hopeful,” replied Dominic with a saddened expression on his face.
As the two went silent, the smoke slowly cleared and revealed their enemy to be hovering in mid-air in the same spot as before. However, they noticed that he was missing his right arm that had been previously holding off the blade of energy that the Sword Titan unleashed at him. This surprised them and made them smile that, at long last, their assault had some result to show.
“Stop patting yourselves on the back just because of this puny injury you managed to land on me,” said the Ancient Evil, and he looked up at them with a smug smile on his face.
At that moment, particle of liquid began flying from all over the place and gathered at where his missing limb was, and they watched in horror as the scattered blood returned and formed into his missing limb and restored as it got attached to the spot it was ripped from by the earlier attack.
“See? Good as new,” he said and experimented with the arm by flexing it and folding and upfolding his hands a few times. Then he looked up at them and said, “Why don’t I show you how good as new it is?”
As he finished saying those words, he vanished from the spot and appeared before them much to their surprise. Before they could react, he grabbed them with each hand by their faces and held them there as they grabbed his hand and tried to break free from him. However, he gave them no chance and activated his own attack by saying it out loud in a quiet voice.
“Black Thunder.”
In an instant, a black lightning blitzed through the sky from above and struck the two warriors that he held in his grasp. Both Lagron and Dominic began to let out gut-wrenching screams from the immeasurable pain they were put under from the attack of their enemy. It was a lightning like no other, delivering an attack so devastating that both the warriors were experiencing a pain like they had never experienced before; it was a mind-numbing pain that even brought tears to their eyes from the suffering they were being put through.
The Ancient Evil watched with a satisfactory smile on his face as the two warriors were tortured by the black lightning. This lasted for a few seconds when a sudden flash of light occurred somewhere below and then a loud voice shouted what seemed like a magic technique that consisted of just one word.
“Break!”
In an instant, the black lightning got cancelled and destroyed, causing the Ancient Evil to get pushed back as a whiplash. At the same time, he let go of the two as a reflex and the warriors soared down limply before being caught by Valerian as he dived after them.
The Ancient Evil saw them being caught before turning around and clicking his tongue as he said, “An interloper.”
Down on the ground, the fully transformed War Titan stood firmly while breathing heavily as he glared up at him. Earlier, he had watched the battle unfold and saw that the two warriors were going to be defeated, and so pleaded with the Mardana Kingdom’s King to get his healers to heal him.
“Please! Even a little is fine, so please…! Heal me so that I can stop that man!” He beseeched the king.
Athurus had looked at him with a troubled look on his face before coming to a decision and making his healers come and heal the War Titan. Due to the enormous power that he possessed, there was no way the healers would be able to completely return him to a normal fighting condition. However, the War Titan was fine with that as he intended on being a distraction to buy time for something.
The Ancient Evil spoke with an irritated voice by asking him, “Is the beating from my servant not enough? Do you want to get beaten by me that badly that you pushed yourself up? I mean, just look at you! You can barely stand, just what kind of hope do you have to fight against me in that stupid condition?”
Nara put up a brave front and replied confidently, “The hope… of defeating you.”
His response did not sit well with his enemy, who glared at him and said, “Hope.” Then he sighed and prepared to attack as he replied, “Very well then. Let’s see what sort of form your hope will be once I’m done with you!”
Just as he was about to charge at his enemy, a suddenly lightning field erupted from somewhere nearby and spread-out all around him. As he did, he instantly felt a strange tingling sensation as a strange lightning began striking him but did not injure him in any way. He did, however, realise that he was unable to move as it took him great effort to budge his limbs from their frozen state.
“D-Dammit…! I can’t… move…!” He said slowly as he struggled against the freezing mechanism of the field.
“Which is what I’m after,” said a voice, and he struggled to turn around to see the Storm Titan hovering there with his arms folded in front of him. “You…!”
As he managed the single word, Valerian opened his eyes and looked at him before saying, “Yes. It’s me that put you in here, and we’ll be like this for a while until the others recover to fight you.”
He made sure to not let his enemy know that what he was really after was to keep him in that immovable state for as long as possible to give the Phoenix Titan to wake up and arrive there. This was the reason he held back from participating in the assault that Lagron and Dominic launched against the Ancient Evil.
To his remark, his enemy smirked and slowly said, “Well… looks like… I underestimated you… but… what good does it do… when the ones you’re counting on… are all… weakling…!”
“Weak or not, they are strong and given enough time, they will return to fighting condition, and you will be… history!”
Valerian replied firmly with a serious expression on his face.
The Ancient Evil chuckled although he struggled to do so while in his immovable state before looking at back at him.
“Fine, but do you think I’ll just be here and let you have your precious time so they can recover?”
As he raised that question, he began to exert his enormous power, which caused the pressure in the air around them to thicken and the air to shake slightly. His release of power to break free from the constraints that the Storm Titan put him in caused the Storm Titan to clench his jaw and exert his arm muscles as he too started exerting his own power to keep the field from breaking and allowing his enemy to be free.
“Let’s see… who is stronger one… between the two of us!” The Ancient Evil exclaimed with a fiendish smile while Valerian looked back at him with a serious expression while hoping for the Phoenix Titan to quickly come to them.
