Chapter 78. Points
"So early, I thought I still had a day or two left?" My voice echoed in a dark room.
It wasn't in the library but I wasn't outside the tower, the message did specify library in it. I waited for the system to tell me why I was here or until something unusual happened.
The system didn't say anything but as if someone had turned the lights, I noticed a lot of small pedestals with some things on top of them.
Walking up to them, I could see a variety of objects. Ranging from books to clothes, from giant armors to small pills. And every item had a number written before it, ranging from 1 to 3.
As I finished glancing over all the items, a prompt popped up.
[Use your points to claim the items.]
A small description appeared under each item and some items disappeared, leaving an empty pedestal behind. The points were like a bonus reward, you earned one for killing the [Goblin General] and two more for the hobgoblin.
Well surviving against the hobgoblin at least, there might have been more for actually killing it.
Most of the items were already gone, the majority of them cost one point, but a couple of two or three-point items were also gone. It was hard to believe that so many people were capable of killing the general and the hobgoblin.
There should not be a lot of humans capable of this feat, a dozen? I'd believe that but even that was highly unlikely. I didn't want to draw hasty conclusions but everything was constantly leading to it.
The certainty of different intelligent species being present on this planet. Not just one but multiple of them.
We had no idea if they were hostile or friendly, but no matter what the case it would be better to prepare for the worst.

I started to inspect each item closely, trying to think how they might become useful in the coming future. There were also a few items to prepare for like a rotting poison, that would start thinning the blood slowly decomposing it at the slightest touch.
There were some potent weapons too but they had multiple conditions to work and required a lot of people at the same time to use them.
I selected two objects, an 'Illusion' talisman which cost me two points, and a small box using up the last point. I did not see anything that grabbed my attention and items that were intriguing had already been claimed.
The talisman was versatile and flexible, making it possible to be used in many situations while the box left me unsure. The item inside it had a specific purpose, maybe it was an impulse or just a stupid gut feeling but I kept that box.
I stored both the items in my spatial ring as everything went dark and I was teleported out of the tower.
I opened my eyes to see Chloe, who stood there with her eyes closed. She suddenly staggered to her left losing her balance, I used [flash] and stopped her from falling to the ground.
She grabbed me and tried to regain her balance, "Ugh. I'm still not used to the teleporting stuff." She said after a few seconds.
"I don't know for many days were gone, but we should return to the town. Arthur, Lucy, and Luke are smart but still children." I said after Chloe got rid of her dizziness.
"And we might also need to clear out the path once again," She sighed.
"So we better hurry," I smiled.
I opened my eyes in the tent, appearing at the same spot from where I had opted to enter the tower. The only difference was that Robert wasn't here, he might be outside.

"Ali? Are you there outside?" I called out to the guard, not that we needed one but everyone said that it was appropriate for leaders to have guards with them. Not that anyone could harm me or my husband in this settlement.
This was our home, The Home.
I heard someone rush in but it was not Ali. My hand immediately went towards my sword even though the person who ran in was a kid.
"Miss! You're finally here!" There was slight relief on his face as he looked at me, his eyes almost tearing up.
"How many days have passed since I entered? And where are Ali and Robert?"
"You were gone for three whole days and the situation has changed a lot during that short time. Sir and brother Ali asked me to bring you to them as fast as possible." He replied fast but clearly.
"Take me there and summarize the important details in as few words as possible."
He hesitated for a second but took a deep breath and replied with a single word.
"War."

Blood Demon's Retirement
Civil War had raged on the Al-Shan Archipelago for the past four decades, only recently coming to an end with the enthronement of the new Emperor. This is not his story. The Blood Demon, renowned general of said civil war, was tired of all the fighting and politicking that had described the last four decades of her existence. All she really wanted to do now is to go out into the world and see the many lands from her father's stories. Thus she retired, and went and did exactly what she wanted. This is the story of what happens when you toss a (retired) war machine with somewhat lacking common sense into an unsuspecting world at peace. Chapters will range from 1-2.5k words, scheduled for release every day from Monday to Friday. First time posting a story on Royal Road here, hoping you folks will enjoy. Expect: -slow going slice of life with occassional faster paced action -world building -detailed anecdotes on the world, its races, the magic system, and whatnot every now and then Do not expect: -romance, other than maybe some passing mentions -politics, again, barring passing mentions Any comments, reviews, and criticism will be much appreciated. And thank you for reading. ---------------------------- Disclaimer: This story is my original work and only posted on the Royal Road and Scribblehub websites. Sustaining the King's Life
On a secluded mountain situated upon a kingdom known as Feuersturm, resides a seemingly trifling cabin with an unlikely duo as its inhabitant—a witch, and her apprentice who presumably comes from a clan sought after by slave traders. Faustina is a sixteen-year-old girl who fled the slave market with the help of a sickly witch named Eula, who later on trained her as an apprentice for the span of seven years. Plagued with a mysterious disease for several years, Eula died despite the efforts Faustina had exerted to cure her; in her last breath, she left an odd request behind. "Sustain the king's life. This is your duty. Do not adhere to the prophecy." To which the odd plea shadowed a bizarre series of events, a consequential sentence, similar to that of a premonition. The same night the phrase was muttered, the chain of events followed: A warlock's intrusion to their home, with a peculiar yearning to resurrect Eula from the dead... and the king himself, asking for Faustina’s aid. ** 1-2 chapters a day (GMT+8) ** (The artwork belongs to me.
