PHASE 70 - THE MOST LIFE-THREATENING CONFESSION EVER
“W-W-What? Of course, I’m not gay!” Eliseo managed to pull out his manly voice even if he’s caught by surprise. “Who told you that?”
“Some privates on my platoon.” The bald general retained his serious look.
“Hahaha! I’m gay? I’m gay!? That’s impossible! I have a girlfriend!” Eliseo said.
“Hmmm…” the general have this doubtful stare at his son.
Eliseo decided to move on with a forced smile on his face as he introduced his fake girlfriend. “D-Dad, this is my girlfriend Diana Solstice.”
“H-Hi, General Fontaine.” Diadem shyly waved her hand to the general.
“Oooooh~” Eliseo’s father was awed due to the beauty of my crossdressing twin. “You really have a fine taste with women, just like me!”
“Of course! Ahahaha…” Eliseo scratched his head as he continues to give fake laughs. Then he proceeded to introduce me and Rikkun. “We’re actually having a double date. Here is Tiara, Diana’s twin.”
“Nice to meet you, General Fontaine, ~” I made a smile as I shook his hand. His palms are rough, and it’s full of scars. This is telling us that Eliseo’s father has gone through a lot of battles.
“And here is my friend Alaric.” Eliseo held Rikkun’s hand as he raised it up high. Disgusted, Rikkun immediately pulled his hand out of Eliseo’s grasps.
"I see… So you now have male friends. I was worried about you when you were in grade school because you only have girls as friends. I’m so glad that you have seen a bro.” The general was delighted.
Suddenly, Eliseo’s father stood up. “I feel like I’m interrupting you with your double date, so I’m afraid I have to leave.”
“B-But Dad…” Eliseo reached out his hand. “I thought you wanted to talk to me?”
“It’s fine.” The general gave the brightest smile that removed all sinister aura in him. “Now that I have seen that you have a fine girlfriend. I’m no longer afraid that you’ll turn the wrong way.”

“O-Of course, I will never go the wrong way!” Eliseo carefully rolled his sleeves as he showed his thin bicep. “I’m manly as heck!”
“I’m glad.” Eliseo’s dad smiled. And then the general gave out a calling card and the hotel card in which he is currently residing in. “Come visit me after your date and honeymoon.”
Hearing the last word made Diadem’s spine turn chillingly cold. “H-H-H-Honeymoon!?”
“Take care of your precious girlfriend. Cute girls are weak and fragile.” Eliseo’s dad continued.
“Y-Yes!” Eliseo smiled happily.
The threat to Eliseo’s life disappeared as his father walks away from the scene.
<>
We continued eating wordlessly, not believing that we’re finally able to fool Eliseo’s father. It leaves a poor aftertaste in my mouth tricking a clueless person, but at least Eliseo won’t have to worry anymore.
Or that’s what we thought.
“The hotel card says that Dad will stay in Dradecim for two months,” Eliseo said as he stared at the evil card.
“W-Whaaaat?” I shrieked.
“Y-Yeah.” Cold sweat ran through Eliseo’s face. “So that means I have to act like a boy for two months…”
“D-Do I have to act like a girl and crossdress for two months too!?” Diadem shrieked.
Meanwhile, Rikkun can be heard chuckling at the background. He keeps muttering words like: “This is so entertaining!” and “The plot thickens!” as if he really doesn’t care about Eliseo’s and Diadem’s mental health at all.
“T-That’s bad!” I cried. “Fooling your own father with such amount of time is really bad!”
“Yeah, that’s right!” My twin seconded. “There’s no way I’ll wear my sister’s dresses again!”
“I’m sorry if I’m troubling you twins… but this is the only way I can think of. I’m asking for two months. Just two months…” Eliseo bowed to Diadem with full sincerity. “Please act like my girlfriend for two months!”
“No way!” Diadem cried.
“U-Ummm… Miss Eliseo…” I raised my hand to get his attention. “I think it’s really evil if you keep fooling your father like that. Sooner or later, he will know the truth. The longer a secret is hidden, the heavier your dad’s emotions will be. So I think… You have to face your problems right now. You have to tell him the truth about your personality. You have to confess. Surely, he will accept your feelings.”

“...Tiara…” Eliseo smirked. “Easier said than done. You know, you’re a great talker. But you’re a bad doer. You can convince almost everyone with your voice, and yet it took you a lot of time to confess your feelings to the one you love.”
“That’s right.” Alaric joined the conversation and nodded. “It took you more than one hundred and fifty chapters just to confess your feelings to me.”
“...Auu…” I cried. Then I shifted the mood just to convince my homosexual friend. “B-But I still think confessing your sins is the right thing to do in your situation!”
“Yeah, that’s right!” Diadem seconded. “Have you ever tried to reveal your secret to your father, even once?”
“Of course not,” Eliseo said. “I don’t know what he’ll do to me if I admitted that I’m gay!”
“You still have to confess!” Diadem cried. “Try doing it with your Gate Guardian ability active so that you’ll know beforehand what your father is thinking of you before you can make a confession!”
Eliseo was silenced. Certainly, my twin Diadem has raised a valid point. If Eliseo can read the mind of his father, he will know if his father will accept his homosexuality beforehand.
After a few seconds, here comes his reply.
“I think I’ll try it.” Eliseo said with a hint of a smile.
“That’s great!” I happily pumped my fists.
“Nice! I won’t be wearing girly dresses anymore!” Diadem copied my expression.
Meanwhile, Rikkun is just smiling creepily in the corner, as if he already knows what will happen. He has the power to see after all. Maybe he already saw it in his dreams.
<>
It’s already seven in the night.
Eliseo and I decided to visit the hotel room of the general. Just for this time, I was allowed to act as Eliseo’s girlfriend. Diana/Diadem has the same face like mine, so there wouldn’t be an issue. I substituted my twin brother so that I can guide Eliseo to his confession, and well… because Diadem’s sanity points are too low to keep on crossdressing.
Rikkun will be waiting at the entrance of the room. He’s not needed inside, and we’re afraid that he’ll turn into a troll that will ruin our plan on confessing.
So here it is.
When Eliseo pressed the doorbell for the second time, his big father attended us happily. “Come in.” He said.
Eliseo and I sat beside each other on the sofa. I can see Eliseo’s toes shaking, so I patted him in the back, silently saying that it will be alright.
The general sat on the adjacent sofa as he continues to assemble something on the table. There are bullets scattered on the round glass table, and there are also metal parts, the springs, and oil cans and dirty rags lying around.
He’s in the middle of cleaning his pistol gun.
“I’m glad that you came to visit me with your girlfriend.” The general smiled. The moment he said those words, he already has his service pistol fully assembled.
“Y-Yes.” Eliseo forced out a laugh. “D-Dad… The truth is, I have to tell something to you…”
Eliseo’s cross sigils on his pink eyes glowed, indicating that he activated his ability.
“What is it, my son?”
“The truth is…” Eliseo made a deep breath. “The truth is, I’m not what you think I am… I’m not a man. I’m gay.”
"What?!” His father exclaimed.

Rooms of the Desolate
Rooms of the Desolate is a collection of short stories designed to guide the reader through the many rooms and mysteries of the bleak and greyscale labyrinth of the Desolate. The first entry, "The Forever Tower" follows an unnamed wanderer climbing an endless, colourless tower; the only world they have ever known. As they slowly ascend alongside the masses, they consider the nature of their world and look to the corridors as temptation beckons. The second entry, "Production Line", follows an engineer in a boundless factory, who encounters a product that does not wish to bow to the overseers and makes them question their belief in the truth and duties they were made to believe. Content guidelines: Current entries do not include explicit profanity, but future entries may do so, hence the presence of that tag. Some entries do include gore and violence, though not currently to particularly extreme degrees. The Desolate is exactly that: a desolate world; as such, it is bleak, downtrodden, and may deal with mental struggles. Cover art credit: Adam Borkowski on Pexels.
