《Angel's Song: Requiem of the Dreams》43. Wendigo (III)

Snow wondered where the spur of fearless had stemmed from. Maybe she had hit her head on something or didn't get enough sleep to offer herself as bait. But she knew that most of the other Players were too weak to even defend themselves and were more of easy prey if things went wrong.
On the other hand, she knew how to fight back and had a gut feeling that the Wendigo wasn't as bad as the other made her out to be. She felt a bit more confident from her skills that had grown but was not overly stupid, like Tommy, to take unnecessary risks. Better yet, she would automatically run first than stick around to fight.
Sitting in the middle of the forest with her battle-ready attire, she waited patiently for the night to fall. Her gaze before her was difficult to see. She had purposely left the campsite closer to the sunset to show that she was alone.
Already, she could feel the piercing gaze from the Wendigo staring at her. She felt uncomfortable; almost, sure that the Wendigo wasn't far from her. For some reason, it didn't attack; instead, it watched her silently.
Snow was tense, looking towards the direction every time something snapped or moved. She wanted to flee, hide from the prying eyes that watched her. The only thing that kept her in place was knowing that the others were out, hiding to catch the Wendigo off guard.
Breathing in and out, steadying her chaotic heart, she closed her eyes in the dark in the hopes to see the Wendigo without her sight. It wasn't easy, nor was it difficult as her magic started to crawl up to her eyes, giving her a mental picture of the surroundings.
Suddenly, she felt a sharp pang on her mind, screaming at her to dodge. Listening to her instinct, she dropped onto the ground, flattening herself.
The Wendigo missed, rolling on the ground from the lunge.
Quickly, getting up. Snow ran the opposite direction from Wendigo. She wasn't planning on fighting.
The Wendigo angrily pounded on the ground, it quickly got up and sprinted towards her in a maniacal hunger.
Realizing the speed of this monster, she couldn't outrun it anytime soon. The Wendigo leaped to grapple her down into the ground.
Her hand raised, summoning magic as she fired a ball of light magic. She closed her eyes, prayed that it would stop.
Light exploded, blinding the Wendigo. Snow was able to dodge, but she tripped on the unforeseen branch, making her tumble on the ground.

"Damn it." Snow cursed under her breath. She scrambled up, her feet kicking the branch that made her fall.
The Wendigo thrashed and screeched, raising her hair on end. She had to hurry.
Her breath tightened, her chest pounded from fear, and her muscles screamed at her to slow down, but she didn't listen.
Hot on her tail, she ran as fast as her leg could muster. Every moment, she threw up another blinding light magic in the hopes to stall for time. The first two, the Wendigo, were struck by her unsuspecting light, but the next, it was ready for her.
Snow could hear the rapid breathing that smelled of foul egg and lousy hygiene. She rushed towards a small clearing, getting excited that her destination was clear.
Suddenly, her legs were swooped underneath her. The Wendigo long arm caught up to her.
Snow rolled a reasonable distance. The Wendigo was breathing over her head, stabbing into the ground but missed many times. She frantically searched for her dagger that was strapped to her leg. Her dragon armor helmet snapped on, changing her appearance as the Wendigo stopped momentarily from confusion, thinking it was a different pray.
"Now!" Snow shouted. She knew she wasn't at her ideal spot, but there wasn't enough time. It was now or never.
She quickly got up, the Wendigo startled by her scream lashed downwards at her. Snow slashed its outstretched arm, drawing a bit of blood. It snapped at her with its long claw, scrapping the edge of her black armor, giving her an ugly high pitch metal against metal sound.
With a vicious kick, she kicked the Wendigo's body back.
From above, Tommy flew down with excitement. His hand hit against the back of the Wendigo with a vicious blow. It flopped onto its knees in pain.
"Got you, you son of a bitch." Tommy wildly grinned, jumping back as Wendigo swung its arm.
With a frightening speed, the Wendigo burst into action. It hit Tommy like a bulldozer, throwing him back. His hand grabbed the side of Wendigo's large body. Blood vessels popped out, he grunted loudly and yelled as he partially picked up the Wendigo into the air.
"Die!" A body slam followed after, toppling the Wendigo onto the ground.
Realizing that the sheer power from the Tommy, it summoned up a batch of twelve Hellhounds. Tamaki, Mr. Everrett, Mike, and Dairen, who came out to join, were tangled up in the fight. They fought, taking the monsters out quickly, but efficiently.

Realizing that its henchmen were being swept away quickly, once again, it attempted to run and hide.
"Oh no, you don't." Snow growled. She went through all that trouble to lure it out. There was no way that she was going to let such prey go.
Magic crackled in the air, the ground glowed blue as magical sigils appeared. A chain like an energy shot out from the ground, wrapping around the Wendigo body.
The chains disappeared, but the magical sigil didn't dim down. With anger and fear, the Wendigo tried to rush out from the trap. The blue chains that disappeared reappeared, affirming that it was still there, making it unable to move but the distance that it was given.
Mike was able to break away from the Hellhound as he rushed in to attack. His blade wildly slashed, taking chunks of skin.
Dairen took out a hellhound quickly with his bow, he knocked his arrow and fired another. The arrow flew true, embedding itself in between the knuckles. Pulling back its arm, it backhanded Mike, who was thrown a few feet away.
Realizing that it was trapped, the Wendigo raged. Body bulking up, horn growing and twisting into a knot. Red flames spewed out of its mouth, making it look more demonic as time went by.
With a powerful slam of its fist, a burst of wall of fire echoed outwards.
Everyone instantly braced for impact, many hiding behind trees, which the fire destroyed a large area.
Snow was able to use her light barrier around herself to push against the firestorm, which even now she could still feel the oppressive heat in the air. If she didn't put up the shield, she knew she would be instantly turned into barbeque.
"What is with this tenacious bastard," Tommy growled, he wasn't too thrilled that it was taking so much effort to bring down the monster.
"Just keep hitting." Tamaki yelled, his sword was precise and cut to the point where it was most needed."
"I am!" Tommy threw another. This time he had to dive under the swing that was coming for his head. He sprung upwards into an uppercut, hitting the lowered head.
The Wendigo wobbled from the vicious hit, but it still held on. Bloody cuts and bruises quickly formed, telling everyone that it was weakening.
Snow took as many chances as she could to join in on the fight, but most of her support was through healing and constraint. The magical sigil that she had summoned took a large chunk of her magic, making it difficult to send out anything too big without draining her.
Still, she dove in on the fight. Angry that the Wendigo tried to kill her. She wasn't going to let such a thing go.
Her sword wickedly gleamed, stabbing and slicing away with her dagger in the attempt to leave behind a deadly wound. But the Wendigo claws were fast enough to flick away most of her attacks.
With annoyance, she summoned up a small ball like energy and flicked it straight towards the Wendigo face to distract it. She slipped from behind and took out another dagger. Without much thought, she stabbed into it from behind, scaling its back.
Each vicious stab was meant to harm, but the bulking muscles weren't letting her get a good slice in. Either way, she kept climbing.
With a roar, the Wendigo tried to reach his back to pull Snow aside. She held on for her dear life, not to slip off.
Mike yelled, "Snow! Get off!"
Snow realized what he was doing, she jumped off.
A fiery sword rushed forward. Swinging overhead, Mike gave it a striking blow; the sword cut into the leg. A burst of electricity burst forth, followed by a burning smell of burnt skin.
Dairen shot multiple arrows, making it look like a porcupine, while Tamaki and Tommy simultaneously attacked in succession, fighting together with each other's beat. Mr. Everrett was behind them, casting a few supportive magic that increased their strength.
Snow ran up its body, her sword gleaming a pure white light. It sliced the neck, letting a stream of blood trail down. She hopped off, getting ready for another climb.
The Wendigo wavered, it fell onto its knees and fell forward in a loud thump.
Excited, and hopefully, she looked at the Wendigo, praying that it wouldn't get up. A few seconds passed, nothing.
With a loud yell, Mike placed his foot on Wendigo's body and pumped up his hand. The moonlight showing off the grand splendor of his armor and the people around him. They have won.
