《Angel's Song: Requiem of the Dreams》158. The Problem (I)

“Snow.” Mr. Rogers called her with a pleasant voice. “I need you to go to the dungeon we had planned on going a week later.”
“Why?” Snow asked, a bit too forcefully. She was still trying to get the nasty magic surrounding her, and her attention was divided.
“Because Mr. Zack took the whole army with him and is entering it as we speak.”
In disbelief, Snow couldn’t speak a word.
“I know. I know. This sounds a bit far fetched, but head towards that location. My hands are tied up right now, and my vampires won’t be here to assist.”
“Is this a favor?” Snow asked.
“No. It’s up to you if you want to go and stop them from committing suicide. I am just relaying a message.”
Snow clucked her teeth. She didn’t want people to aimlessly slaughter themselves against a high-level monster stupidly. Most of the people followed Mr. Zack because they were ordered too.
“Fine,” Snow replied. “I’ll need some backup.”
“I’ll send some in due time.”
Both of them hung up.
Heather smashed into Snow’s back, she cried out in pain. “Why did you stop?”
“We got a problem.”
“Such as?”
“We need to get to the final dungeon now.” Snow went into a run, flagging down a moving vehicle as she called Dairen.
It was an unusually long ride through the city. Most big interstate highways were being reconstructed, making their journey through the local roads a bit more tedious than before. There were bumps and sharp turns, sometimes unexpected potholes that were maneuvered around, but eventually, she had made it as close to the last dungeon as possible.
In the car, Dairen was brought up to speed in what she had been told.
“Snow, I’ll call up the rest of the other Hunters.” Heather jumped out of the car, blindly handing a large chunk of the bill towards the driver as she slammed the door right after.
“Thanks. I’ll keep in touch,” Snow replied and bolted off into a sprint.
She cut through a few buildings, trying to get to her destination as quickly as possible. Her armor materialized as magic boosted her power forward even faster. A streak of light split through the air, jumping, sprinting, and even zig-zagging through the streets as she dodged cars and people.
As she got closer and closer to her destination, she saw a large number of tanks and trucks carrying soldiers into the final gate that was centered in the middle of a war-torn area.

Shock riddled her very core, realizing how many low-level people were going into the dungeon with little monster hunting experience and gear. Their guns weren’t even enchanted with magic, making them useless against high-level monsters that the dungeon was known for.
Snow didn’t stop. She blazed through the very crowd, breaking forward towards the gate. Her helmet snapped on as her tail whooshed back and forth. She looked like a small scale monster in the eyes of the untrained soldiers that it alarmed them.
She made it to the gate, stopping in front of the soldiers that were in the process of entering. Snow didn’t know how many have already made it through, but she wouldn’t be surprised if a few hundreds had.
At first, everyone thought an angelic monster had descended upon the soldiers as Snow glittered with light.
“Stop!” Snow shouted, raising up her hands as a powerful barrier of light expanded around the gate. Anyone who tried to get through was bounced off, creating a division between herself and the gate.
Surprised at the sudden show of force, a few soldiers started firing at her. When the bullets unphased her barrier, a rocket launcher was sent. A sizzling hiss flew overhead, smashing into her barrier.
Snow stared straight ahead, unphased by the attack that was coming. The rocket collided against her shield, blowing up and causing the surrounding to shake vigorously. Smoke billowed outwards, causing many to cough. Eventually, the smoke cleared, and Snow was still standing with her barrier intact. She had not budged from her spot.
An older woman in uniform held up her hand, stopping the others from firing. She stepped forward, her hand behind her back in a bit stiff motion.
“Who are you?” The woman shouted, perplexed at the situation at hand. “Are you a monster?”
Snow unveiled her face. She frowned deeply. “I’m Snow, and you guys are too weak to be going through this portal.” She sternly said.
“Preposterous.” the woman scoffed at her remark. “We have just as much say on who can go into the dungeon. Your high level of awakened people think you run this city! You are wrong!”
Snow didn’t budge by her statement.
“We have just as much right to enter that dungeon!” The woman pointed at the dungeon, she glared at Snow. Even the soldiers behind her shook their heads and roared with an agreement in what she had to say.
The soldiers continued to throw vulgar words at her, shouting at her to move out the way.

“Enough!” A glisten of powerful surge of mana exploded outwards, shattering her barrier alongside it. The force of energy pushed everyone back, stumbling them onto the ground.
“Are you all idiots?!” Snow snapped. “You guys are like children just barely awoken from your magical gifts. To enter into a tigers den, you would all be slaughtered in a matter of days! Did your superiors not tell you that this dungeon specifically is a B Class level dungeon?! Even the high powered awakened Hunters and Players will have a hard time destroying this dungeon!”
A few were stunned when they heard this information. They looked towards the woman in rank for answers.
“Don’t listen to this fraud. All she wants to do is keep the treasure inside for herself.” The woman growled. “We are here to improve our power, now move.”
Snow dashed across the ground, appearing before the woman in front of her in a blink of an eye. Everyone was startled by the sheer speed that she had and the power that Snow displayed. When they saw her again in front of their commander, they couldn’t move.
“The stupid leader, leading the lamb to the slaughter because of their own greed.” Snow clucked her lips. She grabbed ahold of the woman’s neck, lifting her up in the air.
Light energy was spilling out from Snow as her armor glistened even more powerful with light, giving her a more blinding light than before. Everyone around her fell to their knees, choking on the blood lust that Snow was giving off.
“You can’t even handle this much energy, and you guys expect to enter in the dungeon that can give five times the amount of what I can put out,” Snow said with disgust.
There was only a small group of people who resisted. She was surprised to see them partially standing, trying to stay up from the energy while the rest of the people were already on their knees, trembling. Many couldn’t even look up because the light around her was sharp and deadly that could temporarily blind them if they tried.
The soft angelic figure was gone, and instead, in their eyes, a powerful being stood in place, ready to swing her power to crush them into submission. The only emotions lingered in their mind was fear. Fear for their lives as they knew they would all die if they took a step forward to challenge her.
Throwing the woman onto the ground, she turned away. The woman blacked out from the sheer energy that Snow had given off as she couldn’t stand up against it.
Snow increased her power even more at the ones that were still standing, trying to weather through their will to test them against their mental fortitude. The pressure increased, a few buckled, and fell onto their knees. Only ten were standing, shaking, and sweating bullets.
Licking her lips, Snow raised her power one more time. Her eyes sparkling, realizing that the people in front of her would become powerful individual beings later on.
Three more fell down on their knees, unable to bear through her baptism. Only seven remained standing, each holding on with sheer will alone. Snow was amazed at their tenacity, standing before her not willing to back down. She wanted to push them further as her energy increased.
Before she could push them a bit more, her name was called out from behind.
“Snow!” Dairen had shouted. Dispelling the magical energy that she had spread out all around her.
The people gasped, falling down onto the ground breathing a bit hard.
Dairen came over next to her. He looked around a bit confused about what was going on. “What just happened here?”
“Nothing.” Snow turned around, facing Dairen. “We need to take these guys away from the dungeon. I believe a large number of people have already entered the dungeon. Jack had decided to go in early.”
“Did he now.” Dairen crossed his arms. “I wouldn’t be too surprised if he is dead by now.”
“I wouldn’t be surprised either, but it would be better to keep the others from going ahead. I’m going to enter and kept them at the camp. I’ll wait for the others before we go for our scheduled dive.”
“You think that’s a good idea? Those guys are probably dead.”
Snow shook her head. “It's worth a shot. Plus, we barely have any trouble in the beginning when we enter, but let’s not jinx it.”
“What? You’re going to go in?”
“Yea, and take those seven that were just momentarily standing up to our guild. They will be handy later down the line.” Snow’s words were like a bolt of lighting, Dairen turned towards the group of people that she was talking about and saw the only seven people in army suits awake, while the rest of the people fainted.

The Depths of Magic
Synopsis It's the year 2052 and the release of the new next-generation full-dive VRMMO game called The Depths of Magic is hitting the world by storm. The game's technology will surpass all other games before it and shock the masses. Hector who goes by the name Locke inside the game is an experienced player of the genre. He is looking to continue his goal of enjoying gaming as well as the competition that goes along with competing for the top ranking spots. Novel Summary The Depths of Magic is a LitRPG novel focused on a Fantasy VRMMO setting. This is not a harem novel. In-Game systems The Depths of Magic features state-of-the-art technology never before seen in Hector's world. The key system the novel will bring up often is the Second Brain. The Second Brain system is more like a guidance AI for the players in the game that acts as if you had a second brain assisting your every action. How much guidance this AI will give is based on its experience or mastery skills a player will receive in the game. The guidance is seamless to a point where a player won't even realize they are being assisted, it's will feel like what they are doing is something they could always do. However, once they leave the game it will become quite apparent that they were receiving heavy guidance. The purpose of this system in a writing sense is to explain why a player can realistically become more powerful, more agile, or more skilled than they would otherwise be able to as a human. To give an example if someone could move faster than a bullet, how would a normal human brain be able to perceive and control this movement properly. Or how could a player who has never held a sword before become as experienced as someone who has trained with the sword all their lives? The magic system will be another focus of this novel. I don't want to spoil anything here but it should be an interesting one. The hope is that the system I have made will spark discussion between the readers on what combinations will do what. I already have most of it, but it will be fun to read as the author. Side notes My general focus for this novel is to attempt to make the in-game systems make sense. To give a vague example I have read a lot of novels of this genre and some have the habit of just creating such powerful items that it just breaks the system, and somehow the MC keeps finding challenging situations even with those items. What tends to happen when I read a novel like this I just ignore the stats of the items he is getting because the numbers don't even matter anymore. Release schedule: The chapter release schedule due to real-life complications is to release as I write them. Patreon setup: 1 chapter early release/discord access. Free content up to the current chapter includes an excel sheet that contains Locke's current stats at the end of the chapter. This is extra information for those that are interested.
