《Angel's Song: Requiem of the Dreams》169. The Dark Society (III)

Levian burst out laughing from watching the news. He knew that what she said was a half-truth, but the faith of Snow's success made him silently stand in place, staring at the idiocracy of blind faith. The number of things happening was changing drastically, and Snow was pulling powerful Heroes around her, pushing the waves and changes of the future in large waves.
He didn’t stop her. He needed her to keep doing what she was good at. Bringing people together for a common goal. The only problem he had was with Dairen, which he saw him as an annoying fly that circled around the Saintess.
“That is quite a bit of confidence in her,” Janet said, surprised at Sarah’s voice choice. “Already, Mike and Audrey had skyrocketed up the Player’s rank, becoming the top ten most powerful Players. Almost all leaders are up in the top one hundred ranked players. Don’t you think that the rank players would make much of an impact?”
Sarah nodded, “I’m quite sure that the Players will become a driving force in many main questlines, but most major questlines are centered around the Saintess as of now. Other multiple Main quest lines have been going on around to this day, but in Atlantis, the main quest revolves around her or the three top companies in this city.”
“True, but which guild do you think will grab first place in this dungeon?”
Sarah didn’t say anything. Instead, she turned her back on her, leaving Sarah behind.
“Well, I guess I won’t be getting an answer, but in my opinion, I put my bet on the Gold Phoenix's success,” Janet spoke. A bit hurt that her idol ignored her, but she kept it from showing too much. “The second wave is about to go into effect today, which is an exciting thing to happen.” She said with a bit of a glee that didn’t seem a bit appropriate for the news.
“Either way, we need to go and grab the best seats.” Janet pointed, heading straight towards the gate. She climbed over walls and a few more things that were considered dangerous for someone like her.
The gate started to rumble and glow dangerously red, signaling the beginning of the Overflow. People stood back, holding their weapons in front of them, getting ready for whatever was coming through.

Suddenly, the first monster spilled out from the gate. But for some reason, the number of monsters that were making their way outwards was a lot fewer than usual. The gate glistened for a moment more, before it finally dimmed down, telling that the OverFlow was over.
“Is it over?” Sarah asked, confused about what was going on. “Isn’t there supposed to be more?”
She glanced over towards her crew, who gave her a shrug of shoulder baffled at monsters' low amount of appearance. Even she felt out of place at the odd occurrence. Everyone knew that the Overflow was known for its terrible amount of monsters that would spill out and destroy large numbers of people and cities, but this time for a second time, the monsters were even less than before.
“I guess we are done?” Sarah cocked her head.
Levian snorted. He turned off the t.v as his hand rubbed his forehead for a moment. Then he leaned back, chuckling and eventually laughing out loud at the predicament that he just saw.
“So, they succeeded on their second wave.” Levian stopped laughing. He clasped his hand in front of him. “Well, it seems I need to make my move then.”
Reaching over towards the side, he picked up his phone. Out of the blue, No.13 phone call came through, vibrating in his hand.
A knowing smile erupted on his lips. He snickered, clearing his throat, he answered with a lazy voice. “Hello?”
*****
Another week had gone by without much disturbance from the final gate. It was abnormally quiet, making everything a bit too easy for the people. Everyone started to slack as the city was quickly being rebuilt.
Levian walked in front of the gate, disappointed at the people who were just lazing around as if the gate wasn’t a big deal. He stopped, staring at it for a moment.
A few people stepped out from the shadows when they saw Levian as they bowed towards him.
“You guys are a bit late.” Levian spok with a bit of annoyance. He liked being on time and getting things cranking without being slow, and he still felt that the underworld wasn’t taking him seriously when he stated that they needed to move now to change the fate of history.
“What is your order?” A man asked who was wearing simple black jeans and a t-shirt with a cap over his head. They got up, waiting for his orders.

“Stay put,” Levian stated.
One of them started to ask again. “What exactly would you be doing?”
Levian didn’t say anything.
“Would we be entering as well?”
“No,” Levian stated.
Levian took a good look at the gate even longer. A smile erupted on his lips, excited about what would happen next.
The things he gathered in the dungeons were brought forward from his pocket. Smashing it together as it burned in front of the dungeon. Black flames licked his fingers, completely retracting the items in hand.
With a groan, the gates groaned. Turning the whole gate black and deep red. It gave off a hazardous static electricity that would make anyone run away screaming.
“What are you doing?!” One of the people that stood by asked in horror at his actions.
Levian was getting tired of the constant badgering and the questions. He wanted to throw the man into the gate as well but stopped himself.
He took a step backward. Looking into the very depths of the gate that screamed an unholy shrieked that made even Levian shiver. There weren’t many things in life that would make him uncomfortable, but this was one of them.
“Are you going to kill everyone in the gate?”
Levian snapped towards the man, he snatched him off the ground. “Enough with your annoying questions.”
The man was dangling off the ground, his eyes were starting to roll over white. Foaming in his mouth.
Throwing him aside as he skimmed the ground with pain. He coughed wildly, fear and a bit of anger flowing in his eyes.
“It is their choice to grow or die inside the dungeon.” Levian turned around, leaving the wild, chaotic gate that was going crazy. “Let the real game begin.”
Levian left, leaving the scene with cold eyes.
Levian stood in place temporarily, staring at the mirror in his hand. It was different from the others that he had as it was an artifact that he had taken in the first dungeon. It was an annoying search as it took longer for him to find that, he thought.
Breaking the first dungeon down took longer than expected in dragging the virgins' bodies into the dungeon. Personally, he only pushed the number of body counts by an extra few more, but the rest was done by a murderer that he was hunting down. Plus, he wasn’t a fan of killing just anyone.
Every single one of his prey were murders or mass murders that he foresaw and would become a problem to the future. Even if he must become evil itself, he would gladly take down that path as he believed that it was the only way.
He watched the dungeon inside, furrowing his eyes when he saw Mike barely miss a hair breath away from dying. He knew his old friend would push through.
Levian put the mirror away and began walking through the long winding hallway. It was the
same route that he had taken when he had the meeting with the under lords.
Already, he was expecting a more favorable opinion. Honestly, he was confident that they would all cave over towards his demands.
With a light whistle, he walked without much care.
A few seconds later, he felt an annoying gaze that wouldn’t stop staring at him. His hand slipped in his pocket, throwing out a dagger as it hit bulls eyes on their forehead. A man in black suits fell dead on the ground.
“Really?” Levain sighed at their poor attempt of surveillance and assassination if it was even that in the first place.
Another shadow ran headed straight for him in the back.
Levian barely dodged it out of the way, annoyed at their attempts. He grabbed the arm, flipping the person onto the ground. A loud gasp escaped out of their lips.
“You know you guys need to try better than this,” Levian whimsically stated. “This is just too easy.”
Levian arrived in front of the door, his hand reached up to push back his hair. For a moment, he waited.
He stood up straight, changing his facial features to a more cocky, lustful, and insane personality that he was using as a farce. He stepped forward out into the world with an evil smile, ready to tackle the next step.
He was ready.
No.
He believed he was doing the right thing.
A glimmer of red and blue sparkled in his eyes as he stepped out the door.
