《Angel's Song: Requiem of the Dreams》221. Levian's words

Snow woke up in a daze. She sat up. A few memories had spilled over in her mind, bringing back some questions on what she had done in the last central dungeon against the legendary creatures that cursed her. She felt like a fool for leaving her close friends behind and running out of the building.
Other than that, she still couldn’t remember a large chunk of things.
She slapped her forehead, sighing deeply. Cruising at herself for unable to remember such important people, she wondered how they would react when she was finally freed from the curse?
Mike would be ecstatic. Red would be Red and would have cheered alongside Mike. On the other hand, Dairen...her mind trailed off to the heated kiss that they shared. In an instant, her cheeks flared red. Quickly, raising both her hand to her cheek, she rubbed it fiercely as if rubbing it would make it go away.
The lingering heat didn’t make it any better. Snow plopped back down onto the bed, throwing her cover over her head. She stays still, breathing in deeply, trying to get the thoughts out of her mind. For a few seconds, her feet and arms wildly moved under the cover in embarrassment until she finally stopped.
“It’s just a kiss, Snow.” Snow repeated. “Just a kiss. Grow up.” This time with a lot more force. She was slowly but surely reverting to her usual self. Even though she didn’t remember everything, it was as if a piece of her was back.
The cold gleam in her eyes became more confident. Pushing herself up from the bed, she threw the cover off of her. Suddenly, she noticed Levian standing not too far away. In his hand, he had two cups of tea.
Snow yelped in surprise. “W-w-what are you doing here?” She scrambled to pull the blanket close to her chest, which she noticed she was only wearing a tank top and shorts.
“Taking care of you.” Levian had come over and handed her the tea. “Don’t worry, I saw you act like a fool for a good few minutes.”
Hesitantly, Snow grabbed the warm tea, allowing it to wash over her hand and down her body. She unconsciously focused on the tea at hand. For some reason, she couldn’t look up as she was even now more embarrassed.
“You looked like you were throwing quite a tantrum under that blanket. What got you so heated?”

“I-” Snow raised up her tea, gulping it. With a hiss, she coughed. Her tongue was on fire as it was scalded from drinking too fast. She waved her hand in front of her tongue in the hopes of cooling it.
“Slow down. That tea is not going to go anywhere.” Levian chuckled. “I swear, you still do the same thing whenever you get flustered.”
Snow frowned. She dropped her hand down and placed the tea to the side. “I still don’t remember you.”
“Which I suspected you wouldn’t.” Levian slowly drank his tea. He took a seat next to the chair that was present near the bed.
“You knew?”
“Yes,” Levian said with a nod. He crossed his leg.
“How?” Snow eyed him wearily, almost glaring at him. As time went by, she felt that Levian was a mystery and just as dangerous as she had first met him. The nagging feeling of wariness was still present around him, reminding her that Levian was more than meets the eye.
“A gift.”
“Right….” Snow didn’t believe him. She rolled her eyes.
“I swear to the God of Light and Darkness.” Levian gave her a gentlemanly smile, “that I am telling you the truth.”
His words were heavy with magic. She knew that once he had sworn his words, what he said would be scrutinized by the higher power. It was something not many would dare to state in the presence of a God, mostly because when broken, they were bound to be reparations that equal to their words, and many times it didn’t bode too well.
“How far have you remembered?”
“So far, the recent large scale invasion into the S-Class dungeon.”
“That’s it?”
“No, I know I am called the Saintess by many.”
“Not terrible.” Levian placed his tea down. He then leaned forward, clasping his hand. There was a heavy air around Levian that made Snow uncomfortable.
Snow tilted her head. She thought she heard the sound of music playing out in the living room, but she wasn’t so sure. The silence between the two of them was so heavy that she thought she could cut it with a butter knife.
“I have two questions, and I want you to answer honestly.”
Crossing her hand, she waited for his question.
“What are you going to do now that you remember?”

Snow didn’t really think about her next step. She was too engrossed with her memories returning that she had forgotten what she was even supposed to do.
“I haven’t thought of it yet.”
“Okay, that’s understandable. I am assuming that you need some time to piece everything together.”
Snow nodded.
“My next question. What is Dairen to you?”
Levian’s word shook her up. The feeling in her chest blossomed and contracted, making her uncomfortable. Her throat became dry, and her hand began to sweat.
Levian’s gaze's intensity was becoming stronger, making it even more difficult for her to speak.
Why was it so hard for her to say anything?
“A really good friend.”
“Right...So a really good friend kisses you.”
“Well!” Unable to say anymore, she looked away.
“I suspected as much.” Levian seems to be disappointed in her. “He’s your boyfriend, isn’t he.”
“No.” Snow snapped her words. She didn’t remember confessing. “Not yet….”
“Yet?”
“Damn it! Why are you interrogating me about my love life?!” Snow fumed. When it came to the relationship, she wasn’t good with it. Every time, she would stumble around and blush from embarrassment.
“Because you are my friend.” Levian had carefully said.
The weight of Levian’s word had a hint of heaviness to it, a nostalgia that she had wondered where it came from.
“I’m just telling you now. Dairen's going to kill many people.”
“And you didn’t?” Snow didn’t believe that Levian had dyed his hand with blood. She could smell it on his clothes; every once in a while, she went by. “I could smell it on you now.”
Levian raised up his arm, sniffing it a few times. He then tilted his head and looked over towards her. “I’m surprised that you can smell it.”
“So you did kill people.”
“And what if I said I did?”
Snow bolted up from her bed, grabbing her watch from the table. Her sword White Gryphon appeared from her hand.
Levian was kicked backward by Snow. Her sword pointed dangerously by Levian’s neck as she gazed down.
“Your answers are always so predictable, Snow.” Levian chuckled. “I never get tired of it.” The insane glimmer in his snake-like eyes was present, he had his hand raised up, and he pushed his hair back.
“Why are you keeping me near you?” Snow asked, her right foot was on his chest, pushing him down from standing. “A killer like you, what business do you have with someone like me?”
“To help you, of course.”
“Lies.”
“But it is the truth. Without me, you wouldn’t remember.”
Snow couldn’t refute this truth.
“Do you want to know why you don’t hear voices when you are around me? But, it is worse around Dairen?”
“Why.” Snow pressed down a bit harder.
“You are a Saintess. Every spirit will come to you in the hopes of being brought back to life. Your skills as a Saintess, resurrecting them back to life, attract many souls around you. While Dairen is an undead summoner, which also brings back a different crowd of spirits near him. He brings back the dead and puts them back in a skeletal body. The amount of souls that both of you bring brought more pain to your mind than you could handle, but I am different.” Levian had said with pride in his voice. “I destroy the souls that come near me, bringing with it the silence that you desired.”
Snow squinted, “So, you just up and decide to help me, why?”
“Because you were my lover in my first life. I should have been in the position of where Dairen had been, but in this life, I didn’t.”
Snow was confused at his outburst, wondering why he was bringing up such fantastical words.
“Are you trying to take his place?”
“No.” Levian spat. “I just know what will happen with this world. The ending that I had seen and experienced.”
“You’re lying.”
“Yes, I do lie, but this I wouldn’t dare. If you don’t believe me, just stake me now and let this all be over with. Let there truly be an end to this world we live in.”
Snow started, her handshaking. Should she have demolished this crazy person before her? Maybe send him to jail and be done with it.
She stood in silence, unable to do anything more but to glare down at him. She pulled her sword away.
