《Angel's Song: Requiem of the Dreams》296

Levian, at first, didn’t notice that Snow, Dairen, and Mike were dangling off his leg. Each of them pulled themselves up, trying to get up onto Levian’s leg or back. On the other hand, Mike was spinning a bit out of control as he was having difficulty climbing upwards. As a result, his body smashed into multiple buildings over and over again.
While Dairen climbed upwards efficiently without much trouble. When he was at the top, he quickly used the same rope and shot an arrow at the nearest broken building.
It wrapped around tightly over the pole until finally, the rope twisted around the building a few more times.
With a vicious yank, the rope turn taught, pulling Levian back with a halt. They were pulled back. Levian faltered in the air, turning in mid-flight as he dangerously slammed into the very wall.
Snow's heart palpitated. A skyscraper was coming deadly closer and closer.
A powerful crash slammed into the very building wall.
Headfirst, Snow jumped, rolling on the ground as Levian went through the building.
Both Mike and Dairen toppled off Levian and fell onto the building floor. They rolled and skidded across the ground.
Levian stopped halfway into the building. He blinked a few times as he shook his head. Streams of heavy smoke rolled out of his nose and mouth, furious that he was momentarily stopped.
Looking around, Levian claws reached out to push himself out of the debris that covered him.
“Who dares?!” Levian growled. His eyes glistened deadly red.
“Me.” Dairen pushed up from the floor. He brushed off the debris and quickly pulled out his bow. Then, knocking an arrow, he fired.
A dark arrow flew true, straight into the eyes of the dragon.
With a roar, Levian threw back his head. A burst of blood dripped out of his eyes. Fire spurted out of his chest as he blew monstrous amounts of fire all around him. Flames burned through the metal, taking pieces of it.
Another arrow flew true. This time it headed straight for Levian’s second eye.
Levain’s wing snapped up, covering his face. The arrow bounced off as he glared at Dairen.

“I should have completely destroyed your soul.” Levian hissed. “Your existence has always been a bane to my life.”
Levian raised up his hand, his claws came smashing down onto Dairen.
Dairen dodged, rolling out of the way. He fired another arrow as he rolled out.
A powerful blast of energy shot through the air, this time nicking Levian’s other eye.
“That’s more like it!” Mike shouted with excitement. The power of his sword started to glow with a vicious glimmer of electricity all over again. “You’re mine!”
Mike ran forward, his sword swinging with the sword. With a heavy arch, Mik jumped. His sword glistened. This time, he aimed at the area that Dairen had caused damage. Lighting struck, aiming directly at Levian's eye.
The lightning struck.
Levian roared with pain.
Mike continued his onslaught of attacks. Even though most of his sword did not cut through any of Levian's thick scales, but a few he was able to crack through Levian’s skin.
Snow chanted. She had a burst of light energy swell in her body.
Her words became stronger and stronger. The light around her glistened. There was something about this attack that called upon her very soul.
Her mind was blank as if she was part of the world, listening to the rhythm of the breath of movement. As Snow sent out the burst of energy that seemed to grow around, moving, shaking, jumping, and turning.
Thousands of tiny beams of light cut through the air, becoming a torrent of power that hammered down on her enemies.
At first, it overwhelmed, covering every inch of Levian. But, then, the light licked every inch of Levian’s body.
Snow hoped that Levian wouldn’t get up. Instead, however, she paid close attention, watching what he would do.
Levian slumped.
“Did we get him?” Mike asked. He was huffing, tired from the swing of his blade. Sweat trickled down his face with an exhausted expression. His sword slammed down into the ground as he leaned forward.
“I hope so.” Dairen had carefully walked over. His hand was still on his bow, watching Levian for any possible movement.

“I thought I got him good,” Mike replied. “I don’t know if I have enough in me to do another.
Snow felt drained, tired from the explosive energy that came from her body. She needed a bit of time to recuperate from the strenuous magical attack that flowed out of her.
Suddenly, a blast of dark energy washed out of Levian’s body.
Everyone was thrown backward.
They each hit against the ground hard. Both Mike and Dairen slumped on the ground, knocked out temporarily.
Snow rolled a few feet away, tumbling around heavily until she hit against a broken stone slab.
“Argh.” Snow grunted. She should have expected that blast of energy, but she didn’t. So instead,
she let down her guards.
“Nooooooooooooooooooooo!” Levian Roared. His body twisted and changed, becoming more chaotic and dark.
All around Levian, the heavy fog appeared.
The ground rumbled and groaned.
In the fogs, dark shadows of the dead started to emerge from the shadows. They were burnt and dead humans that Levian had killed. With each faltering step, the shadows headed straight toward Levian.
It was a ghastly sight.
The rotten stench of cabbage and decayed body wafted strongly in the air, becoming an ugly mixture of death and decay.
Snow hacked, wanting to throw up. Even though she had smelled death before, she didn't expect the heavy blow. Instead, it made her want to puke.
The ghastly shadows converge onto Levian, wiggling and becoming stronger and stronger.
The dead on his body and skin screamed and stretched. A ghastly howl screeched out of the mouth of these creatures.
It was straight out of the horror movie.
Snow gulped. Her skin crawled as Levian was turning into an abomination. She had never seen such a creature between death and a black dragon. It was harsh and ugly, a creature that should not exist in this world.
“Snow.” Levian’s voice was deep and dangerous. First, the bloody eyes on his face were staring at her. Then, more and more eyes appeared on his body, adjusting its attention to her.
Levian raised his claws and pounded into the ground.
A burst of dark energy smacked out from the ground as tentacles of dark vines burst forward.
Snow scrambled up on her feet. She dodged to the left as she danced out of the way from being entangled by the oncoming vines.
Quickly, she dove. Reaching over toward the blade, she grabbed it as she got up.
Snow bolted, heading to the right. She shot out multiple swords of light that appeared around her. Each swinging in their own directions destroyed the shadows that appeared around her.
It was ugly.
The shadows grew in numbers.
The sword around her moved faster as she, too, fought her way through the entanglement of the darkness that seemed to take one more step closer.
“Get back!” Snow roared, the sword of light swung around her like an ugly tornado, but the shadows kept coming.
Suddenly, they stopped.
Levian feet thumped as it shook the ground.
The shadows parted ways like the sea. Levian walked over slowly but smugly.
“Snow.”
“Levian.” Snow replied back. She stared back. Her sword in front of her.
“Give up, Snow.”
“No.”
“You will lose.”
“I dare not stop.”
Levian chuckled. Black flames erupted out of his nose and mouth.
“You have chosen the wrong side, Snow. You should have followed me.”
“I do not believe I should helplessly follow someone else's decision. I make my own decisions and choices. Not because of yours or my friends, but mine.” Snow replied with a serious expression.
“Interesting,”
“How so?”
“The same belief and answer. This was why I liked you.” Levian opened his wings, flapping them hard over and over again. “Let me show you what I mean.” He started to float in the air.
Snow knew that if she did not move now, she would lose this chance. So, with quick feet, she bolted forward. Jumping up as she grabbed onto Levian’s feet as she scaled quickly up to his body and onto his side, trying to get up onto his neck.
Levian flapped, pulling up into the sky.
Snow held on tightly.

The Yes-Mage
Plenty of people have stopped and asked what it'd be like to simply have everything, and Sylvain Henry Camille Johansson was no different. He was a man who had a lot of things going on, with a name that'd make a supervillain blush and a family who'd make even the useless of their rank into someone important. It was a shame, then, that he was slapped with a dreadfully unfortunate condition that kept him from living up to any of those already low expectations. Stuck living a life where magic is everywhere while he's left working with nothing more than a moderate intellect, a little bit of whatever influence he could get from his family, and a lifetime's practice at making himself the ideal subordinate for his bosses' boss, Vane was still beating the odds and slowly working his way up in the world. When the cunning yes-man finally got a chance to really make a name for himself, he leapt at the offer, taking his first real step onto a road he knew he was always meant to walk. His goal? Nothing less than finding out why he and too many other unfortunate souls are barred from the wonderful world of the higher energies, and with any luck, fixing it. Of course, life has a knack for interfering in even the humblest of plans, and Vane's lofty ideals were anything but humble; he was practically a walking bullseye for disaster. The funny thing about catastrophe, though, is that nobody can ever say what form it's going to take. That’s why, when it all went wrong for Vane, he'd gotten everything he'd ever wanted foisted onto him, and Everything else, too. Watch as a man so used to saying 'yes' to everyone above him finds himself stuck with the power to make reality itself say it back.

The Epiphany Colony
Brad Asher has been a private detective on the Epiphany Colony orbiting Mars for about a year before stumbling into a conspiracy that threatens the safety and stability of the colony. Note that the story here is the first draft and has a lot of ideas, characters, and plotlines that I ended up dropping in the final version that I released here currently available on Kindle Unlimited. The entire second half was restructured, as I ended up not being satisfied with some of the things that I introduced and felt like it had strayed too far from my initial vision of a space-based detective noir story.
