Chapter 10-Skeletons
For a day Sear thought about what he could do. He didn’t know what he had to improve on. He already knew how to enchant himself, so while this knowledge would make his enchantments stronger it would be the same thing.
He though until he came to a conclusion, the only problem, is that he would need many bones. One thing he had learned when going into this new layer of magic, was that with his energy he could reform boned and create skeletons with them.
He could change a human bone into a dragon bone and if he had enough boned be could be able to create an entire dragon skeleton that would act almost like an undead he would raise.
He remembered that there was a cemetery in the town, but he doubted that they would let him take the bones from it. He came up with a plan, and when the night came he began it.
Once the darkness took over, he moved over to the cemetery and began to use his magic. His new knowledge allowed him to gather up all the boned in it and move them aboveground, where he levitated them hundreds of meters above him in danger of being spotted.
He ran from the village with the bones following nearly a mile ahead.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
After running for 2 hours, he came to a large cave connected with the wall of the cavern. He walked in moved all the bones in. There had to be at least 1,000 dead body’s worth of boned there.
He sat once again, and began to concentrate. He could see all of the bones around him with his mind, and began to move some of them around. He reformed a bone structure similar to the small assistant Herj had.
He looked at it and began to change the bones. While it was a tedious process, he managed to change it. Its skull had been elongated backwards into a spike. Its legs and arms had gotten thicker and a fraction larger. He hardened its ribs and made its teeth sharper and his jaw larger. Its feet and arms gained claws at the ends.

In the end, it looked like a really burly man that had claws and a jabbed skull. With one last push on magic, he wove energy into the skeleton and it came to life. In front of him was a being that went up to his shoulders.
It looked as if it could take multiple hits from hard weapons, and its skull seemed to be like a shield. He decided to call it a Bone Guardian.
He tried to communicate with it, and found out while he could telepathically talk to it, it could not talk back. Maybe in the future a more advanced skeleton of his would. In his mind he could see the exact process needed to recreate it, and by the end of the day he had created 4 more.
Now that he had them, he realized that they had no weapons that they could use in battle. That was now his next task. He created 3 different models of what he could use for weapons.
The first was a large great sword that was cumbersome for even this beast to carry. It carried large destructive power behind it, as whenever it collided with something, the momentum would push it meters away. He gave it to a single one of his creations.
The next weapon he made was a large 3 meter long pole with a ball of skulls on the end. The skulls would act as the end of a mace. He also decided to make a large 1 ½ meter tall shield made from connected shoulder blades. He gave this to 2 of the Bone Guardians.
Lastly, he made a pair of thin yet long swords. Each measured up to a meter and were made of finger bones. He gave the pairs to the last 2 guardians. Lastly, he imbued all of the weapons with dark energy, making both them and anything that wielded them multitudes more dense, basically allowing him to make 5 tanks.
With this done, he created a wall of energy between him and the outside, and went to sleep.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Once he awoke, he saw that the guardians had stayed at the same place. He commanded them to all stand at the entrance of the cave, and to kill anything that attempted to enter.

They all walked off with a rattling of bones rubbing and crushing together. His next creation would have to be a much faster and agile beast.
He looked at his supply of bones. Making all of the weapons and guardians had used about 10% of all the bones. It seemed that changing the bones used a ridiculous amount of bones.
He began to work on the new creature. This time, he shrunk the body even more than before. This time, he made the bones even denser than before. While these would be much faster, they would need to have a much higher defense to counter their size.
In the end, he kept the same human shape, but made the arms and legs almost double in size. Their fingers were also elongated, and instead of making separate weapons, he turned the fingers into sharp bones that could bend. He had made being who had a malleable bone sword.
He elongated the creature’s foot to allow it to have a bigger surface to use to maneuver itself with.
Now it was time for him to bring it to life. One thing he had learned while making the weapons, is that the more energy you put into a certain area, the stronger it’s “muscles” in that area would be.
Knowing this, he added large amounts of energy to his creation’s arms and legs, making his clawed hands strong enough to cut through thick steel armor. One again, the being appeared before him.
He testing it out, by telling it to run around at its fastest. Sear was surprised to see the now called Flashing Bone zip around the room at speeds that would make Sear’s enchanted self to seem like a slug. It stopped after looping around the ceiling and colliding with Sear’s body.
He created another one, and began to walk to the entrance.
((Just wanted to say, from now on, whenever you see italicized dialogue, it is Sear talking to his creations. – Zono))
“Come here Bone Guardians.” They all came to him, and with a thought he created a layout for them to follow him. He had his two Flashing Bones to stand to his left and right behind him, and had the Guardians created a V formation behind those two.
With that he began to casually walk towards the village, not wanting to rush himself and lose the slow guardians.
On the way, they encountered a large mutated deer. It had sharpened antlers, and was about 5 meters tall. “Guardians, surround it and begin to pepper it with attacks. Flashings, whenever you see openings, go in and do as much damage as possible.”
He watched as the battle commenced. As he said, the 5 guardians began to surround it, with the great sword wielding one at its head. It sent a lethargic swing downward, and when the sword collided with one of the antlers, it snapped off of the beast.
The mutated deer raised it’s from legs and kicked at the guardians. At the same time, the two Flashings zoomed in from behind it and each one cut into vital points on its legs. The first one cut into the hamstrings of the back two legs, while the other slashed at its Achilles tendon.
The beast collapsed as it was no longer able to support itself. The guardians saw this and began to attack every part of its body, shearing off chunks of meat that looked to be cut by a dull knife. The flashings, as to not be undone, dashed onto the deer’s back and began to crisscross its body with their claws.
In a matter of seconds the deer was dead, and they were walking away, Sear proud of what he had done.

What Was Lost Outside Time
What happens to a mind, subjected to an infinite span of time? What remains, when it is taken out again? This is the story of an individual reborn after such time has passed that nothing remains of what it was; an individual who must learn once again what it is to be, beginning with awareness of the idea of awareness, and growing from there; from awareness of self, to awareness of others, to awareness of society, and on. This is the story of a mind; growing, learning, adapting, and becoming more. -- Currently the first three chapters are - well, kind of experimental. I both like and hate these; they were a pain to write, and I'm told by at least one person that they're painful to get through, but I think something like them is necessary to set one of the basic ideas about the way the story is written. It gets slightly more normal after that, the first arc of the story is rather "battle school", and I think I may need to go back and edit it - the characterization didn't end up working out as well as I had originally hoped, unfortunately, and ended up rather weak to my eye. I may go back and add a sub-plot or two, depending on how well I can handle the intended perspective shift of the second arc. -- Currently on hiatus, in case that wasn't obvious. I'm debating between rewriting large portions of what I've already written, and just finishing out the story, but either way, I don't actually have a clear idea of what I want to do right now. If I'm still feeling the same way in a few months I'll put a chapter up explaining where the story was going, maybe, so the people who have enjoyed it can know where the story was intended to go, and close this out.
