Chapter 18-Rebirth
“Why are we still here? It’s been 10 days and still he haven’t found anything.” After the collapse of the cavern, hundreds of treasure hunters and mercenaries came to try to find some long treasure. Currently, ten days had passed but John’s group had yet to find anything.
“There is still a chance. We still have much land to find.” Jim responded back to John. He was the leader of the expedition, and he wouldn’t stop until he found something. “Now get back to digging John, Lord Here isn’t paying us to sit around.”
Standing back up, John went back to his digging.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
“Oiii! I think I’ve found me something!” One of the expedition members in the distance threw a rock up, indicating where he was. John and the rest ran over, wanting to see what he found.
In his hands was a piece of white cloth. It seemed to be made out of silk. “Do ya think there could something near that this came from?” The expedition member looked at Jim and asked.
“There might… Ok everyone, focus on digging within 100 feet of this finding. We have some money to make.” They all walked off, picking up their shovels.
John was lucky, and he had earth magic that he could dig with. The bad part was that it was extremely weak, and the most he could dig was a cubic meter of dirt. He would then have to wait almost 10 minutes to get his energy back before he could dig another.

POV CHANGE
“Grand Father James, according to the mana crystals, a large influx of mana was sensed before the collapse. It seems most likely that Father Simons had to use his Angelic Form to fight the dark magic user. At the same time though, enough dark energy was summoned that it equaled Father Simon’s Angelic Form.”
“The two probably fought and died once the cavern collapsed onto them.” James looked over and took this information in.
“Has there been no more dark or holy magic sensed from that area?”
“No Grand Father. Since the last large surge of energy all the energy there has disappeared. The only magic being sensed from there is the Earth Mages digging away at the rubble.”
“Another topic Grand Father, what will happen if people find out that the collapse was partially cause by us? The collapse ended up destroying 4 different villages and killed around 900 people.”
“We will just simply tell people that it was in the name of god. Nobody is dumb enough to go against god.” After saying this, Grand Father James walked away, leaving the Priest there.

POV CHANGE
“I found two bodies!” John looked over at Jim and ran over, almost tackling one of the other diggers.
In front of him were two completely bashed bodies. One was of a 20 to 30ish year old man. He seemed quite fit and his body was covered in blood and bruises. The other body was a teenage aged boy with pitch black hair. He also had bruises and blood covering most of their body.
Kneeling down Jim went to close their eyelids but once he touched their bodies he felt something. Heartbeats. They were both still alive, somehow, barely.
“They’re alive! Quick Get them to the tent and send a message out to the nearest healer!” Jim shouted out orders while getting the only first aid supplies they had been given, 3 ounces of healing balm.
Applying fair amounts onto both bodies, he covered them up and waited for the healer.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
“Ok, they are both alive and should be in a stable condition by now. All we have to do now is wait for them to wake up and then ask them what had happened.” Jim thanked the healer and sat down next to the two, waiting for them to wake up.
He would not leave their side for days if he had too. The amount of money he could make from saving two people.
He had people take shifts digging, while most of the others just waited along with him for one to wake up.
A few days later, the older man woke up.
“Where… where am I?” The man looked extremely groggy, but immediately perked up once he saw the boy’s body.
“You are at one of the expeditions sent out to find anything left behind from the collapse of the cavern. It’s a miracle you’re still alive. Do you know this young man?” The man pointed to the dark mage, and Simons was about to kill him on the spot, but held back.
“I do, if you could for me, once he awakes tell him that I will be seeing him in the future.” Simons stood up and left, his clothes still in tatters while Jim could do nothing but watch in amazement at how casually the man acted even after this.
Shrugging, he sat down once more and waited for the boy to wake up. Thankfully, the boy woke up only hours later.
“Where am I? Who are you people?” The boy sat straight up and looked as if he was about to hurt someone to get his answers.

“Wow, wow relax. We found your body after digging the remains of the collapse of the cavern. There was another man we found with you, do you know him?”
Sear jumped up. “Where is he? I need to know now!”
“Wow, relax. He left a few hours ago and went southeast. He also told us to save a message for you. He said that he would see you in the future.” Sear cursed at the fact that his opponent hadn’t died.
“Ok, thank you, but I must go now. Also, could you show me a map of where we are right now?” The men spoke between themselves before finally answering Sear.
“Sure… here’s a map of the country we are in. Good luck out there.” Sear walked out of the cave while inspecting the map. It seemed that he was currently in the country of Zelfin. Its northernmost boarder stopped right at the edge of where the ravine was, so it was no surprise that he had been dug out in their area after the collapse.
As he left the camp he began thinking about where he should go. He now had no city, all his soldiers were gone, and so it would be hard for him to take an entire city.
What if I start with a small village? Looking at the map once more, Sear found a small village that went by the name of Porg. It was quite small and was also next to the coastline, which meant that with enough time he should be able to convert it into a capital city.
So let’s see what I have to do at the village. Firstly, make connections. I don’t want to have to fight another “noble” so it would be good if everyone accepted me. Two, take over the village and turn it into my type. Third, slowly grow the city and turn it into a large enough city that it could be a capital, then expand outwards from there. In his head it sounded simple enough. Now it was time for him to begin to run to the village.
As luck would have it, the village was on the North-West while the Ravine was on the North-Western part of the country. It would take him at least 4 days of all out sprinting to reach it.
Not wanting to waste time, Sear began running towards the village.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Oh the way to the village, many important things happened. Firstly, he had been stopped around 11 times and now had some decent gear after killing everyone who stopped him.
He also learned that he could reanimate humans, though their lack of any intelligence whatsoever was a downside.
On the way, he had also heard that Megribil, his home country, was on the brink of revolt. With so many nobles killed that night when he went crazy, the town slowly began to travel down the path of chaos.
Nothing interesting happened again until he reached the village. Not wanting to scare anyone, he stopped running with his power a while beforehand and instead choose to walk at a leisurely pace.
Upon reaching the village he realized it was just as shabby as he had expected. There were around 15 buildings at most, and the wall surrounding the village was just a 2 meter high and 10 centimeter thick wall of wood.
Walking through the opening in the wall, Sear looked around and attempted to find the thing most resembling a tavern. For a village on the coast, it also had a surprisingly small port. There were 2 fishing boats and the actual port looked like it would fall apart if anything that weighed over 10 pounds stepped on it.
Walked over to the largest building he found, he walked in. There were only two men in there, one which Sear assumed to be the barkeeper, and someone else.
Walking over, Sear began to speak.
“Excuse me, but do any of you have a place I could stay for the night? I will pay of course.”
The men stared at him for a while longer before speaking back. “Ayyy, we have a room, but why should we rent it too ya?” Sear sat there stunned for a few seconds.
Why they should let me rent it?! CAUSE I’M PAYING GODDAMNIT!
“Because I’m paying for it. Is there a bigger reason?” The two began to stare daggers at each other until the other man interrupted.
“Just let him rent the room Gee. No use in fighting about extra cash.”
The other man picked up a key handing it to Sear. “5 copper.” Giving him the key, Sear walked into the room and fell asleep for the first time in around a week.

Sorcery in Boston
The timid daughter of some of the greatest spellcasters ever to have lived has found herself in another world, courtesy of magic gone awry. In Boston, Massachusetts, in the year 1935, she finds some kind souls in a hard era. In the heart of the Great Depression, as war looms around the corner, she seeks to find her place, and must come to terms with both who she is and what she truly desires. Author's Notes: Release Note: I recently realized what the hold up is. My current mental state is not compatible with the planned ending. If I wrote the ending according to what currently feels right, it will be a wretched, cruel ending that feels monstrously unfair and invalidates the work of the various characters... because that's how my life feels at the moment. The planned ending is coming out hollow and awkward, no matter how I write it, and so I've been bashing my head. I will finish it, once I manage to either brute force something decent out, or once my head gets screwed on straight. Audience: This story is not for young children - it contains some profanity, sexual content, violence, gore, and significant adult themes. Most of these are handled delicately enough not to upset teens or adults (hopefully), hence the lack of relevant tags, but it is nonetheless unsuitable for youth. It's fairly slow paced, and focused on the development of very human, very flawed individuals. Length / Completion Estimates: The outline currently involves two books. Book 1 is expected to be done with Chapter 43. It'll probably be completely finished by sometime in March of this year. I expect to move on to the far-more-lighthearted Of Gods and Dungeons (currently in progress / on hiatus). Afterwards, I may decide to redo Book 1, or write Book 2, or actually start sharing the story most dear to me, that I've been working on for several years now. Draft 1: Please be aware that this is first draft material. I do intend to come back to do a second draft after the story is complete. If anyone notices any issues whatsoever with the story, please let me know (pm, etc) so that I can improve the second draft. Writer's Pledge: I've taken the Writer's Pledge, meaning I'm commiting to completing this story. I'm a proud member of WriTE, a group dedicated to finishing stories. It will be done! Behind the Scenes notes: This picture was commissioned from an inked artist by the name of DanP. Up until the time of the protagonist's arrival, history has proceeded as before. Some places and characters have been borrowed from wikipedia entries of interesting figures from the time. I will make note in the chapter comments when such things come up. Naturally, I've taken a great deal of liberty with them. In interest of respecting individuals, I've either attempted to portray them as accurately as possible, or modified them sufficiently enough that they're simply an inspiration, instead of a real portrayal. I've attempted to be as accurate to the era as possible, but I'm not a historian. If you're aware of inaccuracies, please, bring them to my attention so that I can correct them.

Seeker
The Gods are dead As they bled dry, so did the magic which gave them birth. In the new era of technology, its pathetic remnants must hide in the shadows or be locked away. In the ancient era of magic two beings often stood out: Galileo, an immortal scholar obsessed with knowledge and Angelica, the most loyal servant of the greatest among the now dead Gods. But why are they worthy of mention? Because after millennia of isolation, the two emerge in the new world beyond their reckoning. The entire story is told from the third person, however, each chapter will be told from the perspective of only one of the characters. This will be signified by the first letter of their names after the chapter number to avoid confusion. I submitted this fiction as a [participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge] as well as a participant in National Novel Writing Month. The original challenge had been to finish this entire faction within the month of November reaching the 55.5k word minimum. This goal had been achieved. I do not own the cover picture

Magus Gravity
This is about a person who is summoned to a world to be a hero and save the human race from the demons, clich stuff, he will then make decisions that affect all of those around him(I think this is original). Also, he will not get all the """"females"""" out there in the other world and make a big harem that symbolizes how woman are treated as objects. Remember that this story is something I would like to read, and frankly most of the royal road stories are too damn lusty and filled with porn. But there will be some romance here and there since people get married and I need to talk about that too, so that is classed as romance right?
