《Blue mage》Chapter 1: Blue Mage

I never knew how hard it was to write a letter of introduction for yourself. When does something become bragging? How do you say that you have a fun personality without sounding like a jackass? One thing I do know about this letter is that I suck at writing. I was sitting at my desk pondering how one can sound good on paper and be as good as they sounded in real life. I lean back in my chair staring at the ceiling while tapping my fingers on the desk.
Over the past eight years, I had been working towards my doctorate in veterinary medicine. From a young age, I had been fascinated by the feats that animals could achieve. I started to try and understand how they functioned over the course of my life leading me here. I’m finally going to be able to do what I want but something just doesn’t feel right.
Sighing in frustration, I stand up. Looking around at my tiny one-room apartment I can’t help but sigh. After eight years and a LOT of debt, I finally got my degree but getting a job was hard. I had been searching for a couple of months but due to my young age, 26, most places wouldn’t hire me. I was forced to work part-time at a fast-food place just to keep this rundown apartment.
I walked over to the fridge and grabbed a beer and laid down on my bed while pondering if I made the wrong choice. Right as I was coming to an answer something unexpected happened.
[System Starting]
[Transferring now]
“Huh” were the last words before I passed out.
Then I can feel myself laying on a warm comfy bed, unlike my own, and my beer is gone. Drats. Slowly I crack open one eye then the other letting the soft candlelight fill my eyes.

As I read over each option, I can’t help but wonder if this is a dream. Sadly, I was hoping it wasn’t. If something like this happened, then the past 8 years of my life would mean nothing if you could just heal anything with magic. I was hoping it was real because I need a way out of my life. Before I selected an option, I raised myself to a sitting position on the bed and got a good look around the room or cabin as it turned out.
The walls were made of rough logs of a tree I didn’t know. The same wood was used for the furniture as well with there being a dresser with a mirror on top and a bedside table and weirdly no door. Standing up I first checked the bedside table to find thick woolen socks that looked just right for my feet. I grabbed a pair before looking in the dresser to find it full of blue leather armor. Again, it looked like it was a perfect fit for me. Confused only for a second because if this was real, I doubted I could hide anything from something that just teleported me to this place. Figuring that I could use this armor I shimmied out of my old clothes and into my new armor. My guess was right and even though I didn’t know how to put on the armor it was extremely easy for me to do, and it fits perfectly.
Now snugly in my awesome new armor, I look back over the options. Mage seemed like a solid if a bit boring of a choice. There would most likely be a plethora of mages if the rest of humanity was also given this choice. Next up was doctor and I was feeling this one. It would mean that the last eight-year wouldn’t be a waste even in a magical world. But the last one was calling to me. Blue Mage, just thinking the name sent a shock down my spine. It was the most unique one on the list and it just felt right. Before I could talk myself out of it, I pressed down on Blue Mage with my index finger.

That was some info to process and before I could truly understand what was happening, another screen popped up.
[Tutorial created, skill gain up for the duration of the tutorial, starting now]
My environment changes from the cabin to a cave quicker than I can blink. I stand dumbly for a few seconds before hearing something wet splat into the ground not too far from where I am. My eyes narrow and my breath quickens. I feel a bubbling hunger flow up from my stomach and I turn around ready to indulge this instinct. As I do so a gelatinous ball slams into my chest knocking me to the floor. The breath rushes out of my lungs and my chest starts to burn. I try and force the slime off me, but my hands just push into the slime and start to burn too.
The feelings I had before are quickly growing even higher now that I feel like I’m going to die. I keep moving my hands through the slime trying to get it off me. Then my hand hits something, I grasp it and yank my hand out of the horrid creature. As soon as my hand leaves the slime it falls apart.
[Slime fluidity(Rare) 10%]
[Slime regeneration(Epic) 22%]
[Defeated lvl 1 Slime Exp Gained 50%]
I pant in exhaustion, my chest still stinging from the acidic slime. I glance at my heath, [Current Health 40/80]. I came halfway to death from what looks like a slime. This is crazy. Isn’t a slime supposed to be weak? Or am I really weak? I check my hand to find a sphere made of something in it. This was in that slime?
[Slime Core (Common), Can be used in alchemical recipes]
Then I hear it, that wet *plop*. No, not another one. I scramble to my feet and see that monster jumping towards me. The feeling bubbles up again forcing all feeling of doubt from my mind, and I make a dive for the core I tumble towards the slime and plunge my hands in searching. After a few seconds, I grab it and yank it out. The slime deflates.
[Slime fluidity(Rare) 23%]
[Slime regeneration(Epic) 45%]
[Defeated lvl 1 Slime Exp Gained 50%]
[Level up +1 to all stats and Full Replenish]
I feel something change inside of me. Something primal starts to rear its head but stops. I let out a breath and stand up and find it surprisingly easy to do so. Then that horrid *plopping* starts again. I let out a sigh, this was going to be a long tutorial.

Late Night at Lund's
Book 1 - Late Night at Lund's is available for sale on Amazon. Book 2: The Lockwood Quest continues the story! A dental hygienist walks into a bar..... Dental hygienist Isa Chamberlin thought the biggest challenge in her life was getting over a messy breakup, but when she pops into a new neighborhood bar, she finds herself in a different world, one filled with wizards, spells, and monsters. Join Isa as she explores unfamiliar surroundings, uncovers new skills, and learns to level. Magic and monsters, allies and enemies, romance and danger, all of it just on the other side of a simple door. "Wear these bracers with pride.” the half-orc slid first one bracer and then the other over Isa’s forearms. “Fight with your heart,” he said as he pulled the laces tight. “And come back with a story to tell. That is what an adventurer does.” ....... **** Thank you for reading, and if you like the story, please rate and review. Isa and I would both like to level up! This story uses the 5th Edition Open Gaming License for game mechanics. I roll dice for combat outcomes and all skill checks.... which is sometimes surprising! One side note - I don't have a "sexual content" tag on - this is more romance than romp. But that might change!

The Chronicles of Artharian Dagworth
Back in 2020 there were many theories on how the world would end. From the many religions apocalypses, nuclear wars that would leave the planet inhabitable, global warming doing the same, biological weapons getting out of control, viruses mutating into unstoppable diseases to the dead raising to prey on humanity, either due to a virus or just because hell filled up. Also, aliens, from the war mongering kind to the ones so advanced they didn’t see us as more than worms. And of course there was the fail proof theory that the world would end when the sun died. In a bunch of billion years give or take. Althougth some new scientist were discussing if the end would be on the take side, since when the sun started dying things would go haywire on the entire solar system and we would collide with mercury or maybe mars way before the expanding sun engulfed earth. But I digress… Now, those were the mainstream theories that the everyday Joe, who didn’t know the big secret, worried about. So, if you were to ask me which theory was correct I can tell you that I haven’t seen any little green man, at least not from another planet, and so far the sun is still shining, although it’s been only 9 years since everything went to hell, not the few billions (give or take) the scientist predicted, so that one isn’t ruled out yet. These two aside, I'd say all of them. Hey everyone, this is my first attempt at writing. I have been planning to do it for a really long time, and while this is not the one epic fantasy idea I ever wanted to write, I think it's a good one. The plan is to write an end of the world urban-fantasy series. Think a world like Dresden Files, Alex Verus, Iron druid, where magic is real but exist hidden from society meets the apocalypse. It will be written in first person in the Dresden Files style, no plans for other POV for now. As you probally alredy guessed from my style, english is not my first langague, so while google corrector helps, expect grammar errors, and I'd be gratefull for anyone to point them. I plan to write 2 to 3 chapters a week, 2000-4000 words each. Might change as I get more experience and depends on my free time. Cover image from the colections of getwallpapers.com

HUD: Wargame (Sci-Fi GameLit)
★★★★★UNFRIGGENBELIEVABLE!!!!!! "HUD: Wargame is a sci-fi GameLit worth reading." -TienSwitch ★★★★★Rock-solid FPS GameLit. "Nic - the main character - is an ambitious, hyper-competitive perfectionist, and the story fortunately handles him correctly in that it does not push these traits too far." -Akaso ★★★★★This is a good one! "This is one of those stories where you read the first few paragraphs and can just tell that the author has the chops to tell a story. It's engaging and the rules are well thought out and clearly explained. The action is punchy and exciting. Anyway, read it." -HonourRae In the future, everything is a game. Even war. 18-year-old Nic Sigfried wants the high score. Virtually piloting a real-life robot, he'll face off against his peers with the help of his AI guidance system, RTIFIS. The prize? New worlds across the galaxy that are ripe for human conquest and terraforming. It sounds glamorous on paper, but this job might be more dangerous than he thought... HUD: Wargame is the first of a five-part sci-fi series featuring GameLit elements. HUD: Wargame contains some (simulated) violence and very sparing PG-13 profanity. Updates Monday-Thursday-Saturday.
