《Blue mage》Chapter 17: Good vibrations

After Luke finished talking they both sat in silence until 20 minutes before it was time to fight. Luke raised his head all traces of the man who sold his soul were gone. His face was happy and cheerful with that smile plastered on his face. He looked Elizabeth in the eyes before talking, "So for this fight, you're better suited for the boss so I'll take on the minions. I can probably take them out in about 5 minutes so if you can't win stall. Other than that there isn't much to talk about. Just rupture their organs." Luke's smile never broke while he talked, his face never slipped and showed what he had done. Elizabeth had to give him credit, he was an amazing actor.
Elizabeth sighed, "Are you sure you can handle those minions? It's going to be harder to fight them than the captain." Elizabeth knew what being underestimated felt like but this felt off as if Luke was trying to prove something. Luke's smile just got wider. "Did you see the minion's armor? It was way worse than the captain. And with how many there are they can only get around 5 attacks at a time and with my movement spell that's nothing." Never a crack in his smile.
Elizabeth just nodded and got her tools ready for the fight. She had to make sure the flight path of the surround sound drones was perfect or she could easily lose one. She then checked her body armor, it was made of a superalloy designed by one of the High Emperor's men. It had taken two months to get one and it was worth it. Luckily she was able to keep it in the dungeon. Her sound gun was tuned up nice and ready to destroy some organs. Lastly her magnum opus, the earthquake boots. These babies could basically turn the ground into a liquid. The big downside before coming here was the power consumption. It guzzled power and only really expensive batteries could fuel it for more than two charges but now with mana she could get a charge every 30 minutes for free. It was probably the best upgrade she had made.

Luke nodded to her and stood up, "It's time." Elizabeth nodded and stood up too. The walk to the camp was an oppressive one with Luke's condition weighing in her mind. When they got there they found a group of sleeping elephant men with only one on watch. Luke nodded to her and started to charge a spell. "I would really not recommend looking at my next trick," Luke said while a drop of sweat condensed on his forehead.
Elizabeth had never cast a spell before but from what she had heard the larger the amount the more difficult it was. Luke tensed for a second before shouting, "Light of The Star," as light filled the clearing the elephant men started to panic. The light felt warm to Elizabeth but she could see how it burned the elephants. Taking her cue she ran towards the captain, pointed her gun at it, and pulled the trigger. A vaguely heard sound filled her ears making her head hurt. The sound ripped through the air in a visible fashion, at least to her eyes. When the blast encountered its first resistance, the captain, it just went right thought although severely weakened.
The large captain quickly stood up much faster than they had seen it move before and was on top of Elizabeth, she only smiled and activated her boots. A massive amount of energy was poured into a single vibration making the ground move like water. In this case, that ground rose in a 3-meter wave that slammed into the elephant captain. Of course, it had its downsides, one of them being launched about 30 meters into the air. Elizabeth flipped around in the air like a rag doll only barely able to see what had happened to the captain. When the wave hit it, it had been blasted back tumbling into the dense forest.

Elizabeth was soon able to stabilize herself and activated the surround sound drones to help her get down without becoming a pancake. the drones took place under her hands and her feet letting her control her fall. She glided towards where the captain should be. About halfway down she quickly veered towards the left as a tree trunk launched itself right where she had been.
Elizabeth started to move in patterns to not get hit by the very large tree trunks. She was forced to roll to the right when she touched down as a battle-ax slammed right where she was. Now that her drones weren't being used for flight they surrounded the captain and started to blast it with the soothing tunes of 5 Hz. Elizabeth wouldn't die if she got too close thanks to the upgrades to her body but prolonged exposure would do some damage to her. Quickly backpedaling while blasting it with her sound gun. The captain tried to fight back but with its organs popping one by one it couldn't do much. Soon, with blood leaking out of every hole on its body, it let out one last roar and collapsed to the ground.

As Elizabeth left Luke got to work. Luke had managed to get his Light magic(Uncommon) to evolve into Arcana Light Magic(Epic). With this upgrade, he was able to combine some of the power from a Major Arcana into his spells but he was only able to use The Star, The World, and Strength. Luke hadn't had a good time to test his new skill yet, so this came at a good time.
Luke charged his body with light fueled by the Strength Arcana greatly increasing his physical strength while letting out light. He then channeled The World into a hammer made of light casting a new spell. "Hammer of The World." The oversized hammer slammed into the ground bringing countless cracks in the earth, cracks filled with light. The monsters lost their footing and some got a limb stuck in the cracks but overall it was a waste of mana right now. It would be better to channel Strength into the hammer next time.
The one downside to his new skill was that he couldn't channel more than one of each Arcana at a time. So figuring out what Arcana to use for each long-lasting spell would be a new task for Luke to figure out. With all of his Arcana being used right now he had to switch back to regular light magic.
The cracks in the ground had an effect that Luke didn't expect though, after about 5 seconds the light poured out cracks incinerating all of the monsters trapped in them. Luke kept his smile on his face and quickly dispatched the rest with the boost from the Stregth Arcana. Not a drop of blood was able to land on Luke while he fought the monsters. If he was hit now it would have been a very bad sign of what was to come. For, after all, this was only the start of the war.

Who Fixes Books Anyway?
On the pretense of a raise, the relatively new employee Pernie is called in to talk with her superiors. NOTE: This is a short story written for a class I took recently. As a result of deadlines, it does not possess the quality (or length) that I would like and is rather thrunkated. Perhaps sometime far in the furture I'll fix it up. For now, I have much more important things to work on, such as my other fiction.
