《Curses》4. Mental Freedom

‘I’m not cursed anymore’ was my first thought. The second one was ‘I didn’t win by luck’. The third one was ‘well, maybe I did’. I still couldn’t believe that I had a stat with 99 in it. Just to understand how ludicrous this was, you get one free point per level and one, increasing by one each class evolution, set point per level.
No one in their right mind would put around 90 points into luck. It was the worst stat. Say you wanted a rare drop from a boss monster. There are three options to get it. First, you buy it, pretty simple but requires money. Second, you spent your points on making yourself stronger so you go fight the boss till you get what you want. Third, and last, you spent your points on luck so you’re weaker than you should be and you die to the boss.
There was a reason why my luck stat was low in my last life. It was a waste to put points into it. But for free point, there was nothing better.
I started to cry when i saw that {Curse of Immortality} was gone. I realised I was having new thoughts, new ideas. It was amazing, you can understand the joys of freethinking till you’ve lost it for over 100 years.
“You doing ok dude?” Tyler asks me. Concern coving his face.
“Better than ever,” I say just loud enough for him to hear me.
“So, what’s your skill. Mines {slash}.” Tyler said trying to change the topic.
“Oh, I got {Hex of slowness}. It’s pretty self-explanatory” I said back not really thinking about it.
“Now that we have our classes… would you like to fight some monsters?” Tyler says slowly, making sure I’m ok.
“Oh boy would I” I immediately say. Fighting monsters was my jam. It was one of the only things I’ve done for the past 100ish years. That and before I cast the {The curse of immortality} I got really into spellcraft. I’ve made at least 10 tier 4 curses. All of which cost around 1,000 mana to cast. So not much help right now.

Another thing was the fact that I am much weaker right now than I am used to. And the first floor would be a great way to get used to my current power.
After about 10 minutes of walking and talking, we found our first goblin. It was sitting in the middle of the passageway staring at us. We just stared at each other for about ten seconds before it seemed to wake up and charged us. Before it even stood up I was casting {Hex of slowness}. See I wasn’t just bragging about my spellcraft abilities before, one thing I am really good at is changing chants.
“Slow down you two-toed grub eater!” Is currently the cast for my hex.
My shout shocked Tyler out of his dazed state and he when you meet the slowed goblin. The fight did not last long. As it turns out goblins are really weak by themselves and get even weaker with a debuff on them.
The first words out of Tyler’s mouth after the fight was “Was that the chant for your spell?”
“Ya, pretty cool right, I insult them and they get a debuff.”
“You all way pretty good with words, who knew it would come in handy.”
“You have no idea”

When freshly-graduated Dr. Selva Imroth accepted a short job from her former doktormutter, she had expected to interview a few PhD washouts and write a report to the Dean. Unfortunately for Selva, everything in her life has to be an ordeal. Updates every weekday, but not on the weekend. I hadn't planned on doing NaNoWriMo, but then on Halloween night I was sharing an old plot bunny with a new friend and realized, "oh shit I can actually use this." So, here we are. Thanks, friend. In true NaNoWriMo fashion, I will not be using my typical editing process here, and will instead simply vomit words onto your screen as quickly as possible, trying valiantly to avoid asking myself "oh my god who CARES" because tangents are important to wordcount.
