《The Heavens Shall Fall》Chapter 44: Nutty

On the balchony, the sect master had a strange look in his face as he said "Bring the boy to me." Chao Mei and the two old men was startled as one of them said "Sect master, an elder should be enough to deal with his faults." "Yes he acted rashly, however he did not kill anyone, so he has no fault." Chao Mei suddenly interjected "Grandfather, he cheated and used more plants than what the exam allows." The sect master laughed and looked at her grand daughter. "You should learn something from that young man. He did not cheat, he only used his resources wisely." Chao Mei thought deeply for a moment then nodded. It was as if she suddenly understood how Ming Li did it. However, her face showed a bit of puzzlement. Her view of Ming Li somewhat changed and she decided to take a note of Ming Li's crafty actions in the exam. Below, her brother was also excitedly cheering for Ming Li during and even after the fight which made her feel a bit embarrassed. Chao Fuhua was really struck by Ming Li's amazing display of talent. It was rare for him to recognize anyone, however, at this point, he obviously admired Ming Li and decided by himself to keep calling Ming Li his Big Brother. ... Meanwhile on the hallway, the man reached his hands to grab Ming Li's arm, in the instant the man's hand touched Ming Li, pain rushed through his body as symbols flowed around him. His face flickered a bit and showed signs of being pained, however, his grip on Ming Li did not loosen the slightest. In fact it became tighter, which slowly sealed Ming Li's control of natural energy. The man seemed like he already expected Ming Li to use torment and was mentally prepared to face it. When Ming Li noticed this, he immediately said "Dippy grab him." A black robed man appeared behind the green robed man. And grabbed both of his arms from the back. Dippy wasn't able to restrain the enemy the slightest. However, when the green robed man saw him, his expression changed. His grip on Ming Li slightly loosened as his energy became a bit chaotic. Ming Li instantly noticed this and decided to risk it. He tapped his cube and pulled out the corpse of the demon. Along with the corpse, demonic energy followed along from his cube. His eyes shone with dark light as he executed a grabbing motion. Suddenly, a hand came out from the body of the corpse, seemingly splitting it apart. The hand grabbed the green robed man and tightly held him in place. The green robed man's face fell when he saw the puppet's hand. He never knew about this skill. He was only informed about Ming Li's torment and his use of crystal leaves. So he felt confident that Ming Li could do nothing to against him. When Ming Li felt the puppet's grip loosening, he immediately pulled his hands back making the puppet's hand to retract from the corpse of the demon. Ming Li felt that the demonic energy in the corpse wasn't enough to fully pull the man inside the book, so he pushed the demonic energy in his core out so he can use it for the skill. Using his own demonic energy could cause his level to be affected or worst damage his core, however, he decided to disregard all the side effect and go all out since his life is at risk. After Ming Li used his own demonic energy, the man screamed in terror as he was dragged faster into the rift in the corpse. He never imagined that he would actually lose to someone like Ming Li. If only Dippy didn't show up, his concentration would't be affected and Ming Li would have no opening to attack. When the man was completely sucked into the rift. Ming Li breathed a sigh of relief and waved his hands collecting the corpse of the demon into his cube. He was sure that if he wasn't able to pull the man into the book, he would surely die. When he tried to take one step forward, his nose suddenly felt warm as blood flowed from it. Blood also flowed out from his ears and mouth. His face turned pale as he lost his balance and fell on his knees. Using the demonic energy in his core, his body experienced severe backlash. Despite his weakened state, he still forced himself up and used the walls to support himself as he walked along the hallway to look for an exit while thinking of a plan. "Seems like I can't hide in the Main Crystal Leaf Sect. I guess there's only one way. If you can't beat them, join them!" ... The test continued as if nothing happened, but the remaining battles wasn't as fierce as Ming Li's fight. In the end only thirty people passed the test and Ming Li was also included in the list of the people who passed, however he was nowhere to be found. People also created several speculations and rumors on what happened to Ming Li. Some says he was punished for trying to kill a disciple of the sect. Others says that it's not possible that he was punished since he passed the test with highest mark, so he was probably taken in by an elder of the sect and went into secluded training. Even the sect master was clueless on Ming Li's whereabouts. He was actually planning to take Ming Li in as a sky disciple and have the apothecary pavilion head train him directly. ... Because of Ming Li's injuries, he had no choice but to stay inside the sect. Everyone only failed to find him because his aura became so weak that it was almost undetectable. He remained in a secluded area in the sect trying to stabilize his condition. Everyone in the sect resumed their daily activities when the exam was over. Ming Li became popular within the young disciples with the help of Chao Fuhua's idolization of him. Chao Fuhua even repeatedly admitted that Ming Li is greater than him in so many ways which exaggerated his abilities and made him seem like an inhuman existence. Chao Mei, did not bother his brother and could only sigh while ignoring him. When she contemplated deeply after the exam, she fully understood how Ming Li did everything. She had no choice but to admit that Ming Li was a genius, but she was confident he could not beat her at his level. Ming Li's friends, Duan Ho and Yu Lan was worried sick of Ming Li. They knew that Ming Li acted rashly and could probably be punished. However, when they saw Chao Fuhua's fondness on Ming Li, they were a bit relieved. There were several bad and good rumors spreading about what happened to Ming Li when he was taken away. But, with the way Chao Fuhua was acting, it was more likely that Ming Li wasn't punished by the guild, and hid on his own for some unknown reason. They also considered the fact that Ming Li might actually be taken in by an elder and really did proceed to a secluded training. Ten days passed and Ming Li suddenly opened his eyes. He stood up and waved his hands. With a wave of his hands, a figure wearing a green robe emerged from the rift. He walked towards Ming Li with an expressionless face. Ming Li then said "I will name you Nutty." He ordered Nutty a mental command to walk around the sect so that Ming Li can find out people from the black spider guild. Nutty did not instantly follow Ming Li's orders. There was a bit of resistance from him, but after a bit, he could not resist anymore and followed Ming Li's command. "Seems like the stronger the person is, the harder it is for me to control. It also seems like the puppet is also trying to resist my commands."

Azarinth Healer
A new world with nearly unlimited possibilities. A status, classes, magic and monsters. Sounds good? Well, for Ilea it didn't come quite as expected as for some other protagonists, nor was there a king or god to welcome her. The grand quest? Well, she might figure that out someday but for now, a new world with new food is prize enough. Her fists at the ready, she's prepared to punch and get punched, however long it takes and however many limbs she might have to regrow. A story I've started writing now quite a while ago. Transported to another world, somewhat standard fantasy setting with my beginner attempts to make it dark but funny. There are Litrpg elements here but I do hope it's not too heavy and annoying. The fights should be interesting and aren't just numbers vs numbers. Contrary to the title the protagonist will be quite an offensive fighter. Ilea Spears is your average sarcastic kick-boxing fast food worker and soon to be student. She will be transported to another world rather conventionally and will be confronted with survival in the wild. Give it a shot and let me know what you think. My experience is incredibly lacking. If you find yourself hating it early on, do convey your anger in a detailed comment or review :) I want to get better but without any feedback it's simply quite difficult. Quick heads up: Around chapter 120 there are a bunch of longer PoV changes that I discontinued again shortly after. The Arc around chapters 150-200 is darker than the rest and the themes shift quite a bit. Just know that it goes back to what you've come to know after that section. Thank you for reading. Quick update June 2019: Many complaints regarding the formatting, specifically spacing in conversations and of course the usage of the present tense in the first 36 chapters have been addressed. I'm of course learning by the day but compared to how it was before it should be an improvement at least. Chapters usually around 3k words Cover art by Kevin Catalan
