《On The Run From A Dragon》Day two: Part one

Tom got up in the frigid morning and started work on breakfast. From the freezer, he got out some deer meat and grab a beer out of the fridge. It would have been pleasant to have some eggs, but it was just best not to keep any that could go bad. Cooking the deer on an ancient wood burning stove, he added some seasoning. About half way through eating breakfast, the phone rang. Staring over at it with some foreboding, Tom picked it up and looked anxiously at the caller ID.
[Unknown caller]
Thinking to himself.
'That's not good. Maybe it's someone from work?'
It was his day off and they could need him if there was a call-out.
In the paranoid part of his mind.
'You know it's going to be her! Don't answer it! She is going to find you.'
Arguing with himself.
'If it is her, then I'll just have to go to the police.'
Hitting the answer button on the phone.
"Hello?"
There was a cheerful voice on the other side.
"Hey there! Where did you run off to?"
Tom could hear some giggling in the back ground of the call. It was most likely the kobolds.
"Shit! Leave me alone. I already have a girl friend."
This was a down right lie and they both knew it, he but had to try.
"Yes, I know you are alone and it makes me happy to know that you think of as a girl friend already."
There was more giggling in the back ground. This girl was stating to get under his skin.
"No, I'm not and you can't find me anyways."
She seemed unbothered by this.
"We will see about that my love. You will be mine."
He could barely make out someone talking to her.

"Ma'am, he is some were in the woods."
The now more paranoid part of Tom's mind
'Told you so.'
Moving with great speed, Tom removed the bratty and SIM card to his phone. Walking over to his bag, he placed the battery back in the phone and put it in air plane mode. Taking out the burner backup phone and putting the SIM card in the side pocket. The old one can still be useful even if it can't make calls or get on the internet. Not having the time to get the burner setup and running, he put it in his pocket. Next he pulled out the second smoke grenade, some fishing line and duct tape. He jerry rigged it to go off if someone opened the door. After leaving his little gift at the door, Tom looked around for anything else that needs to be done. Closing off the air to the firebox for the stove and turn off the lights. Going out the back door and walking North for about one klick. After that, he slowly turned South-west to get back into town.
Upon existing the woods and entering the first block, Tom made his way to the police station. When he got there, he could see standing just out side the doors there was a kobold. She was talking to a ogre police officer. He saw some money bring passed to the officer.
Tom's paranoia
'She's got them all in her pocket.'
He may need to rethink this plan about going to the corrupt police. Walking passed the two and trying not to draw attention to himself, they didn't seem to notice him. He weaved his way though backroads across town to his bro's house. When Tom got there, the car was gone.

'They got him too!'
As he looked at the vacant spot, he remembered why.
'Damn… That's right, Jonathan did inform me was going to be working the weekends now. My paranoia is getting out of hand. I really need a beer.'
Walking round the modest house and pulled out his picklocks. Tom unlocked the back door and let himself in. Getting a beer form the fridge and ambled his way into the living room. After turning on the TV, he got out the burner phone to switch the service plan on. Tom sent a quick text off to Jonathan to let him know what was going on. After doing that, a sleepy cat girl walked in from the bedroom.
"Hey, I thought... Who are you?'
Tom was utterly confused just as she was.
"Who are you?'
That was not the answer she was looking for, she yelled.
"Jonathan's girl friend! Now who are you and how did you get in here?"
Tom could see her claws extending. This could go side ways if he didn't give her a good answer.
"I'm Tom, Jonathan's friend. Give him a call. I just texted him, so he knows him here."
Tom's paranoia
'They did get him! She's working for them!'
She pulled out her phone and called someone. Form the sound of it she was talking to Jonathan. She didn't look too happy at the end of it.
"Ok he said that he got your text and for you to cool your jets"
Tom raised the beer in the air a little and said.
"That's why I got a this."
She looked displeased with him as she sat down across form him and grumbled.
"I can see that. Now tell me why you are here and not at your place?"
He sighed before saying.
"Its a long story."
With a smug grin on her face.
"Problems with your dragon girlfriend"
Her saying that did nothing good for Tom's paranoia.
"H-how did you know about that?"
Seeing how unsteady this made him, she waved a hand at him.
"Calm down, You have her smell all over you."
Tom thought to himself and felt the dragon scale in his pocket.
'Shit, I still have it on me!'
Watching the TV and not relly looking at her, he replied to her early question.
"Yeah, you could say she is mad at me."
The cat girl had her phone out by this point and was going through it.
"So what did you do or didn't do?"
After taking a gulp of beer.
"She is trying to rape me and I have been on the run for all most a day now."
She didn't seem to care and just let out an 'oh' as Tom rambled on.
"Also she got most of her kobold army hunting for me to."
She sat up a bit more after hearing this.
"Oh, it's that dragon. You should just give up. It will be easier on you in the end."
Tom glared defiantly at her and replied.
"No, I want to be a wizard."
She got up and yelled.
"You're a virgin! So that's why she is paying so much for info about you."
Tom let out a small 'What' as he stared stupidly at her in overwhelming terror. She smiled back at him and showed off her phone.
"Yeah, I just texted her and she is on her way."
Tom's paranoia
'This is why we can't have friends.'

Neophyte: Common Route
A story about self-discovery, interpersonal relationships, magic and magical creatures-- and a silent war. Marsha is about seven years past adulthood and still feels like a scared child in her parents' home. This is exacerbated when she discovers her father has apparently keyed up his destructive, sadistic habits-- leading to a mad dash out of the house with precious cargo in tow and only one idea where to go. This begins her journey, leading to a discovery that will change her life forever. And she never wants to go back. (Warnings: Lots of descriptions of abusive, sadistic and otherwise traumatizing and triggering behavior that a parent perpetuated toward a child or multiple children. Descriptions of violence, a main character with emotional issues that will be dealt with, and a whole lot of the 'aftermath' of battles in a war. Even a few descriptions of some of those battles. Things of that nature. If you can't handle one of those, please do not read.) {I had this idea to write a 'common route' and then 'romance routes' like they do in otomes? Book 1 is the common route, and then at book 2, you choose your love interest. Each of which is encased in their own book.}
