《On The Run From A Dragon》Day Eight: Part Two

Tom got to work on the stone after eating. He wanted to have more control over it. Right now it was making the rooms gravity lighter. It would be nice if he could turn it off and on or change the strength of gravity. Not knowing the magic symbols for mental mana was not going to stop him. Connecting the gravity symbols with lines of mental mana could let him control it or give it a mind of its own. If need be, starting over was not that big of a deal. June and Chief picked up their argument again as Tom worked.
"You're not going to get him, so you shouldn't even try."
Chief just rolled her eyes at this.
"Sounds like you are afraid that I will."
She wasn't hassled by this.
"What ever you say little girl."
The irritated gnome looked up at her.
"I am not a girl. I'm a full-grown woman."
June ran a head along herself to show off the curves of her body. Then looked over Chief.
"Yeah you're cute, but I'm sexy."
She gave June a fearsome stare.
"Look here bird brain, I have a lot more smarts then you. If you did, You would give up already."
June smirked at her.
"Ok, I'm going to go get some popcorn to watch you crash and burn."
She started to walk to the kitchen when Chief called out to her back.
"We'll see who is right when we throw you out."
June just chuckled as she walked away. Chief was cursing as she walked over to Tom.
"Hey Tom, is there anything I can help with?"
He was broken out of his trance and looked round for a second.
"Hum... Now that I think about it, can I get a look at the new ship design?"

Peering at the mess hall through the heavy equipment in the room and then back at him.
"They're still working on it. I'll try to get you something to look at soon."
A question pop up in his mind.
"Why aren't you in there help them?"
Getting nervous and looking everywhere else, but him.
"I was told to... keep an eye on you."
Tom sighed.
"Is it because I kept breaking the rules?"
Not making eye contact with him.
"Yeah, I'm supposed to try to keep you out of trouble and help with anything you may need."
He muffled something under his breath as looked over at the mess hall. Spotting June eating popcorn by the wall as she waved at him and he gave a nod back.
"Ok Chief. If I need you, then I'll call for you. I'm going get back to working on this."
Thinking she was getting somewhere with him.
"Any time deer."
When she turned back to gloat at June, but saw she was talking to someone who was not there. As Chief walked up to her, June had popcorn in a head and it was slowly going towards the gound at an angle. It hit something invisible and then she threw the popcorn up in the air. She frowned at June.
"I did not 'crash and burn' like you said. If he needs any help, then he'll call me over."
June guffawed.
"Hey Kendra."
She sighed and looked up at June.
"What?"
Smiling down at Kendra.
"Does he even knows your name?"

I Have Even Read the Rulebook!
As all stories begin, Prof died. Yes, truck-kun had something to do with that, but also a bird, a cat and some rebar. When he was presented with with the opportunity in the Afterlife Administration Bureau to be transmigrated into a game-like fantasy world, he did something, no one ever did: he read the Rulebook. Follow Prof on his road to be rich without working, touring a whole new world without a care and witness his realisation, that despite having read the Rulebook the folks living with the System for untold millennia know more about the rules. Important notes: 1, I'm not a native speaker, so be prepared for occassional typos, iffy grammar and maybe awkward sentences. The spell check was running, when I wrote the chapters, but it works in strange ways... If you point out mistakes, I will try to correct them 2, Scheduling will be two chapters a week, posted Saturdays before noon (CET). Depending on how much new chapters I can write consistently there will be probably more but as long as I have leftover chapters, the two per week will be posted no matter what. Chapters will be around 1500-2500 words as MS Word counts it. 3, I did not and will not post this novel on another site, if you find it somewhere else, please inform me 4, The Main Character's progression is slow, there will be no Levels, Skills, Abilities, Feats, Perks and Cheat Powers raining down on him 5, I've put Comedy as a genre because of my writing style not because the novel is a comedy per se. On the other hand, Traumatising Content is there because there is a lot of speciesism - those Elves are not nice people. 6, I put a lot of pop-cultural references into the chapters, try to find them! Enjoy!
