《Long Shadow》Ch.22 Ginger Claus

[SEVERED THREAD] XP + 50
It was the fifty-seventh time that Goodie had received the notification since the message about his assistance in the death of someone named Goewel.
He had assumed that Goewel was the name of the Thug that had worked for Mr. Mayor. An oddity as even when he had caused those idiots back in the sewer to fall victim to the zombie, he had received no notice nor had he gained XP. Admittedly, his [MENU] had been flooded with rat death notifications, which he mostly skimmed through as he closed each one, but he was he would have at least noticed something as long as…
YOU HAVE ASSISTED IN SLAYING (GOEWEL OF THE CARRIERS WHO WERE BORN IN THE VILLAGE ON THE HILL THAT PRODUCES CORN) XP + 275
…if it passed by.
The thug’s death was something he had missed thanks to being distracted by the waggon master. Who had done it, he had no clue, but his current assumption placed the blame on the head of that ginger woman that argued with Mr. Thug during the thieves’ government. Not that he had any intention of bringing her to justice or anything, he just hated not knowing things, the reminder of his low intelligence feeding his insecurities.
The numerous [SEVERED THREAD] notifications alongside the one for the man’s death, had given him enough XP to reach and sacrifice level 1 three times. The rewards he was offered for sacrificing that XP was less than spectacular.

He had picked the decreased rate of hair growth and the one-time use, fire and lightning bolt spells. The spells for obvious reasons, though they were far too weak to be considered an ace, they would still be a nice card up his sleeve if he ever needed them. As for the decreased hair growth, dealing with hair in the city was already annoying, having to waste time and effort sorting it out in the wild would be a pain in the arse. Plus, he did not know how much of his body’s resources it took to grow hair, but if he could reduce his need for food by even a fraction of a percentage, it would have been worth taking.

He had no idea what severed thread meant, but when he later heard that the village head and several other notable people within the village had died under suspicious circumstances, he got a clue. He did not know for sure, be he was pretty certain that someone one was cleaning house.
He had freaked when he discovered it, especially when he considered that he might also be on the list of people to bump off, sending Her Majesty to find the woman that he believed to responsible for everything had resulted in nothing as with Mr. Mayor being dead and the rest of the thieves laying low, Her Majesty had no one to follow. Since then he had locked himself within his truck-waggon, rarely ever going out, even for food, for fear of some sort of attack.
It was understandable then that he nearly shat himself when said ginger had snuck up to his truck during the middle of the night and lain a box down in front of the door, that he had used most often to exit the vehicle. He had thought to have Her Majesty bite the bitch, but was too concerned with the possibility that the box may have contained a bomb of some sort and had been too busy fleeing out the other side to even have the redheaded woman followed.
It was only after an hour that he ventured back and only in the morning did he even have the nerve to consider going near the package that had been left behind.
When he finally did, he took the utmost precaution to open it, his paranoia reaching new found heights. Though the most he could do with his current skill set was to use his abilities to glue it to the floor of the lower compartment, with it facing towards the back of the truck-waggon, doors opened wide. Then, dousing it in a glob of shadow stuff, he walked behind it, positioning himself diagonally to its side as he worked the tip of the spear beneath the lid to force it open.
He had covered himself in as many layers of his shadow stuff as was possible, to mitigate as much damage from any potential explosion as he could, though, if the box had exploded, even a tiny one, the combination the shock wave and enclosed space, even with the doors being opened, would have liquefied his organs. Not that he knew any of that, of course, he was sixteen and about as clued up on explosives as anyone could expect from someone his age.

He almost felt disappointed that nothing happened when the lid had finally lifted open, revealing the shadow-goo covered contents inside.
Within it was Mr. Mayors truth stone, two necklaces, a ring, a piece of bone, another small lantern containing the essence of a wisp, and a small knife like the ones people had once used to open letters.
He already knew that the truth stone was a magic item, but only with Her majesty’s high level of perception could he tell that most of the other items were also magically active. The exceptions being the little lantern and the piece of bone.
The lantern, or at least its contents, was spiritual in nature, not magical, hence the lack of aura, he assumed that the same was true for the piece of bone.
Either that or Mr. Mayor, who he assumed these items had been taken from, was a freak.
Like the box, he had no one that he could reliably call on to help identify the items, or search them for signs of danger, so he had to rely on Her Majesty’s best guess.
Her Majesty could neither smell nor taste anything on the items that could be considered poisonous. Still, he had his hands fully covered as he packed them away, separating each item for no reason other than it being better to be safe than sorry.
He could have thrown them out, indeed he should have, but that truth stone alone was the first magical item that he had come into close contact with since arriving in this world; and now that he possessed not only it, but several other magical items, his greed was, for the first time in his life, powerful enough to overwhelm his sense of reason.

Re: Level 100 Farmer
When Li’s level 100 game character is transported to a fantasy world, he realizes he is unstoppable. But…all he wants to do is be a farmer? Watch as Li tries to maintain his peaceful daily life in a chaotic world full of magic and knights.===Foreword===Slow Pace: This novel does have a slow pace with things building up piece by piece over time. However, this also means that the further you read, the more connections will begin linking up and the more the story will start building up.OP MC: The MC in this novel is extremely powerful from the very beginning. If this appeals to you, then check this novel out.Crafting/Farming Warning: This is a warning to say that if you are looking for a novel that focuses entirely on a crafting system or farming, then I have to say that this novel does eventually move on from the whole farming premise, getting much larger in scope overall.===Doever Writing Quality Guarantee===I can give a solid guarantee that the writing quality of this novel is of the highest tier on this website. Even though I would like to go through many of the initial chapters for a proofread, I still believe the writing quality is top notch for this website. There will be very few mistakes, and the few that do slip by me will not affect readability at all. Now, you may not agree with how the novel develops, but I can at the least guarantee that you will have no trouble actually reading what happensOf course, I am not perfect, so please feel free to point out mistakes and problems and I will be more than happy to fix them! But most importantly, whether you have criticisms or enjoy the book, thanks for reading!

The Worldforge: Warlock Rising
Abandoned as an orphan, Mar was tested for magic by the Mages of Orelm and was found to possess immense magical potential, but when he grew old enough to start his training he found he was unable to cast so much as a single spell! Embarrassed by their mistake, the mages threw him in the library where he read books and tutored the mage students for a bit of money. All the while, he can’t help but envy the the students who are living the life he had so eagerly awaited. But when an object of great and malevolent power promises to make good on all the promises the mages broke to him Mar is thrust into the world of magic. Mar will find that fate had something more than a life confined to the library planned for him after all. Authors Notes: I consider this to be a comming-of-age Sword and Sorcery story based mostly on the style of classic western fantasies. So if that's your thing then I encourage you to take a peek. Something I want to mention though is that the main character starts of pretty wimpy, and that might not be your thing. That being said, if you stick with him he's got a long way to grow. Also, while this version of the story is meant to be fully readable, more dicerning readers may want to wait until I move out of rough draft phase. There may be some inconsistancies with character and plot while I am still in the rough draft phase. I'm sorry for this, but this is my first web novel and from what I've read the best way to get a good novel out is to write write write, and then edit ruthlessly after you're finished with the book, so that's the plan I'm going to follow. Again, this is a rough draft. Everything you are reading is subject to change, including the name, title, and cover photo. This may no longer be the case once I've decided I know where this fiction is going and I have a reasonable understanding of the characters and their behavior. You're reading what comes off my keyboard as it's made, with very limited editing. There will be mistakes in the text. I do a quick spell check to take out the worst of the errors, but there will be some I miss. You can point them out in the comments if they are particularly confusing or glaring and I will try to fix them, however I am not overly concerned about minor errors as this is not the final draft by any means.

Broken Kaleidoscopes
What if someone told you that there were dimensions alongside ours? Innumerable and impossible to even fathom. That no normal man could ever hope to understand, or even find a way to peer across the everdistant parallels that pervade the multiverse? Now, what if that same person told you that there existed a race that lived outside all dimensions? A race so powerful that, instead of being forced to play along with the rules of your own dimension, they could rewrite all aspects of reality with only a thought. Of course, you would laugh at them. I did too. Then I broke reality the next day. Pictures are not mine. Scholar of the Fog
Leaving a trail of blood as he climbed up a hill, his limbs felt like lead. He was gasping too, his lungs burning with every step he took. It felt like a bundle of broken glass was scraping away the inner walls of his flesh. He was dying, obvious to both him and his pursuers. And it would not be long till he dropped dead as he bled away. If not, the people chasing him would surely finished what they had came for. It was as if the Gods themselves had already predestined his fate. He took one step forward and stood at the peak of the hill. He let his legs rest as he could barely go on. He swept his gaze, and across him was a spanning forest of old. With a glint in his eyes, and jaws clenched, he decided to gamble with all he had. He was dying, and by now, it did not matter where his grave was. He ran down the hill, and stopped where the plains and the forest met. His eyes swept about the trees, and he could feel an instinctual urge to drag himself away. He knew what this forest was, and here, he would find his salvation. Or his doom. The voices behind him grew closer, and among the noise was the faint clanging of steel. Gritting his teeth, he ousted all the will he had from the depths of his soul and stepped forth into the forest. Damned he be by the Gods if they wanted him dead. -new synopsis 10/6/2016 ---------- A new chapter would be released every friday. And the quality of writing should improve each time, hopefully. Another important thing to mention is how the story as of now, is only a bedrock for a massive world if it ever gets there. (CH18) And if possible, reviews are very much appreciated. ---------- For the ones who are interested in the old synopsis: With one foot in the grave, he ran away for that little bit of hope.
