《Lemillion In The MCU》Chapter 28 - Battle of New York XII

MIRIO TOGATA & NATASHA ROMANOFF (BLACK WIDOW AND LEMILLION)
The moment Steve gave the order, Mirio and Natasha jumped into action... literally…
Using their Usain Bolt level speed, Natasha and Mirio ran and leaped into the air, over the ledge that separated this street from the one lower below…
Natasha grabbed Mirio’s shoulder and squeezed twice as a signal… the next moment, they were both in a void of nothingness, permeating through the top of a car…
Mirio released his quirk just microseconds before they could permeate through the car entirely, and Natasha found herself sitting cozily inside the driver’s seat…
This was exactly what she expected, and without missing a beat, Natasha fastened the seatbelt around her waist, pushed the start button, and pressed the gas…
---ZZZOOOOOOOOOOMMM---
Mirio was startled by her quick adjustment…
After all, she acted more familiar with his quirk than he was, and that’s considering they only met a couple of hours ago…
“You have good timing…” Natasha complimented, aware of how much calculation went into having an ability like Mirio’s…
Mirio frowned “You’re familiar with my ability?”
“We have an asset in SHIELD with a similar ability…” Natasha explained, drifting left and right to dodge Chitauri Soldiers blocking their path…
Thankfully, the road was clear of almost all rubble due to a quick toss of Thor’s hammer…
“I hope I can meet someone with a similar quirk to mine….” Mirio mused…
Natasha spun the car around, withdrew her pistol, and killed a couple Chitauri trailing behind the car, then spun the car back around and continued like nothing happened…
“Quirk?” Natasha had an uninterested look but she was focused on Mirio’s every word “Strange term… is that what you call your ability?”
“Permeation is my ability… Quirk is what we call all abilities…”
Natasha shrugged, swerving right this time “Who is ‘we’?” She questioned…
“I am not sure how to describe it…” Mirio pondered for a couple of seconds “This is not my Earth… maybe not even my Universe…”
Before Natasha could dig for more information, Chitauri beams started raining down from above…
If not for Natasha’s pristine evasion maneuvers in the car, Mirio was sure they would have been taken out a long time ago…
“What’s the limit of your quirk?”
“I can only permeate one thing at a time…” Mirio replied quickly, feeling the urgency in Natasha’s voice…
“Well, you better push it some more…” Natasha urged and Mirio glanced ahead, noticing a large pillar blocking their advance “Get Ready!”
With Chitauri Soldiers and Elites chasing closely behind, there was no way to choose another route…
Mirio pressed his left foot atop Natasha’s, forcing the car to give more than a hundred percent, increasing their speed…
The car sped towards the pillar and just before the collision, Mirio activated his quirk… ironically, bringing the car along for the ride in his world of nothingness…

Still, there was no way he could permeate two things at once, and it seemed that Natasha could tell that it wouldn’t work…
The moment Natasha felt the car disappear, she launched herself off the ground with all the strength she could muster, clearing the pillar with inhuman coordination…
Natasha tucked, pushed on the pillar for support, and then extended her body into a half-twist…
By the time she was near the ground on the other side of the pillar, Natasha had switched into a seated position while still in the air…
Simultaneously, Mirio deactivated his quirk and Natasha was back inside the driver’s seat, snapping the seatbelt shut with her foot back on the gas…
“We have almost perfect coordination…” Natasha smiled…
“Almost?” Mirio questioned…
Natasha gestured to her wrist where the stinger on her left hand was stuck in the steering wheel…
“Just wait for it…” Mirio stated and like magic, Natasha’s stinger shook loose a couple of seconds later…
“Huh… Conservation of Mass?”
Mirio shrugged “I don’t know how my quirk works anymore… it’s getting stronger…”
“Good…” Natasha remained focused on the road ahead “We need all the strength we can get…”
The car continued to the Stark Tower unhindered…
-------------------
Tony flew through the skies and passed by Steve…
Steve held his shield up and Tony aimed his repulsor beam…
The beam deflected off Steve’s shield and cleared every enemy nearby…
With a flash of his repulsors, Tony sped back into the skies and Steve battled for dominance on the ground…
----------------------
Clint picked Chitauri down left and right, carefully choosing his targets to compensate for his lessening arrows…
With his sharpened eyesight, Clint barely managed to see the flicker of distortion in the distance and fired his arrow hundreds of meters without hesitation…
----------------------
Hulk leaped from building to building, destroying everything Chitauri in his sights…
At some point, the anger stopped growing and a smile of savagery dawned on his face…
---------------------
SHIELD HELICARRIER
Everything in the Helicarrier was in chaos…
The only man who stood calm amidst the chaos was Nicholas J. Fury…
Even as everyone was scrambling to get essential systems back online, Fury stood in place, guiding the Military advances throughout New York City…
The last thing the Avengers needed was to worry about the Soldiers as well as the Civilians running around like chickens without heads…
Maria Hill came to a stop behind Fury “Sir, The Council is requesting you…”
“Look at it…” Fury offered, stepping aside to show Maria the News reports coming out of New York City…
Maria nodded heavily… then she and Fury departed for the meeting room…
-----------------------
METRO-GENERAL HOSPITAL
Like everywhere else, the Hospital was in chaos…
Maybe even more chaos considering the injured was being admitted by the dozens…

Thankfully, the injuries were not that severe since those that got hit by Chitauri beams didn’t need medical attention…
After all, how could you attend to someone that had been reduced to ashes?
The Television on the wall broadcasted the battle currently happening for all to see…
Several people sat in the lobby and watched with baited breaths, hoping to catch a glimpse of loved ones, or praying for the Avenger’s victory…
Amongst these people was a very distraught Christine…
Her skin pale, and her eyes swollen from crying… she sat in the lobby watching the intense battle against the Alien Invaders…
And very briefly… sometimes, she would catch a glimpse of Mirio battling against such monstrosities…
“He wasn’t lying…” Christine muttered, witnessing Mirio permeate through obstacles to get Civilians to safety…
Honestly, she regretted the way she handled things between herself and Mirio…
Of course, the fact that he was too young to be committed was a valid reason, but seeing the way he battled Chitauri even as his body was riddled with injuries…
Christine came to realize Mirio was the type of person who would have never given up on her, no matter what…
Obviously, the person she thought was a kid, was more a man than anyone…
“Be safe…” She whispered…
The truth of the matter was, Christine loved Mirio very much, but even now that she knew he wasn’t delusional, she just loved Strange even more…
Matters of the heart were never simple…
However, Christine’s eyes went wide the next moment as an explosion happened near Mirio and the screen blanked…
---------------------
PEPPER POTS (PRIVATE JET)
On one of Tony’s many private jets, Pepper watched as Tony zipped across the skies of New York, destroying Chitauri left and right…
Each quick turn of the Iron Man suit hurt Pepper’s heart because, more than anyone else, she knew it was physically taxing on Tony to perform certain maneuvers in the suit…
Many people thought the Iron Man suit was the hero, but she knew the hero was the person inside the suit…
Even with his brilliance, she knew it took Tony’s precise skills to pilot the suit…
Pepper grabbed her phone and tried to dial Tony’s number but it didn’t get through… out of frustration, she tossed her phone aside…
-------------------------
JESSICA JONES (NEW YORK CITY SHELTER)
Jessica awakened inside a dimly lit shelter filled with people…
Some were crying…
Some were injured…
Some were staggering about in shock…
It was a very sorry sight to witness, especially for someone who had no idea what was happening…
As soon as the chaos started, Jessica had lost consciousness…
Thankfully, someone had a phone next to her, and Jessica watched the ongoing battle for New York City…
The occasional explosions that shook the shelter were testament to how violent the outside was…
Suddenly, Jessica realized that Mirio was nowhere to be found…
She glanced at the screen and noticed his favorite ‘1000000’ shirt flashing by…
Without thought of the consequences or the meaning of Mirio’s actions, Jessica pushed through the crowd and darted out the entrance…
----------------------
Mirio and Natasha were relaxed, about a mile away from Stark Tower and rapidly closing in…
They had to drive on confusing routes to avoid Chitauri scouts…
At some point, it became more about avoiding trouble than getting to Stark Tower, and of course, that was the Captain’s orders…
“Safer is better…” Natasha muttered for the third time in a row…
“Safer is-”
Mirio was about to repeat the statement as well, but…
Thousands of snakes slithered down the street, heading towards the car…
One moment there was nothing, and the next moment, thousands of snakes had appeared…
Mirio wanted to swerve, but Natasha stayed the course…
“It’s an illusion… get ready!” She yelled, driving directly into the den of snakes…
However, instead of the den of thousands of snakes, what appeared when the illusion broke was Loki standing in the middle of the road with his scepter in hand…
Natasha swerved as Loki swung his scepter forward…
---BOOOOOOOOM---
The next thing Mirio and Natasha felt was weightlessness as the car was launched into the air…
Mirio grabbed Natasha and attempted to permeate them both, but whatever power was within his body retreated immediately, allowing the tingle in his spine to return…
Without the option of a quick exit, Natasha and Mirio loosened their muscles as the car impacted the ground…
The car rolled, tumbled, and spun out of control…
All the while, Mirio was trying to permeate, and finally… it clicked and both he and Natasha permeated through the car and rolled onto the street…
Mirio and Natasha hopped to their feet and watched as the car collided with a building down the road, exploding into flames…
“I was hoping you’d die a graceful death…” Loki walked until he stood ahead of Natasha and Mirio…
This time, The God of Mischief was very cautious…
Natasha activated her stingers and Mirio got into a fighting stance…
They noted that the side of Loki’s face appeared notably burned, but his Asgardian Physique was quickly healing the injury…
But… at least, they knew that God bled…
Loki dashed forward, but before he could get to Natasha or Mirio, an arrow cut through the wind, and impacted the side of his head…
---BOOM---
Loki’s scepter was knocked out of his hand by the surprise arrow courtesy Hawkeye, located hundreds of meters away, atop a building…
