《Spirit Cultivation》Chapter 12 - Sneaky Clan Leader

Only moments later did Liu Mei's parents came back to their senses and rushed towards their daughter. Their smiles alone couldn't describe how happy they were. They were only a pair of normal Spirit Masters with average talents. Her father was a Spirit Stone Mine Guard while the mother was a shopkeeper in one of the Liu Clan's shops.
On the day of their daughter's ceremony, they could take a day off to take part in it. Who would have thought that their child would create such a commotion? They both had Red Talent, and at most, they could at most reach a Spirit Grandmaster Stage in their lives. How did their daughter awaken a Purple talent that everyone dreamed of?!
When they arrived at the side of the stage, Liu Mei noticed them and dashed happily without thinking much.
"Mommy! Daddy! Did you see me?!" She cried with joy as she hugged their necks. They crouched down to match her height.
Her mother checked her daughter from head to toe to verify if she was her little girl. She wouldn't be surprised if someone swapped her little Mei Mei with another girl. She only replied after confirming everything was alright. "Yes, you were incredible. You made your parents proud."
Tears of joy dropped from Liu Mei's father's eyes as he hugged his family. It was indeed a blessing. Because of the phenomenon, they were also in the group of Cultivators that broke through. They were Spirit Grandmasters now.
At that moment, Liu Xiaobei appeared next to them.
Seeing him, Liu Mei's parents both stood up and bowed. "Clan Leader."
"No need to bow, relax," Liu Xiaobei said casually. "I just came to ask you something. Are you the parents of this kid?"
"Yes, we are honored to," the father answered as he wiped his tears.
"That's perfect. I got informed about your statuses a moment ago," Liu Xiaobei began as he turned towards Liu Mei's father. "You don't need to work as a guard in the Spirit Stone Mine anymore. You can work in the Clan territory and stay close to your family. Are you content with my decision?"

"Yes! Thank you, Clan Leader," the father thanked hurriedly, clasping his hands together.
Liu Xiaobei then turned towards Liu Mei's mother. "You should be one of our shopkeepers. How about I make you a manager of the store you are working in and will receive part of the shop's monthly revenue?"
"I will gladly accept the Clan leader's offer, thank you!" She acknowledged with a bow. Everyone knew you should never reject the Clan Leader’s reward. It was akin to slapping his face.
Liu Xiaobei nodded, glancing at the young lady who jumped happily in front of them. When she saw that her parents were happy, she also got excited.
"My wife is currently free without any disciple. How about I recommend your daughter to be taught by my wife?" Liu Xiaobei dropped a bomb that they did not expect.
"As long as Mei Mei wants it, we don't have any objections," Liu Mei's father replied after a quick glance at his wife.
"Perfect. Liu Mei, do you want to train together with your big brother in the future?" Liu Xiaobei asked sneakily.
"Can I? I want to!" Liu Mei answered without any thought.
"Then it's settled. We will talk about the details after the ceremony."
Xuefeng was not far from them, listening to their conversation, so Liu Xiaobei beckoned to him. "Xuefeng, follow me. Before the ceremony continues, I will introduce you to some guests."
Xuefeng looked at the guests sitting on the main table and followed, preparing his mind.
"You finally brought your son for us to see," the Lu Clan's Leader commented as he saw them coming.
"Hello Elders, I'm Liu Xuefeng, nice to meet you all." Xuefeng clasped his hands before everyone as a greeting. His gentle smile caused everyone to nod in approval.
"No need to be polite; we are all friends here," the Lu Clan's Leader laughed.
Every beauty sitting at the table got tense when Xuefeng came. They knew what their mission was when their fathers brought them here. They tried to make themselves look good, puffing their chests and winking at him.

Zhen Shan only gazed at Xuefeng from under her veil once before she turned her head away. Before he had his talent tested, he wasn't worthy for her to look at him.
Liu Xiaobei introduced everyone to Xuefeng one by one until only the Emperor was left. In this world's custom, you should generally introduce the most important guest at the end. It was done like that because most people will most certainly remember the last person mentioned.
"And this is our Aurora Country's current Emperor," Liu Xiaobei presented.
When Xuefeng was reading books about this world, he stumbled across a book about local customs. He decided to read it as it might have come in handy in the future, and he was right. He knew that the traditions were different from what he learned on Earth.
For example, when Clan Leaders were greeting the Emperor, they didn't need to bow to him or kneel. If only they are in the same stage as an Emperor, they could greet him normally. The strength dictated the rules.
"Your Majesty," Xuefeng said as he bowed slightly.
As Xuefeng was as weak as a mosquito, he had to bow his head and clasp his hands as a greeting. But he was from the Liu Clan, after all, so he only bowed slightly. He was smart enough to understand that his father was demonstrating his strength at this event. He couldn't disappoint him.
Emperor nodded indifferently in response.
"Feng'er, are you hungry? You can eat something before the ceremony continues." His mother Mu Lan offered. She was entertaining the clan leaders when Liu Xiaobei went to take care of the situation. He couldn’t even reject her offer as she already started putting the food on the plate.
"No, mother, I'm okay. Let's eat and talk when the ceremony ends," He denied her and turned towards his father. "Is everything ready? I'm already tired of waiting. I waited sixteen years for this moment." He said with a bitter smile.
Liu Xiaobei nodded in understanding. He looked at the closest Shadow Guard, and seeing him nod, he turned towards the guests.
"The ceremony will proceed."
Zhen Ping put on a mocking smile as he watched Xuefeng walk towards the stage. When the beauties were winking at Xuefeng, he already showed bitterness on his face.
On the way back, Liu Xiaobei whispered into his ear, "If you create another heavenly phenomenon, you can have any beauty from the main table." Saying that he gave him a bottle of Spirit Awakening Liquid and stood by the side.
'Please, I'm not even over Tianshi, and you want me to choose another girl already,' Xuefeng sighed.
Going up the stage, he sat down in a random place. Seeing that he already had a bottle of Spirit Awakening Liquid, the servants didn't come to give him a drop.
"Don't be nervous. Just follow the instructions from earlier, and you will be good. You can't change fate," Elder Ming said in a good mood.
He already calmed down from the breakthrough, but the smile didn't leave the Elder’s face.
'Can't change fate, huh… Let’s see how Fate changed with my arrival.’ Xuefeng thought.
Xuefeng opened the bottle and looked inside to check the content. To his surprise, it wasn't just a single drop. He knew his father bought more drops for him, but he didn't expect that he got a whole bottle.
'Time to prove everyone wrong.'

NEWDIE STEADSLAW Part I
NEWDIE STEADSLAW is a randomized array of Chekhov's red herrings, non sequitors ex machina, run-on sentences, and em dashes—so many em dashes. It's like if the Bible and Shakespeare had a baby that they surrendered to foster care, then it got adopted by Alice in Wonderland and Dr. Seuss—the books, not the people—and then the baby fell down the stairs. In this metaphor, the stairs wrote the story. Part I is the tale of the adventures of Traycup and Roby as they try to hold down a job inside the hollow Earth—a place made possible thanks to the secret science of embargoed relativity—and they get distracted by dancing foxes, a giant's record collection, and something with a train, I think. It's a work of fiction—although to call it work seems insulting to, y'know, actual work—but the fiction label is apt, so, y'know, that's a win. Half the words are made up, and the other half are embarrassed to be seen with them. Part I is complete.
