《The Chronicle of a Witch》Chapter 18 Going to Acropolis
Advertisement
Two days later. The village returned to its tranquil state. All the Players left and went to the Capital City of Acrodia, Acropolis. Yes, this country, no, this Empire was called the Acrodia Empire, one of the biggest Empires in the world of Acrodia. Honestly, I didn’t know history or geography a lot, I heard it from the village chief explanation when he explained to the Players. He explained that it was the biggest Empire in the entire world and that was why, even though it was called as Acrodia Empire, the same as the name of this world, no one would denounce it. I could only imagine if there was a nation called the Earth Kingdom on Earth, how the other nations would react to that...?
Anyway, all the Players were traveling to the Royal Capital, since there were more quests in that place rather than in small village like this. And so, today, the village returned to its tranquil state. The villagers were doing their job of tending farms earnestly, like what they used to do before the Players came. It was really a peaceful village, and honestly, I didn’t want to leave at all. Yep, that was what I thought two days ago.
Today, however, I helplessly lied down on my bed as I was forced to face my greatest crisis. This starvation tactic was too effective!
Alright, let’s start from the beginning so it would be easier to understand. So, two days ago, after the Players went to Acropolis, the silly Goddess suggested that we went to Acropolis too. She wanted to get stronger as soon as possible, and by going to Acropolis, she would get more chances of getting stronger. After all, a capital city like Acropolis meant more information on strong monsters there. Yep, just the information. But it was enough for people like the silly Goddess.
So, she forced me to follow her to Acropolis, but I refused. Going on a journey? I must be crazy if I agreed to that condition!
Oh, I forgot to mention that the power to teleport people to Acropolis that the village chief had was only limited to Players only. As for NPCs like us, we had to have a long journey. And that was what I really didn’t want to do. Yep, I was still sane, so I didn’t want to go on a long journey to Acropolis.
Fortunately, the silly Goddess didn’t force me with her ridiculous power. If she truly forced me, well, I wouldn’t be able to fight back at all. After defeating the Rhino-Bear, her level raised to 20 while mine was still… 13. My stats were as trash as it could be, like usual. Even my Intelligence stats were lower than ten. This game was sure rigged…
Anyway, I refused to leave and the silly Goddess smiled menacingly… and threatened me. Her brother used his Skill to seal my Skill for a full week. She kidnapped my Slimerin, who returned from the battle in blood. Yep, after an hour of staying inside the Rhino-Bear, I noticed that I could just return my consciousness to my own body, which I did. After that, Slimerin returned. And speaking of her (even though Slime was genderless, I would call it as her because of its name!), she gained her own consciousness or will after that battle. Well, rather than gaining consciousness or will, it seemed she became smarter, unlike the typical Slime. As expected of my Familiar.

I knew it would happen, though I never expected it to happen so soon. Anyway, I still could possess her body, but I could hear her talking to me inside my head whenever I entered her body, so usually, I was reluctant to use an intelligent Slime like her. As for Summoning more Familiar, I didn't want to harm my soul in the near future, so I should postpone it.
Right, let’s return to the main topic. So, the silly Goddess kidnapped Slimerin, the silent God sealed my Skills for a whole week, and then they stole all the food and money from the house. They said that they were waiting for me outside the village. Yep, it was really a starvation tactic.
It had been two days and all I had was water. I was starving, and honestly, I wanted to go to that silly Goddess as soon as possible. However, whenever I stepped outside, the unreasonable fear gripped my heart and I couldn’t even move at all. It was impossible for me to go out.
So, I lied in my bed since I couldn’t move too much now. No, it was not that I couldn’t, but I didn’t want to waste my energy. No, I should step outside today, no matter what happened. I didn’t want the Evil God Fanarie to die because of starvation after all… Alright, I just didn’t want to die, alright? Who cares how I died, I just didn’t want to die.
I walked to the door, opened it, closed my eyes, and walked forward. Yep, as long as I didn’t see the sky, I wouldn’t… no, when I mentioned the sky, I imagined that I was outside with no roof above me and my knees grew weak. It seemed closing my eyes was worse than opening it, so I opened them again, to see that the house was several meters away from my current position. It was bad! I couldn’t move at all in this situation!
“…so, you want to go to Acropolis too?” The silly Goddess suddenly spoke to me from distance away.
“…” I wanted to retort, but at my current condition, if she did something bad to me, I would die for sure. Yep, if she tossed me upward, I would definitely die. So, I had to obediently nodded.
“Great! Slimerin, you heard that, right? Your Master wants to go to Acropolis too! Isn’t that great?” I looked at the silly Goddess who walked closer. Slimerin was hugged by her. It seemed she controlled herself so she wouldn’t wet the silly Goddess clothes… seriously, you shouldn’t waste your power on small things like that. In fact, you should make that silly Goddess drenched… alright, let’s stop thinking as the silly Goddess was glaring at me.
“At least… release the seal… first… I’m going to use… my vehicle…” I said word by word as I was stuttering.
“No way, if you use your Smokeless Slime as your vehicle, you would draw too much attention. We are going on foot.” The silly Goddess said. When I heard it, I felt my whole world crumbled in an instant. Should I negotiate with her? Saying things like if we were walking, I would slow us down…
“Don’t worry, if you slow us down, I can always help you to go faster, you know? Of course, by throwing you.”

…negotiation failed before it even initiated…
“Are you sure you are not an Evil Goddess?” I asked the silly Goddess with a dejected voice. It seemed I couldn’t escape my fate at all!
The silly Goddess laughed like an evil villain. Ugh, my stomach hurt. It must be because I imagined the future journey. Or perhaps it was because I hadn’t eaten anything in the past two days…
“Master, don’t worry! If you fall into the sky, I will pull you down for sure!” Slimerin tried to console me as she jumped down from the silly Goddess arms to mine. Perhaps she forgot to control her own body, or perhaps she was too excited, but when I hugged her, hm, well, I was drenched…
…
A week later. We finally arrived at Acropolis. Actually, it should take almost two weeks, but the silly Goddess was getting bored and forced me to summon my Smokeless Slime to bring the three of us to Acropolis as soon as possible. Well, summoning Smokeless Slime was what I wanted to do from the beginning, so when the silent God unsealed me, I summoned the Smokeless Slime without hesitation and we increased our pace by a lot. Also, it was not tiring at all. Not that I was tired before this though since the silly Goddess was not cruel enough to force me to walk. I used the previous wheelchair and the silent God pushed it. Slimerin was on my lap while the silly Goddess killed any monsters that approached us.
As for bandits or saving a damsel in distress… why would that happen? We were not the main protagonist of this game, so nothing like that happened to us. Well, we beat, or technically speaking, the silly Goddess beat some monsters, but that was all. Even the silent God didn’t get his chance to show off in front of me.
Anyway, to enter the city, we had to have an ID. Fortunately, we could get a temporary ID by paying money. As for the permanent ID, we could get if we registered as Adventurers or other Guilds. Honestly speaking, it was really troublesome for me, as I only wanted to coop inside my house all the time, but without permanent ID, we couldn’t even rent a house and had to stay in an inn. Oh, and after seven days, the temporary ID would be revoked and we had to have permanent ID by then, or else we would be kicked out of the city and couldn’t return for a month.
Becoming an Adventurer… was out of the question for me. After all, what an Adventurer needed was the personal ability, not ability brought by Familiar. As for Summoners, usually the Summoners had stronger power than their summoned monsters, or else, they would be killed by their summoned monsters, so they didn’t have problems registering as Adventurers. Me, however, was weaker than my Slimerin, so I couldn’t register as Adventurer. Not to mention that I didn't want anyone to know about me and Slimerin. After all, Slimerin had appeared in the village and defeated the Raid Boss, the Rhino-Bear.
“So, what are you going to do?” The silly Goddess asked in worry. She and her brother already had Adventure Card, which could be used as a permanent ID, so they were safe. As for me…
“Don’t worry about me, you should go. I have something to do.” I said to both of them. They planned on going to hunt some weak monsters around the capital to feel the monsters’ strength first.
“Are you sure you will be alright?” She asked again.
“I’m sure. Just go. Don’t worry about me.” I convinced her once again.
They reluctantly left me alone. I was quite happy that finally, I had my me-time. And this city, Acropolis, was so amazing. Yep, unlike the small Newbie Village, this city had a barrier protecting it from monsters. And speaking of barriers, it covered from beneath the ground to the sky. And that meant… even if I fell into the sky, the barrier would stop me. I finally could walk around without being gripped by the anxiety of falling into the sky!
Now then, like I said, I had a place that I wanted to go. Unlike the brute silly Goddess, it seemed I had better talent in Magic. However, there was a problem. Which was, my Intelligence stats.
In this world, everyone could increase their stats easily, well, to a certain extent. For example, for Warriors, they could increase their stats by training daily. For Mages, they could learn Magic and increased Intelligence stats. For Tanks, they could hit their own body to increase their Vitality stats. And so on and so forth.
So, my plan was quite simple. I wanted to learn Magic. I wanted to get stronger by learning Magic. So, all I had to do was going to an institution where they taught you Magic. Simple, right?
Alright, to make it even more simple, I wanted to go to a school. In my previous world, I was transported to this world before I graduated from high school. In this world, after having phobia-inducing experience, I never stepped outside of my Dungeon. So, I wanted to go to a school and graduated from it properly. Yep, that was my plan for now.
Speaking of school, I heard that there was, were two good Magic schools in this city. It was called… the Saulia Academy and the Velonia Academy. Both of them were Magic Academy, however, their aim was different. Saulia Academy aimed to teach a versatile Mage that could adapt to any situation while Velonia Academy aimed to teach a focus Magic so it would be stronger. Speaking of which, I heard their rivalry was quite intense.
Well, it didn’t have anything to do with me though. I didn’t really care which academy I joined, as both had advantages and disadvantages. If I had to choose, perhaps I chose the Saulia Academy just because I could use all elements but none of them were strong. More importantly… the long-awaited school-arc is finally here!

The Dog with a Chair
As of now, this story is dropped. It was an excellent learning experience, but the quality suffered too much from me trying new things for me to continue in good concience. Thanks to anyone that read it. I'm leaving this story up as a record of my first ever attempt at publishing something I've wrote. To any new writers out there, remember that even if the stuff you write is trash, you can still learn a lot from writing it. - November 17th 2020 Guy gets involved in advocacy for civil engineering projects, then gets pulled into an interdimensional war. Third person with a focus on one main character (Stanley) with the occasional point of view from another character important to story progression. Writing style tends to shift early on as I figure out how to write (this is my first book). Still learning, hoping to improve. Current style choice is to have a focus on character dialogue/actions with interspersed internal monologue in italics. No current end is set for the story, with the primary goal of this project being to learn to express myself in a written format. Storyline is kept as consistent as practical while covering things I find interesting. Governmental systems are mentioned, but not explained in extreme detail. Sci fi elements are used to reinforce and guide plot progression as I'm able. Personal goals belonging to each character are in the process of being developed, with the hope that they will support or oppose each other in interesting ways later on. Hope you enjoy :)

Remorse
I have killed many people over my long life. Men, women, children. None have escaped the shadows that I control. It was only one tiny mistake that I made that changed my life forever. I underestimated her, and I would pay for my hubris. “For every death you have given, you will feel their pain.” What? “For every person you have killed, you will feel regret.” Wait, wait… “For every murder you have commited, you will know what you have done.” I don’t think this is going to be pretty. The power leaves her voice as she continues in a softer tone. “I will give you back what you have lost, you will feel empathy again.” Her power releases me and I fall to the ground. Diana. That was her name. I will remember it. ******** This story starts out somewhat dark, but it will lighten up after the first chapter. I tend to not enjoy the psychological tag too much since stories with the tag tend to be a little insane for my liking, but I feel that I would be remiss not putting it on this story, since a lot of it is about the psychology of the main character. All the content warnings are checked since I want to leave my options open to me for the future. I hope you enjoy.
