《The Archives of Urith》Breakout 3

Eros entered the Security Sector with Ana by his side. The place was packed with guards. The ones in riot gear making their way towards the maglev station. Eros and Ana continued onto their squad’s assigned locker room. Eros opened the door, his ears picking up the sound of chit chat filling the air as lockers were slammed shut. He scanned the room, locking eyes with Tyrone before heading over to his position.
Eros stood at attention and Ana followed his example “Sergeant, what are our orders,” Eros asked Tyrone.
Black armor covered Tyrone’s body, the tinted visor of his helmet obscuring his face. He was currently carrying his signature Kinetic Rifled. “The prisoners have escaped their cells and central command has tasked us with putting them back into containment. I’ll fill you in on our specific orders once you and everyone else are geared up and ready.,” Tyrone then pointed to the lockers, “You are dismissed.”
Eros heads over to his locker and Ana to hers. His fingers automatically entered the passcode into the numpad lock on his locker. He had long ago committed the passcode to muscle memory, he did not even have to think about it now.
He pulled the locker open, inside was a set of riot gear consisting of a skin tight suit, a helmet, and armor for his torso, arms, and legs. Next to that was a standard issue rifle. It was nothing fancy like Tyrone’s kinetic rifle,it just shot normal metal bullets.
He quickly undressed until he was just in his underwear. Putting on the skin tight suit first, then followed by the armor, and finally his helmet. He took his rifle out before closing his locker shut.
Turning around, he spotted Lisa, Ana, and Ray still getting dressed. Those that were done had formed a line in front of the sergeant, he went over and joined them. Ana was done next and she took her place just behind him. Soon followed by the rest of the squad.

“We will be taking the maglev trains to the Prison Sector. Immediately after arriving, central command had tasked us with reaching vault 13 and reinforcing squad Spitfire. We are to help them defend the vault from any prisoner,” Tyrone said, his eyes glancing over each of his soldiers. “Once there, we are to set up two defensive positions in the two corridors leading to the vault. Command does not want the prisoners equipping themselves with weapons, it's bad enough that some of them have been mutated. Now, let's move out!”
Eros and the rest of squad Silverback marched in two straight lines, following Tyrone out of the locker room. They were joined by the other squads leaving their locker room. They swiftly headed over to the train station, boarding the maglev trains going to the Prison Sector.
Eros’ train was packed, guards pushing up against him. Ana stood by his side, dressed in riot gear and carrying the same rifle as him. How all the prisoners were released all at once was still a mystery to Eros. Thankfully the trip was quick. The maglev train slowed as it neared the station in the Prison Sector.
The train stopped and the doors opened. As soon as the doors opened Eros could hear the faint sounds of battle. The guards in their train cart began to exit through the doors.
“Ana. Remember to stay close to me,” Eros said as they exited the train cart.
“I will,” Ana said as she nodded.
Outside the train Eros and Ana joined up with the rest of squad Silverback and continued their journey towards the Prison sector. As they neared their destination the screams and sounds of battle grew louder.
They emerged into the main hall of the Prison Sector. Eros saw that the guards stationed here had set up barricades preventing the escapees from getting into the main hall. Guards were firing lethal rounds into the crowd of charging prisoners. Altered prisoners were using their strange abilities to attack the guards, but the guards were holding their ground.

Eros, with Ana by his side, continued to follow Tyrone to vault 13. They took the least dangerous and most direct route. On the ground outside the vault were the dead guards, a part of squad Spitfire. Escaped prisoners stood over their bodies, armied with their weapons. Two of them were attempting to open the vault door with an electric saw.
“Open fire,” Tyrone ordered, raising his kinetic rifle and firing at the two trying to cut through the vault door. The kinetic blast tore through the torso of the first one, hitting the second one and sending him flying into the wall. The kinetic blast left a bloody dent in the second one’s torso.
Eros opened fire as well. Firing twice, shooting two escapees directly in the head. They dropped to the floor dead. The rest of the prisoners were taken care of by the others of his squad. Turning to his side he spotted Ana frozen in terror as she aimed down her sight. Her hands coiled tightly around her rifle, she hadn’t fired a shot.
“Put the gun down and breathe,” Eros said as he placed a hand on Anna’s rifle, gently lowering it down, “You’ll get used to it in time.”
“I don’t think I can or know if I even want to,” she said. They began walking towards the vault with the rest of the squad.
“You’re going to have to if you want to get paid,” Eros said. “You have a family back home to support right?”
“Yeah.”
“Just think about them and all the good you can do for them by keeping this job.” Eros said.
“Eros, come here.” Tyrone said.
Eros turned around and walked over Tyrone. “Sir?”
“These bastards did a number on our brothers and sisters, they almost got into the vault too,” he said as his hands glided over the marks in the vault door left by the saw. Tyrone turned and looked Eros in the eye. “Change of plans, since the guards that we were supposed to reinforce are dead, I’m going to need you to take half the squad and protect one hallway, while I’ll take the other half and protect the second.”
He then turned to the rest of the squad, ”Ana, Lisa, and Warren go with Eros. Ray, Hiro, and Vanessa with me.”
They split up into their respective groups and went their separate ways.

Wulfgard: The Hunt Never Ends
In the civilized world of humans, 'monsters' have all but passed into legend. But when something goes bump in the night, when people begin to disappear, when a dark mystery begins to haunt even the most peaceful villages, there is only one organization to turn to: the Hunters. The Venatori. Having lived a life of discipline and service, former soldier Caiden Voros finds something even worse than the wars of humans: the monsters that hunt them. Horrors yet unknown even to him and his many scars await in the claws, talons, fangs, and mysterious powers of creatures so far beyond humans that he must dedicate himself entirely to the art of slaying them. Harboring a secret of his own and in a constant struggle to find answers while maintaining his sanity, however, Caiden begins to ask the age-old question... Who is truly worse, the monsters or the Men? Wulfgard: The Hunt Never Ends is an episodic collection of stories, each of which stand on its own, but they also build upon each other in a consecutive order, bridging a gap between a novel and short story collection. These stories follow monster hunter Caiden Voros and his partner Gwen Vergil as they embark on tales of mystery, horror, and adventure to track down monsters - the living dead, beast-men, shape-shifters, spirits, and many more - that would do harm to innocent lives and, by whatever means necessary, put a stop to their terrors. Their motives, however, are not always what they seem.
