《Slayer of Kings》Chapter 16 - The Shadow Claw Organization

Why do they want him dead so badly? He had never seen them before and he did nothing wrong. The badge was something he got from Cao by mistake, he never thought this badge, which he got by accident would lead to a problem like this.
However, before they could attack Mia's father stopped them "Wait" He ordered.
Not liking the decision one of the 4 spoke up, "But Sir Gerard we mu-" but stopped his sentence midway when Gerard signaled with his hand to stop talking.
Gerard then looked at Leo and asked: "Are you really from the Eternal Hunters Organization?"
"No" Replied Leo which was the truth.
"Then tell me why do you have that badge, which only its members will have?" Gerard asked as he could not understand how someone with no power got their hands on a badge which only the members of The Eternal Hunters Faction will have it made little sense for them to give such a badge to someone with no magic power.
"I got attacked on my way back from Moon Cave City but I escaped this badge belongs to the person who attacked me." The part regarding him knowing Cao was left out.
"Sir, he is lying it is clear like the day he is a spy sent by them, but revealed himself on accident," Said one of the men.
Gerard was deep in thought he was trying to think how a person with no cultivation escaped someone from The Eternal Hunters Faction but more than that he was wondering how Leo attracted their attention.
It was now that Mia spoke, "I don't think he is from there because if he was a spy why would he bring his badge here? Wouldn't that be the first thing he removed from himself? Then he and I were alone till now based on the enmity between us he would not hesitate to kill me when we were alone also he has no magic power why would such a powerful faction send someone so weak as a spy?"

It was when Mia said the last sentence the four men realized that Leo had no cultivation and all the other points which Mia said made sense.
Gerard smiled at his daughter. When he looked at Leo, it reminded him about himself when he was in his teenage years where he would get into fights with his peers and go for hunting in the forest right now Leo with scars covering his body and his top cloth lying on the floor after being removed from his wound, he took the decision to help Leo also this can be a gift for saving his daughter.
"As a reward for saving my daughter I shall give you an offer it is up to you to accept or reject it," Gerard said he continued without waiting for a response from Leo "I will allow you to join us The Shadow Claw Organization, however, there is more to it if you join then you will get shelter, money, and power but the world is not free I will allow you to join us as a gift for saving my daughter but you must work for us."
His eyes rose it did not sound like a bad idea after he joins them, he can use resources to increase his strength also it will help in familiarizing himself with the magic of this world but he wanted to know more about this organization before, he said anything hence he asked "What is it you people do?"
"All kinds of work, from spying, kidnapping, assassinations we even help other towns and villages protect their places," Replied Gerard.
This was good as in his old world also he did such things like assassinations and spying so this was right up his ally, but he still had to say one thing "Okay, I accept your offer, however I need more information regarding The Eternal Hunters Organization" This was said because he wanted to find out about their power and what was Cao's goal there also how strong Cao is as his magic level is still a mystery.

Gerard thought for a moment, then agreed "Very well then let us depart" He said while signaling the four men to take the two bodies of the assassins.
The four men were not happy with the decision of allowing Leo to join the organization, but since the decision was made by Sir Gerard himself, they could do nothing.
---
After 2 hours of traveling, they reached the end of the forest now a town surrounded by walls came into vision. The walls were much bigger than normal. The striking feature of this town was the abundance of cherry trees visible even from the town gates.
Cherry trees lined up perfectly on both sides of the brick made pathway. Buildings made from the same material lay past the cherry trees and sidewalk the construction and architecture looked much better than the wooden construction of the village.
It was noontime however cold wind still blew. Water still lingered on the ground from the rain. The clouds up above still refused to show sunlight.
"Take him to house number 51 and room 3," Said Gerard just as they were about the enter through the town gates to one of the four men after which he left with Mia and the other three with two bodies.
The person who got asked to do this was not pleased, but he did not have an option to refuse hence he held it all inside, but as soon as Gerard left it came to the surface however it did not bother Leo. Even though he did not like Leo, he still had to obey orders from Sir Gerard.
Wearing a worn out cloth covered in blood attracted attention towards Leo, but there was nothing to be done as he had no spare clothes so ignoring the stares they finally reached the house on the outskirts of the town. It had two floors with two windows on each floor.
After receiving the key and climbing the stairs, he got into his new room. It had two rooms a living room and a bedroom. It had a bed, a chair, a desk also necessities such as a bathroom and a small kitchen.
Making his way to the bed, Leo lied down, staring at the ceiling his wound had now healed by a lot and the pain was no more but he felt tired.
His next goal would be to find Cao and put an end to their enmity by killing him, but he still had a long way to go to accomplish that goal Leo could only sigh as he closed his eyes and fell asleep in that cold and silent room.

The Silver Mana - Book 1: Initiate
I used to be a healthy, young guy with a normal life - I had a career planned in professional soccer, a girlfriend, lots of hobbies, and loads of fun. Until the accident. Which changed my life. A few years later I had adjusted to my new reality, adjusted to being in a wheelchair, adjusted to having someone take care of me 24/7. And then the world changed. Old people and kids did not make it. And neither was I supposed to make it. But never count me out. If anything, I am tenacious. This new world was different. People could do magic. And there were monsters. And what about me? I had mana as well, silver mana. Which no one else seemed to have. The only problem was, I did not know what to do with it. Until I really needed to. Author's note: This is the rewrite of Silver Mana. The first bunch of chapters (until I will have caught up to level 2 of the dungeon) should be quite familiar to people that have read the original. There are some changes in content, but the story follows the original fairly closely for at least the first 150-200 pages. Most of the changes are in the writing, and some of the details of how things work. A few of the side characters get a bit more attention too. Some general comments to avoid disappointment: 1. The MC likes to swear. If you object to reading the word "fuck" at least once and usually multiple times each chapter don't read the book. "Fuck" is such a great, allencompassing word... fuck that; what the fuck?; fuck me! Fuck! one word, expressing so many nuances. And, frankly, the people I know that use fuck as a swear word.. they often use it a lot. 2. If you are looking for immediate progression, rapid advancement of the story, etc.... read another book. This one takes a bit. 3. I am NOT Pirateaba (who is writing The Wandering Inn) or anyone close to that level of productivity. If you expect to read 10k words every 3 days, or even just once a week... sorry. I've got a busy life. This is for fun, I have no patreon, paypal, anything, so I write when it is fun and however much is fun. Not more. And sometimes that turns out to be a decent amount, sometimes nothing. I have another book (Marrow) so that complicated things - basically I switch between the two whenever the muse strikes me.

Am I The Only One Who Is Not Forced to Migrate Across Worlds....?
A random isekai adventure might not be random. Underlying conspiracies, not-so-kind world and most importantly two-faced characters. Only time can reveal the flaws of the so-called Migrators! *** I am rewriting the novel. All this time, I have honing my skills as a writer. As my first novel, this novel served as a self-reflection of how much I improved later on. This doesn't have the most unique of plots but as a first novel, I still have some aspirations and memories.

Red Street Daybreak
August Samuel Hatch was born under an inauspicious pattern of stars. It's granted him what is widely considered the most unlucky of inconveniences: becoming host to a powerful but pernicious spirit that will act as his guide and protector--and one day end his life. Sairne is sworn to stand by August's side and, when the fancy strikes her, advise him, all in the service of atoning for a past life she can’t remember having committed a grave enough offense to earn her soul indentureship in the mortal realm. Bound by a celestial contract neither one can negotiate, their fates are all they've ever known. But in a city ruled by religious right and where magic runs deep as bedrock, their search for a missing friend leads them to a dark conspiracy that could transmute the very magic that binds them to their fates, and that might grant them the ultimate choice: do they save the city or save themselves? Cross-posted on Wattpad and Ao3. For fans of fantasy YA story beats if they starred adults instead, 1920s inspired setting, lots of banter, larger cast of characters, somewhat soft magic system. Completed, but being actively edited prior to posting! I'm the only captain on this ship, so mind any errors.
