《Slayer of Kings》Chapter 25 - Two More Days In The Village

Time was running out for Leo it’s been 20 seconds since he activated Frenzy which meant he has 30 seconds left. The remaining Devil Hound was already on the verge of death so Leo moved towards it in order to finish the beast, however, before he reached the beast two orbs of light rushed towards it from Leo’s sides which made him stop in his track.
The beast jumped in an attempt to dodge the orb. It worked, however, it evaded only one as the other struck its chest which resulted in a small explosion. Flesh and bones flew off from the beast’s body and landed on the ground. It screamed in agony. Taking the opportunity Leo with 15 seconds remaining on his Frenzy charged towards the wounded beast. It had no power to resist him and got killed easily as Leo’s dagger pierced its head and went through his skull and brain making blood scatter everywhere.
Emilia rushed towards Xander as the last Devil Hound died and soon Mia also reached. Looking at his wound Mia concluded that he had his muscles pierced by the Devil Hound’s teeth. It was a deep wound and will take a long time to recover. Blood collected around him like a puddle. One of Mia’s biggest worry thankfully did not come true as Xander was still breathing.
Mia took out a pill from her bag which looked like the same pill Gerard had given Leo when they met. She crushed the pill and let the powder fall onto Xander’s wound. The main purpose of this pill was to stop the wound from getting infected and also to increase the rate of healing
“What do we do Mia?” Asked Emilia as she fell on her knees as drops of tears fell down her cheek. It’s all my fault if only I reacted in time or was strong enough.

“Snap out of it Emilia you guys were caught off guard,” Said Mia as she kept her hands on Emilia’s shoulder.
“We need to take him to a hospital. Help me support his weight” Mia said as she lifted Xander’s unconscious body. Emilia followed.
“Leo take the bodies and find the village elder then meet us at the hospital” After Mia said this both her and Emilia rushed with Xander’s unconscious body to the village.
Leo picked up both the carcasses and left in the direction of the village. After 15 minutes of travel Leo finally reached the village.
Leo had never been to this village, so it was his first time seeing everything. The village was smaller than the town, however, it was bigger than the previous village. The roads were grey and much better than the ones found in the first village. The architecture was also much better, however, a majority of the houses were built with wood and some had metal sheets as roofs instead of wood.
Leo found a guard who stood near the entrance of the village "Could you show me the village elder’s place?”
The man was shocked to see Leo as right now he had blood all over his body and was carrying two dead beasts “Is that the two Devil Hounds that have been killing people?” The guard asked.
“Yes,” Replied Leo.
“This is great now we can rest at easy walk straight and you will see a big house with two guards that is the elder's village,” Said the guard.
After asking around the village, he found the village elders place. It was built in a much better way than the other buildings. It had walls made of brick and was twice the size of a normal home in the village.

Leo’s condition was truly pathetic he had blood all over his clothes and was carrying two dead animals as he walked blood dripped down from the carcasses which pissed off many people, but when they recognized that he was carrying the two beasts that had been terrorizing the village none of them stopped him.
As he neared the village elder’s house he got noticed by two guards. They wore dark green robes and had no weapons in their hands. As soon as they caught sight of him one guard rushed to the elder’s house as he shouted “Elder.”
Then came out an old man with a slightly bent back and a walking stick. He had a long white beard and hair. Looking at Leo, he smiled “You must be from the Shadow great work young man,” The elder said.
The old man signaled the guards with his right hand while his left hand holding the stick. The guards came and took the two carcasses towards the back of the elder’s house.
The elder then reached inside his robe and took out an old brown bag. He then gave it to Leo “Here is the reward for your mission 600 silver.”
Leo took the reward and left the elder’s house. He decided to find the hospital so he could give everyone their share of the reward.
After 6 minutes of searching, Leo found the hospital. It was made with dark red bricks lined on top of each other as cement held them in place. The bricks had no painting over them and were sharp to the touch.
The hospital had a small reception and behind it to the left was an open door. From where he stood Leo could see five beds to the left and on one of these beds were Xander who was still unconscious. Mia and Emilia sat on a wooden chair next to the bed.
The other beds also had patients in them and several family members stood near the beds.
Seeing Leo approach the door Mia got up and moved towards him “It looks like we will have to stay here for two more days after that he would need to rest for two weeks," Said Mia looking back at Xander.
Leo took out his share from the bag which was 150 silver and gave the rest to Mia “The rewards from the mission here it is.”
“Well then, tell me when we are ready to leave,” Leo said as he walked out of the hospital. Mia could only sigh as she returned to Emilia and Xander.
Taking the decision to buy some clothes and healing pill Leo began his journey in search of these two shops.

Darker chapters are marked with a disclaimer. Synopsis: Jacob reincarnates in his 15 years old body. It's just a few minutes before the Change that brought Demonic Beasts swarming all over Earth. Sadly, his talent is abysmal, and virtually everyone is stronger than him. And he knows that Demonic Beasts are not his only concern, for humans can be far more malevolent at times. St. Peter, Jacob's small mountain hometown in Abruzzo, houses only a few hundred. And since bigger monsters appear in more populated cities, they are relatively safe, or so he thought. But, he soon realizes that even if he went back in time, not everything is the same. And one thing is for sure: he is not the same. His soulmate is now in front of him once again, but things are different. Maybe too different. Follow Jacob in his struggles to protect everyone, change his talent, acquire strength, confront lost loves, and maybe meet new ones. This reincarnation story shows that people who can go back to their past may not be as successful as they thought. I will write no harem in this story. The protagonist may be involved with more than one girl, but not every female will fall at his feet. Swearing will be censored whenever possible since some people do not like explicit forms. However, the censoring will be minimal, like "Fuc**ng." [participant in the Royal Road Writathon challenge]
