《Slayer of Kings》Chapter 28 - The Old Man And His Story

"I will tell the story about me and my wife."
Emilia had her eyes glued to the old man as he said this.
"We both met while I was running an errand. I have never seen something so beautiful in my old life. The sight of her in that green dress is still engraved on my mind. I was so mesmerized by her beauty I ended up following her and forgot about my errand," The old man said as he laughed.
"It was hard at first she refused to come around, but eventually she did."
The old man looked through the window to the moon "Then came the best days of both our lives, we both traveled around the world from The Kingdom of Dawn to The Empire of Magnus. We would get a small house everywhere we went as my wife did not like big houses. Then we would watch the sun rise and set and the rainfall together."
The old man said nothing for thirty seconds, so Emilia who wanted to hear more asked the old man, "Come on, I know there is more to the story."
Even after Emilia said this the old man did not respond Emilia looked towards Mia who also had a confused look on her face.
Suddenly the old man's body shook as he fell from the bed, however, before his body hit the ground he got caught by Mia and Emilia. As this happened the other the other patients and their families looked towards them.
"Grandpa, what happened?" Emilia asked with a trembling voice, however, she got no response.
Three men suddenly came rushing into the room wearing white clothes. As soon as they saw the old man being held up by Mia and Emilia they rushed towards them.

Two of the men took the old man from their hands and walked out of the room with him. The one that remained looked at them as he sighed "It's truly a good thing you kids found him."
"But what's wrong with grandpa?" Emilia asked.
"He has been like that ever since his wife died. He had a son, but luck would have it that son left him alone, we took him into the old care home near the hospital," The man said as his eyes faced the ground "The world really is cruel to some." He added.
Emilia's hands covered her mouth while Mia and Xander turned their attention to the door from which the old man was taken out as for Leo his eyes were facing the moon.
"Well, thank you I'll take my leave now."
The other patients and their families had stopped looking towards them as they went back to their seats.
"It's getting late, we should probably go to the inn," Said Mia as she got up from her seat.
"Take care, Xander," Emilia added.

"Hey, Leo do you want to come with me to the river and train?" Emilia asked while on their way to the hospital.
This was a good idea as he had not trained for some time "Yes."
"Good meet me at the entrance in the morning."
Soon they arrived at the inn. Mia and Emilia stayed in one room while Leo stayed in another.
The room was fairly small. It had a bed and bathroom. The floors were all made of wood while the walls were made of bricks.
Leo went straight to the bed as his eyes faced the ceiling. The image of the old man appeared on his mind.

Why?
Leo sighed as he closed his eyes.

Knock Knock
Leo's eyes opened as he stared at the door. He got up from the bed and opened it.
The one who was knocking was none other than Emilia with her hair falling over her right shoulder and dressed in orange.
"Sorry Leo I didn't think you will still be asleep," She said feeling bad for waking him up.
"I'll wait down make sure you come fast," After saying this Emilia ran out even before Leo had a chance to reply.
Leo closed the door and went into the bathroom to freshen up after which he left the room.
When he arrived at the entrance of the inn, he saw Emilia waiting there for him. As soon as Leo arrived, they both left for the river.
After fifteen minutes of travel, the river came into sight. Unlike the river near the town, the sides of the river had no rocks as the grass-filled terrain led lead directly to it.
"This is the same river that flows near the town also," Emilia said.
"Listen, Leo I'll be over there," She said pointing at the center of the river from where they stood.
Leo was currently 15% in Normal Rank Level 1. His goal was to reach 20% today or by tomorrow.
Leo went to the middle of the river from here when he looked at Emilia she was covered with an armor made of water and her sword had lines that ran along its blade in a blue color.
He closes his eyes and began to absorb the Elemental Essence. The Elemental Essence rose from the river and surrounded him as it made its way into his body then to his Crystal. During this process, he still imagined himself absorbing the Pure Element and Pure Essence as he wanted to increase the rate of absorption.
Both did not talk to each other for an hour. The only sounds in the area were from the river and animals in the forest. He was now 20% in Normal Rank Level 1.
Leo did not know if this rate was slow or fast as he had no knowledge to compare it to. He decided to ask Emilia when she was finished with her training.
Leo put a hold on increasing his cultivation and decided to practice his two spells. Since he had only two spells this meant he had to be well versed in them to strengthen himself.
Leo's clone could fight by itself, however, the fighting ability was only at the beginner level and also it had the problem where it would freeze. Leo had no idea what was the cause of this. As for frenzy, he could remain in it for 50 seconds and he could activate 23% of the cells in his body. With frenzy active, his power would be 43% into Level 1.
His goal for today would be to increase the power of his clone, so it can fight by itself even though it had no weapon. As for frenzy, his goal was to achieve control over more cells. The last was to familiarise himself on fighting with both the skills active at the same time.
