A few minutes after Hazel and the others started looking for the artifacts Gabriel exclaimed, "Hey! I think I found something!"
"What!?" Hazel and the twins exclaimed running up to him.
"I was looking at the walls and then I found this." Gabriel said before holding up what looked like a dead polar bear head, "There was an invisibility spell on it."
"That is just messed up." Rachel gagged before she saw Hazel backing from the head in terror, "You okay Hazel?"
"I-I just don't like bears." Hazel said stuttering a little.
"But why would there be a stuffed bear head here?" Ace asked.
"Maybe there's something inside it." Gabriel suggested before shaking the bear head.
"Stop doing that!" Hazel exclaimed before hiding behind Rachel.
"Sorry." Gabriel apologized.
"Ms. Abernathy I believe I have found something."Luna said before dropping a small vial of purple substance in Hazel's hand.
"What is that stuff?" Ace asked.
Hazel uncorked the bottle before smelling it.
"Lotus nectar." Hazel said corking it up again, "I heard these make great healing potions."
"Healing potions?" Ace asked.
"Yeah." Hazel said smiling, "Though Lotus nectar can only be found in the East."
"That's it!" Gabriel exclaimed.
"What's it?" Hazel and the twins asked confused clear on their faces.
"You remember the Legend of the Four Hunters, right?" Gabriel asked.
The twins furrowed their brows while Hazel nodded slowly.
"Don't you remember?" Gabriel said now smiling, "The one from the North was a hunter, the one from the South was an assassin the one from the West was a magic user, and the one from the East-"
"Was a healer." Hazel finished before looking at the vial, "This must be the artifact from the East, Gabriel must be holding the artifact from the North. So all we have to do is find the artifacts from the South and the West."
"Now that I think about it, I did see a eagle engraving on one of the pillars." Ace said.
The other three looked at him in disbelief before Hazel said, "And you just thought to tell us now?" in a irritated voice.
"Yes." Ace said slowly.
"You idiot!" Rachel exclaimed before slapping the back of his head with her hand.
"I'm sorry alright!" Ace said as he and Rachel ran to the pillars.
"Wait up!" Gabriel exclaimed as he and Hazel ran to catch up with them.
"You two are too excited for this." Hazel said smiling a little before Ace showed them the eagle engraving.

"Looks like the one from the legend, alright." Gabriel said examining the eagle.
"Maybe." Ace muttered before pressing the eagle.
"Woah!" The other three awed as a secret compartment appeared.
"Oh, hello." Ace said pulling out a small knife.
"The artifact from the South." Rachel said as they all examined the small knife.
"Now we only need the artifact from the West." Hazel said as Ace sheathed the knife.
"But where to look?" Rachel asked.
Hazel thought for a moment before looking around, her eyes landing on a small patch of rose bushes.
"What did the legend say about the magic user, again?" Hazel asked walking up to the rose bushes.
"They said that the magic user was tough like a thorn but beautiful as a rose." Gabriel answered as he and the twins stood beside Hazel in front of the rose bushes.
"You don't think the wand in their, do you?" Rachel asked.
Hazel inspected the rose bushes before something silver caught her eye.
"Not in but under." Hazel said before pulling out a silver wand from beneath the bushes.
"Well done Ms. Abernathy." Luna said before perching herself on Hazel's shoulder.
"What do we do now?" Rachel asked as Hazel handed her the wand.
Just after she said that the ground began to shake as four pedestals rose from the ground.
Gabriel and Hazel turned to each other before nodding slightly.
"Everyone pick a pedestal." Gabriel said as they all walked up to them.
"Ready?" Hazel asked.
The other three nodded before they all placed each artifact on the pedestals at once.
There was silence for a moment before each artifact and four locks appeared on the gate.
"Now what are we supposed to do?" Rachel asked as they walked to the gate.
Gabriel touched one of the keyholes of the four locks before smiling.
"What's up with you?" Hazel asked.
"The keyhole feels like a slot for a nock of a bow." Gabriel said looking at the others.
"Really?" Ace asked.
"I know the shape of a any bow part like the back of my hand." Gabriel replied.
"I wonder if-" Hazel whispered before feeling the keyhole of another lock, "It feels like a dagger blade."
"Then that must mean." Ace said before meeting his sister's eyes.
Rachel and Ace approached the last two locks before they felt the keyholes.
"Swords?" Hazel asked.
Ace only nodded before all of them pulled out their weapons.
"On three?" Hazel asked.
"That's probably the safest way." Rachel said.

"Alright then." Gabriel said readying his bow, "One."
"Two." Ace and Rachel readying their swords.
"One!" Hazel exclaimed before they all inserted their weapons into the keyholes.
"Everybody stay back!" Ace exclaimed as their weapons glowed a blinding white light.
"Ugh." Hazel grumbled as she rubbed her left eye, "What happened?"
"I have no idea." Gabriel said rubbing his own eye.
"Guys." Ace said standing still dumbstruck.
"What's wrong?" Rachel asked.
Ace only stood there before pointing at the gate's direction.
"Is it open." Gabriel began before they all looked at the gate's direction, "Woah!"
The four hunters stood there transfixed staring at the now opened gates. they stood there for a few moments before Hazel decided to finally break the silence.
"Let's go." Hazel said before giving a sharp whistle, "Josh! Come on!"
Josh cawed before perching on Gabriel's shoulder.
"Hazel are you sure about this?" Gabriel asked grabbing Hazel's shoulder.
Hazel stopped for a moment before giving him a reassuring smile, "Somebody's got to save them."
The other three looked at each other before nodding.
"We're right behind you." Gabriel said smiling.
"Let's go!" The twins exclaimed as they entered the gate.
"You okay Gab?" Hazel asked as they all retrieved their weapons.
"Just thinking of how hilarious it is that you've been a Monster Hunter for only a few days and your already trying to save nearly all the hunters, for about the second time." Gabriel said as they started to walk.
They walked for a few moments before they reached a wall. The four looked at each other in disbelief before Ace approached the wall and gently placed his hand on the wall before the wall slid to the left revealing Chancellor Nevermore's office.
"What now?" Rachel asked as they entered the office, "Hazel?"
"Why are you asking me?" Hazel replied.
"Hazel your the leader here, so what do we do now?" Gabriel said.
Hazel took a deep breath before looking all three of them in the eye.
"We save the hunters of course." Hazel said smiling.
About fifteen minutes later they were sneaking out of Chancellor Nevermore's office.
"You three know the plan?" Hazel asked turning to the others.
"Find the hunters, get them out with the back entrance but the ones that don't wanna leave then they can help us kill the intruders." Gabriel answered.
Hazel nodded before they all started walking quietly again.
"Where could they be?" Ace asked after ten minutes of looking for the other hunters.
"The Estad!" Hazel and Gabriel exclaimed quietly.
The twins smiled before they all ran to the Estad.
"Who goes there!?" a stern voice asked as a figure like a man with bat wings, emerald eyes, and black skin appeared.
When the creature saw them it let out a blood curdling scream.
"What is that thing!?" Ace asked covering his ears.
"Its called a Haise!" Hazel replied as she and the other two covered their ears.
"Josh, Luna! Distract this thing so we can figure out how to kill this thing!" Rachel exclaimed.
"I think I got a plan!" Gabriel said.
"Spill!" The twins demanded.
"The birds will distract it and when anyone gets the first opportunity to kill it, then take it." Gabriel explained.
The other three nodded before there was a flash and the Haise turned into a bat.
"Never mind!" Gabriel said shooting an arrow through the Haise's head.
"Nice job." Ace said before they all turned to the two birds.
"You two okay?" Hazel asked.
"We're alright Ms. Abernathy." Luna said.
They continued walking for a little while before they heard a voice say, "Is somebody out there?"
"Matthew?" Gabriel said walking up to the Estad's closed doors.
"Gabriel?" Matthew asked, "Thank God your safe, is somebody else with you?"
"Hazel and the twins are here with me." Gabriel said before Ace kicked the door down.
"The four of you have a lot of explaining to do once we get rid of these intruders." Chancellor Nevermore said as he, Abbey, Matthew, and James walked out.
"You can lecture us later, right now we need to move." Rachel said before Hazel walked up.
"Everyone that doesn't want to stay follow the birds!" Hazel exclaimed gesturing to Luna and Josh before continuing, "Those who want to stay and fight, just stay put!"
Everyone glanced at the birds but stayed put as Chancellor Nevermore stepped forward.
"All of us are staying." Chancellor Nevermore said rather firmly, "Nobody leaves until these intruders are dead."
Gabriel and the twins looked at each other before looking at Hazel.
"Let's give these intruders Hell then." Hazel said smiling while crossing her arms.
Twenty minutes later the Monster Hunters were running towards the Great Hall lead by Chancellor Nevermore.
Once they entered the Great Hall they faced it swarmed with different monsters.
"Attack!" James and Abbey exclaimed.
Suddenly a monster that had a disoriented goat head and antlers roared before the monster began to attack.

Outlook: The Stars (Consciousness Unbound Book 1)
The year is 2152. Rune Yahui is a nineteen-year-old failure, not having gained entrance to college or the military, with no significant prospects in life. Even worse, Rune is the poorest of the poor, hailing from the mega-slums of New Southern Chicago, the lowest pit of America. In a desperate last-ditch attempt to gain a future more lustrous than toiling the rest of his days away in abhorrent conditions in one of the near sweat-shop level factories that dot the megapolis, Rune signs up for the Virtual Citizen program, a program to cull the excessive world population by transferring just their brains into a video game. In a stroke of rare luck, Rune is admitted into the program and happily submits himself to the surgery and digitization process. Unfortunately for him, he wakes up several hundred years later than he expected... or does he? **Author's Note** This isn't a type of story typical to RRL. You may have noticed LitRPG in the tags, but it's a relatively minor element in the story until later. You may also notice Slice of Life is in the tags. This story is going to be slow and there won't be any power tripping until way later if at all. The focus will be on character development. That doesn't mean I won't still have action/excitement, however. I encourage you to give the story a try. Maybe it will be your thing, maybe it won't. Thanks for even taking the time to read this, and if you do give my fiction a try, I hope you enjoy it. If you don't, well, I hope you find something that you do enjoy. Happy reading!
