《Reborn: Last Chance to Ascend》52. Purge, part 1

I looked at the three stories tall buildings surrounded by a dome made out of the wind. Twenty souls were moving inside, with few of them being relatively bright. The protective magic of the building looked imposing, but I immediately noticed one glaring weakness, "There is no magic protecting the roof...". I wasn't sure if it was an oversight or a trap, but it didn't matter.
I moved towards a roof and phased through it. I was in some kind of attic filled with cobwebs and wooden crates.
'Wait for a second, why am I going inside like an idiot. Can't I just blow up the whole building? I mean, if I want to fight against so many people. This whole building will be wrecked anyway. They probably destroyed all evidence already, so there is no need to hold back...'
So I spread my wings again and phased through the ceiling.
Hovering about a building, I summoned my staff and aimed it down towards the roof of the building.
Then a thick magenta solar flare like beam fired from my staff, piercing through the roof and multiple floors all the way to the ground. Exploding in the waves of heat each time it pierced a floor.
I slightly moved my hand, and the beam moved too, splitting the whole building into two halves.
Surrounding stone walls started to melt, and wooden supports turned into cinders. Walls collapsed, and a thick cloud of dust lifted into the air, where it was sucked towards a wind dome. I stopped my beam and looked towards a site of destruction.
Only seven strong auras remained. They were all buried under piles of rubble. Most of the building crumbled except for a few outer walls that were protected by magic and were far enough from a place where my beam hit.
"Bang!" with a loud bang, a massive piece of stone moved to the side, and a big hairy arm came out, followed by the body of huge two meters tall, muscular man. He was bald and looked like a Letho from a witcher, except for his arms being covered in thick hair.

Another piece of ruble moved, and the man with a sword covered in wind currents in one hand and old looking staff in another levitated out. His face was hidden under a hood covered by dust and soot.
I grinned, 'Well, this time, I will finish him.'
The rest of the auras were deeper underground.
'They are probably in a basement, so it will take them a while to dig out. So let us use that time to kill these two.'
Musclehead grabbed a massive piece of rock and threw it toward me. Wind man sent a surge of wind towards a rock, boosting it even more. I flapped my wings a moved to the side. Rock flew by mi side and hit a wind dome, shattering into multiple fragments, joining a whirl. In the meantime, a few winds blades were launched towards me.
I moved to the side again, but they were widely spread, so I was hit by a few of them. Sphere of the magenta-coloured solar corona formed at the tip of my staff. I let it grow to the size of an apple and released it.
My eyes immediately burned away, 'Fuck... She didn't deliver my glass to me. I will... Wait, It's probably not her fault. It would be almost impossible to obtain such glasses in such a short span of time.'
I turned my head aside to regenerate my eyes. I felt my barrier drain as it was hit by enemies attacks. Then a wave of heat passed by me.
I opened my eyes and turned towards a place of impact. A puddle of molten stone formed a small lake in the middle of a crater of seven meters in diameter, surrounded by rubble. The rubble itself was searing hot in red light. The whole ground under the dome was seared black and all flammable objects ignited.
There was no trace of the muscular man, but I immediately spotted the wind man. He was panting on another side of the ruins with his skin covered in ugly burns.
'Such a shame... He got away before it hit him. He is like a cockroach.'

"Hahaha, now you are not such a boss when I can go all out?. Hahahaha." I laughed as my emotions fueled by joy from magic and excitement from a battle ran wild.
Wind man looked at me. His hood burned away. His face was so burned that the only visible feature was his green eyes.
He had a pained expression on his face, so I decided to end his torment. I aimed my staff at him, and he closed his eyes, ready to die. Then a beam of light hit my barrier, causing me to interrupt my spell in surprise.
"Zum", another bright beam of light hit my barrier. I had no chance to dodge as it literary moved at a speed of light...
I quickly looked for an attacker, and I spotted him. As I was focused on the wind man, I didn't notice that the enemies managed to unblock an entrance into a basement.
Three more attackers joined enemies. One of them was a man was wearing civilian clothes and holding a crystal ball glowing in pure white light. Then another ugly unshaved man wearing a cheap-looking leather armour jumped fifteen meters high. Reaching me, trying to hit me with his two axes.
"Die, you monster!" his axe closed towards my barrier while glowing in blue light. Space around me warped, and I blinked out of his reach.
Another thin beam of light hit my barrier, and after that last newcomer, a short figure covered in green robes threw away its robe and spread his eagle-like wings. He threw himself towards me with a glowing sword, turning into a blur.
His sword hit my barrier, creating sparkles of energy as they collided. I ejected my claws and swung them towards his sword, but he didn't block but stopped flapping his wings, turning into a freefall evading my strike.
"Zum", a light man fired another beam of light, hitting my barrier.
Knowing that I needed to get out of the situation fast as my barrier was dropping, I aimed my staff at the light man and released my [Bending Destruction Solarbeam]. Beam flew in a straight line with tendrils of unstable solar elements destroying its surroundings. The bubble made out of the light formed around the light man, blocking my beam for a fraction of a second before he turned into a light and moved at light speed to the new position.
'Hmm, the light element is definitely not the most damaging, but its incredible speed. I should probably integrate some magic using light as a medium into my repertoire. It will be great against fast-moving targets.'
I quickly moved my staff together, with the beam coming out of it towards a recovering wind man. His eyes opened wide, and then the beam hit him. His barrier was already depleted, and his body instantly disintegrated.
Axe-man leapt again. His axe swung towards me and then. I slightly moved aside, and my beam bent, hitting him from behind. He couldn't even change his direction as he was in midair. As he was not a mage, no barrier formed around him. Instead, my beam hit his sturdy skin soaked in a weird form of warrior magic.
"Aghhh!" he let out a might warcry accompanied by a wave of orange energy that temporary repelled my beam. Sadly for him, he still couldn't change his direction, and orange energy quickly dissipated, letting my beam touch his body again. His muscles burned down from the heat and rotted away from a death attribute. His body bent, and his muscles distorted from a chaotic nether attribute. Soon it disintegrated.
'Note for the future... The bodies of humans in this world can be much tougher than what they look. Especially of these using a melee weapon.' I thought to myself.
I noticed something, 'Hmm, why did no one attack me while I was focusing on axe-man?'
I quickly looked around, and then I spotted it. A light man was standing behind a cover of the swordsman. He was quietly mumbling something while his crystal ball radiated in pure white brilliance.
Mana was whirling around him, 'Whatever he is doing, it will be big!'
