Angel was breathing heavily as he hid himself at an alley in Luminus City.
"That's was close ..."
He took a deep breath to calm himself and looked at his hand.
"I have to cover up this power..."
He closed his eyes and focused his dark aura to envelop his entire body, preventing others from detecting the flow of power within him. Shortly he opened his eyes.
"That should be enough..."
He came out of his hiding place and walked down the street at Luminus City to the city gate. But before he reached the city gate, he saw many people gathering on the side of the street kneeling. The Euphorion troops were also seen standing guard around them.
"Hey you! Why are you still standing there? Quickly help us! The king will arrive soon." said one of the troops.
He paused and looked at the clothes he was wearing. He still wears Euphorion's uniform, of course they consider him as one of them. He quickly approached them.
"Forgive me."
He looked around trying to understand what he had to do. Some troops were seen pulling people from the shop and forcing them to kneel on the side of the street.
"They forced the civilians to kneel to welcome the king? This king is really a joke! "
A troop forced a crying boy to kneel, he seemed have lost his temper, his legs were raised almost kicking him. Angel immediately approached him and hold the kick with his hand. The troop looked at him angrily.
"What are you doing?!" he snapped.
He returned his gaze with a relaxed expression.
"Let me handle it." he said casually.
"Keep him quiet before the king comes or I behead him!"
He nodded slightly.
"I understand."
The troop turned around and went to check on other civilians.

Angel knelt down on one leg and looked at the boy.
"Tell me why are you crying?"
"My mother... I am separated from my mother..." said the boy sobbing.
"Get on your knees, after that I promise I'll help you find your mother. Okay?" he said with reassuring smile.
"Really?"
"Yes... Now get on your knees, the king is almost here. You don't want to make him angry, do you?"
The boy nodded then he dropped to his knees.
He stood up as the first cavalry marched past him, the troops bowed to greet them. Angel followed them to bow.
Soon, three men and a woman passed him, they are all in their twenties. He can feel powerful magic power from them.
"Four elemental spirits..."
He glanced at them, from the color of their hair, everyone could guess their names. Frost, a man with messy white hair, gray eyes and behind his belt were two short swords. Flare, a short black haired woman, has black eyes and on her belt there are two chakram. Gale is a small man with green hair, green eyes and a large bow on his back. Gaia is a muscular man with brown hair, brown eyes and there is a large axe on his back.
Shortly, a royal carriage passed in front of him, the window is open showing a man in his end of twenties with gray hair and a friendly face. His hand waving to the crowd around him with a smile on his lips.
"Is that King Xenos? He doesn't look like a cruel person to me."
He keep his head down, when he raised, he could only see the back of the king’s last cavalry following him.
He helped the boy to get up.
"Let's find your mother." he said.

The boy nodded his head, they just walked a few steps, a woman ran toward them.
"George!" she shouted.
The boy turned towards her.
"Mother!" he said as he ran toward her and hugged her.
Angel sighed in relief after seeing the boy managed to meet his mother.
"Mother, he helped me find you." the boy said as he pointing at him.
His mother only glanced at him with displeased expression and immediately pulled his son away.
"Let's go, don't deal with the royal troops."
He watched them walk away.
"Looks like the relationship between the military and the civilians is not that good."
He turned around and walked towards the gate but a troop called him.
"Where are you going? We have to go back to the castle and the meeting will start soon."
He stiffened and went silent.
"If I enter the castle now, it will be very difficult for me to get out again. Besides, I have to make preparations before attacking."
"Why are you silent?" the troop looked at him suspiciously.
"It's strange I've never seen you before. Tell me what your squad name and what division are you from?"
He remained silent while thinking hard, suddenly one of Duke Nicolin's documents crossed his head.
The troop pulled out his sword prepare to attack him.
"Turn around! And say who you are!"
He turned to face him and placed his right fist on his chest in the customary of military greeting.
"I'm Zel, from the secret agents division. I just returned from spying the Kingdom of Asteria."
The troop looked relief with his replied, he sheathed his sword and placed his right fist on his chest in response of his greetings.
"No wonder, I've never seen you."
"Yes, I must go now to report my investigation results."
"If you want to meet with General Guillotine, you don't need to go to his residence. Everyone is gathering at the castle right now, he will definitely be there too."
"Is it true?" he replied, while he deep in thought trying to find an excuse to avoid him.
"Yes, you must go to the castle now. Come on, we can't be late." said the troop as he gestured to follow him.
"Alright." then he followed him to join with other troops and walk towards the castle.
He secretly sighed a heavy breath when his plan to enter the capital backfired giving him trouble and taking him to the castle. Entering the castle at a time like this was the worst thing he had ever hoped for, every castle was protected by 'magic shield' including White Moon Castle, only the king and several officials who trusted by him were given permission to use magic power inside the castle. In other words if he gets caught, he only can depend on his fighting abilities as a swordman.
"This is really bad... Fighting the whole Euphorion army by only relying on my sword is the worst plan I could expect for."
He looked towards the castle that was glowing in silver in front of him from a distance and thought for a moment.
"No... This is indeed the worst plan but also the best plan. Xenos wouldn't have thought if he was attacked in his own house, beside I could look for information more easily from inside the castle."
A smirk started to develop on his lips while his feet continued to walk towards the castle with other Euphorion troops.

Crimson Gloom
Crimson Gloom. The time when the moon turns crimson, illuminating the landscape with its crimson glow. The time when the ‘doors’ to the Crimson Abyss open. One shall gaze into the abyss and gain its secrets and powers. Concurrently, the abyss also gazes into oneself, gaining one’s sanity and humanity. Dimensional rifts appeared spontaneously on Earth, bringing otherworldly demons along with the Crimson Gloom. Bloody battles were fought, noble sacrifices were made. Humans eventually sealed the rifts and successfully defended their homeworld. Alas, the seals were not perfect. The Crimson Abyss continued to exist, slowly influencing Earth and its inhabitants. Half a century of relatively uneventful years passed… humanity slowly descended into corruption, and the majority of them knew nothing of the effects of the Crimson Abyss. Is there only the dreadful gloom left to the world? Can one find brightness in the increasingly gloomy world? The youth who had gazed into the Crimson Abyss had no answer, nor did he care. He only wanted the Crimson Gloom to end, to forever seal the Crimson Abyss. A mistake and a twist of fate led the youth into a seemingly totally different direction. Will he forget his lifelong goal? Will he instead step back onto his initial path that he fervently pursued? Disclaimer: I do not own the image on the cover. Image edited on canva.com.
