《Lucky SP》Chapter 16 - Ministry Hospital

In an underground complex in Chicago. A man wearing a neatly tidied suit was briskly walking down a hallway. He slicked back his hair with a comb and adjusted his collar as he walked. He passed by guards patrolling the halls in uniform attentively. He carried a folder in his grip. He approached an office at the hallway's end. He nodded to the two guards on each side of the door. The right guard pressed a button under his sleeve. The door buzzed. It unlocked and the guards held the door open for him. He walked into the room without hesitation. Another man with a curled mustache, sat behind a large executive desk in the room. His desk was and himself was clean without a speck of dust on them. His eyes were sharp and his eyebrows thick. Behind his desk was a large beautiful painting and at the edge of the room, there was a secretary calmly sitting behind a desk filled with different communication devices. The mustached man was reading through a document methodically and he didn't even glance up when someone entered. The man in the neatly suit calmly stood straight in front of the executive desk. He waited patiently for the mustached man to finish reading. Five minutes passed before the mustached man put down the documents and looked up. "New intelligence has been found." The neatly dressed man said. He presented the folder he was carrying over. "Mmm." The mustached man grunted and opened the folder. He glanced at the document once. Inside the folder was a document with a picture of Lucky, Zero, Marian, 77, and Tonya respectively. The report mentioned a disturbance along the side of the road where strange markings began to follow these children. A big notice was labeled across 77's picture with extra file data. His eyebrows raised in surprise. He calmly closed the folder before turning to look at the art painting hung on the wall behind his desk. He folded his hands and stared at the panting. It was a large Eagle performing an attack on another Eagle. They looked interlocked in combat and struggling to win a fight of survival. The bottom of the painting titled it: "Evolution Wings". "Mr. Oscar, what do you think of those children?" The mustached man asked calmly. The man in the neat suit, named Mr. Oscar, replied. "One of them has our marking methods on them. 77 is in our database. She was reported dead from liver failure." "I could see that. But if all of these children are special type alphas, why didn't we see any signs of this development within 77's report?" The mustached man asked again. "We don't know for certain if they are special types yet. However, sir, I strongly suggest acquisition of these assets for the organization." Mr. Oscar calculated. The mustached man turned around in his chair slowly. "Approved. But be clean with it." he said. "Understood." Mr. Oscar turned and walked out the office. The mustached man turned back to the painting and continued thinking to himself. ... Ministry Hospital Emergency Room. Zero, Lucky, Tonya, and 77 were sitting inside Marian's recovery room. After they arrived at the hospital, Marian needed urgent attention from the blood loss and amount of wounds on his body. Lucky and Zero had bandages tightly wrapped around their left arms. Tonya had one on her leg and 77 had them wrapped around her waist and back. They all suffered at least one wound each. And the bites from the Bodie's ability were not simple. They bit into flesh and bone equally. The bite marks were clean cuts. The flesh was removed so smoothly from the teeth. The hospital staff were horrified at the amount of bites they had on them. They told the doctors they were attacked by a group of rabid dogs in the city. And they couldn't fight back easily. The police officers who were resident at the hospital for emergencies did not question their statements for their injuries. Because of Lucky and Zero's arm injuries. The most common dog attack wounds are on the forearm. Still, it was a bit hard for the doctors to accept such clean bite marks. But they got over it. They just assumed it was some kind of mutant animal. Marian finally woke up after he had passed out at the coffee shop. "Was it worth it?" Zero asked sarcastically. Marian ignored him and surveyed his bandages. "Holy shit! I'm alive again? Fuck deja vu!" "Haha" Lucky laughed along with Tonya and 77. "I don't think you get twice as much power each time you survive death." Lucky joked. Tonya smiled "I never thought I would end up thanking you Marian. But thank you." "Whatever haha" Marian laughed. The doctor came into the room and they stopped talking. "Alright, Mr. Marian and his friends. I went over your chart again and you will be able to leave in a few hours. Just make sure you eat to replenish your lost blood." The doctor flipped the papers on a clipboard quickly then smiled. "I think you shouldn't get any dogs in the future too." the doctor smiled. Lucky looked at Marian's bandages and back to the doctor. 'Oh he thinks all the 'dogs' naturally hated him and attacked him? Haha' Lucky laughed silently. Marian explained too Lucky and Zero what had happened inside the coffee shop. He didn't go into much detail, but it was pretty much what Lucky had guessed. Marian ambushed the Bodie after cutting off his line of sight. He explained and continue talking for hours until the five of them returned back to their dorms late at night. ... Lucky was looking at the sky outside his open window. His dorm was ground level, but the sky was unusually clear tonight. The stars could be seen even inside a city like Chicago. A breeze blew by his window and rustled his hair. He was thinking about everything. This was the second time he has run into a Bodie. And this one was no joke. He was also thinking about his identity. Lucky was very confused when he first woke up in the morgue. He felt conflicted for a while if he should look into who he used to be. But after meeting everyone from the Special Orphans Recovery class. He felt this could wait for now. He didn't really care. He only cared about enjoying his time with his friends and preventing anyone or anything which wanted to take that away. Lucky decided he had enough thinking for the night. His arm still stung from the bites, but he would still try to sleep. He closed the window and climbed into bed to sleep.
