' Hey, can I use appraisal? '
(Devouring monster)
' Will I die? '
' Doing it then '
I try to appraise myself and information starts to flood my mind.
Skills: Sword Mastery Lv6, Large sword mastery Lv 3, Martial arts mastery Lv 2, Acrobatic combat Lv 2, Wind magic Lv 3, Fire Magic(will'o wisp) Lv 4, Nature magic
Lv1, Physical damage resistance Lv 7, Magic damage resistance. Lv4
Special: God eating monster, Greater magic talent, Greater magic potential,
Titles: ?????? ??? ?? ??? ?????? ?? ?? ????????? ?? ? ??? ? ??????????? ???.?????, The chosen, Betrayed one, Deadman, Non-human human, Dragon Slayer, Dragon castrator, ????? ????? ????.
While trying to read I notice that something is kind of odd... I can't move my body and as a result, I fall to the ground.
(Devouring monster)
' I'll use this time to read that info again then. I don't have anything to lose from that now. '
I read the appraisal a few more times and come to a conclusion...
' What the fuck is wrong with this?! I didn't know I had so much physical damage resistance! I didn't even know I had magical resistance! Since when do I have greater magic talent and greater magic potential! And what's wrong with that title?! '
God damn it... So, everything that you have under "special" is what you were born with or that was created from something that was already in that "special". Do I really need to explain the titles?> (Devouring monster)
' Yes. I can't get any detail yet do I? '
(Devouring monster)
' What about those other two? '
That gave an idea...> (Devouring monster)
' Wow... that's... Awesome? Well, I better get ready and go meet with Noemi. Today I'm going to learn a new magic spell with her again. '
I get ready and head to her class.
«Hey Jim! Is everything alright? You look kind of pale..?» (Noemi)

«Yes, I'm alright... Just stop appearing from out of nowhere, please...» (Me)
' She keeps scaring me like this... What are her stats?! I can never sense her presence which is weird... '
' Seriously?! '
We arrive at the field and the teacher's shirt gets drenched in his sweat instantly.
«S-s-s-so... T-t-today w-w-we'll learn t-t-this spell...» (Pigman Teacher)
The teacher gives a sheet of paper to every student while trembling, except to me and Noemi.
«Why do we not have one as well?!» (Noemi)
The teacher jumps and moves a few steps back. He then slowly and reluctantly approaches us and gives us an old looking piece of torn paper each, before running away to the other student's side. We look at each other and start reading the paper.
«So we are using a harder spell?» (Me)
«N-n-no... T-the p-p-princ-cipal t-told m-me...»(Pigman Teacher)
«I told him to have you two summon a beast. Seems like he didn't know you two were geniuses and is now incredibly nervous. The pieces of paper you have are the instructions to the magic circle. After that just drop a bit of blood on it and imagine the most loyal thing you could possibly have as a pet. Then, voila! Your Familiar will appear and automatically for a contract with you. Convenient am I right?» (Principal)
The principal comes from out of a building and explains what the teacher couldn't.
«Are they getting a familiar already? So lucky... » (Student A)
«They are geniuses so I guess it's just normal...» (Student B)
«Why is it always them...» (Student C)
' Look's like we'll be getting really famous really fast. '
«Okay, I'm bored of waiting I'll make that damn circles for you. Just put your blood in it and do the thing and get it over with.» (Principal)

The principal stomps his foot and two large circles appear on the ground right behind him.
Noemi walks forward and takes out a small knife.
' Was that space magic?! Where did that knife come from?! '
She lightly cuts the tip of her finger and a single drop of blood fall to the center of the circle, takes a few steps back, sits down and closes her eyes. An intense dark red light starts overflowing from the circle. A shadow then starts rising from the center of it. Dark, thick horns appear and after almost ten minutes, the familiar is fully out. It's a Ram. A dark Ram with an ominous aura that could take two persons on it's back. He looked at Noemi, lay down and bowed its head.
«I'll name you "Despair" » (Noemi)
They seem to talk telepathically a for a while and then Despair disappears in a cloud of darkness.
«A ram huh? That's actually the first time I've seen anyone summoning a ram. Then again, I usually only watch the geniuses' summonings so I've basically only seen the summoning of dragons, angels and the likes. Now, Jim. Go for it.» (Principal)
«You'll get a really good familiar! I know you will! » (Noemi)
«Hopefully.» (Me)
I approach the circle and I slightly cut the tip of my finger by making a sharp blade on my gauntlet. A few drops fall into the magic circle as I step back. I then imagine the most loyal dog, one that would never leave my side and would be waiting for me even if I would never come back. Bright dark lights come out of the circle and, this time, as a small fox suddenly appears on it.
«I guess his familiar won't have an epic entrance as well... »
The small fox climbs to my shoulder and rubs its obsidian-like fur on my face.
' I have to say... You might not look strong but you are incredibly adorable. '
(???)
A female voice sounds inside of my head.
' I guess the contract does this as well... Really convenient. '
«IT'S SO CUTE!» (Noemi)
Noemi's eyes are shining while looking at the fox. The fox seems to also be smiling.
' I still need to name him something... and yes... it's a him. '
«I'll call you Kit.»
(Kit)
«Now I guess you all can go on with your class. I'm heading back.»
The principal takes a few steps and then stops. He just stays like that.
«C-can I touch it?» (Female Students A-F)
All the girls in the class approach me in the hopes of petting my familiar Kit.
«L-let's go...» (Female student A)
«This is getting dangerous...» (Female student B)
Noemi is scaring all the girls off with her intense stare. Some students even
«I think you might have saved us... We would have most likely drowned in there if it went on...» (Me)
«No problem! I need to protect my lover as well right?» (Noemi)
' "I don't remember being your lover" is what I would say but I know where this would lead already so I'll let her think this was until it becomes an actual reality. '
«So the humans are at it again... Understood. » (Principal)
I didn't hear anything from what the principal said other than that.
«Why the are you making such a face..?» (Noemi)
«Nothing... » (Me)
' How does she even know my face if I'm wearing a mask...? '
The principal looks at me and then keeps walking into the building.

Delve
Summary – Level 1: Delve is an isekai litrpg that follows an average guy who just happened to wake up in a forest one day. He wasn’t summoned to defeat the demon lord or to save the world or anything like that, at least as far as he can tell. The only creature there to greet him was a regular old squirrel. Soon enough, he meets other people, only to discover that he can’t speak the language, and that not everybody immediately trusts random pajama-wearing strangers they met in the middle of the wilderness. Things generally go downhill from there, at least until the blue boxes start appearing. Delve is a story about finding your way in a new, strange, and dangerous world. It’s about avoiding death, figuring out what the heck is going on, and trying to make some friends along the way. It’s not about getting home, so much as finding a new one. Did I mention that there will be math? Summary – Level 2: Okay, but what are you in for, really? Well, this story is supposed to be realistic, or at least, as realistic as a fantasy litrpg can be. The main character doesn’t instantly become an all-powerful god and murder-hobo his way across the universe. Delve is, at its heart, a progression fantasy, but that progression is meant to feel earned. The numbers in this story actually mean something. Everything is calculated, and if you find a rounding error, I expect you to tell me about it. That said, if math isn’t your cup of tea, there is plenty more that the story has to offer. Characters are meant to feel real, and progression isn’t only about personal power; it’s also about allies, connections, and above all, knowledge. Figuring out how the system works is a significant theme. ... What, you want more details? Okay, fine, but this is going to get a bit spoiler-y. Are you sure? Yes! Really sure? I mean, this summary is practically half as long as the first chap– Now! Okay, okay! The main character becomes a magic user, but he takes a route that is not very popular in adventurer culture, namely that of a support. There is a full magic system with various spells, skills, and abilities, but our MC decides that aura magic is the way to go, and that the only stat worth investing in is mana regeneration. Most people at the Adventurer’s Guild think that this makes him a bit of a dumbass, but he’s playing the long game. We’ll see how that works out for him, won’t we? Because of his build, the MC levels up fast, at least compared to normal people. There are no cheats, though, and he is limited in other ways. There are some clear and pretty obvious downsides to his build. That’s what makes it fun, no? Morals? Our MC has them. Again, we’ll see how that works out for him. Realism, remember? Would you be okay with killing someone and looting their body? I sure hope not. POV? The focus is on the main character, but there will be occasional varying perspectives from people around him, or involved in the events related to the main plot. It isn’t going to jump all over the place. Tech is standard medieval stasis. No smartphones, but the MC does have a technical background. Computers and their programming might be involved. There might even be a bit of uplifting down the road, who knows? Anyway, it isn’t the focus. He isn’t going to invent the gun in chapter 1 and change the face of warfare. Romance is not a major focus. Friendships are more the name of the game, though there will be some characters in romantic relationships. There is exploration, though not as much of the geographical nature as you might expect. It is more about exploration of the system and the culture. The pace is slow and detailed, sometimes verging on slice-of-life. The action is meant to be realistic and grounded in the numbers, and it is intended to have meaning beyond simply punching things until they stop moving. The general tone of the story is grey, and some parts can get quite dark. People die. Sometimes, people with names, but not anywhere near GoT level. There is plenty of light, too, though, to balance the darkness. The world is dangerous, but overcoming that danger is why we’re all here, isn’t it? Anyway, if you’ve made it this far through the summary, you clearly like words. I hope you enjoy the story! Cover by Miha Brumec Summary Updated: 2020-06-14
