《The who that I really am》Hardships of a father

«It's a boy!» (Doctor)
After nine long months, he finally came out. My second son.
«Honey, did you not choose a name for this boy?» (Titha)
Titha looks at me with eyes filled with fatigue. Giving birth is one of the most tiring things known to men.
«Yes. He shall be named Nystro! Nystro of Din!» (Me)
The doctor hands the crying baby over to me, the father. It might not be the first time I held the newborn of my own flesh and blood, yet the feeling is still breathtakingly pleasuring.
«As of tradition, let us appraise the boy and check what he inherited from the parents. Seeing that you two are the parents, I expect a strong warrior like your eldest son.» (Doctor)
I take the baby to the appraisal room and lay him down on the table. I occasionally look bat at Titha to see if she is resting well.
Out of nowhere, the doctor's expression grims as he takes a dagger out of his clothes and points it at the boy's heart. I stop the dagger with my arm, bathing my son in my blood.
«What are you doing?! »(Me)
After a few seconds of silence, the doctor manages to open his mouth.
«Ridding this word of monsters...» (Doctor)
«This is my son! You saw where he came from!» (Me)
«There's no mistaking it! He possesses skills with so much dark power that no human could ever be born with... He is a monster!» (Doctor)
«Having that skill means nothing! You can't kill a human baby like this!» (Me)
«He has to die! If that skill ever manifests, all of humanity will have an enemy within their lines!» (Doctor)
«I'll educate him so that he doesn't!» (Me)

«That won't do!» (Doctor)
«What kind of skill is this to be so bad!?» (Me)
«Just uttering the name will bring misfortune... I'll be reporting this to the king. This monster cannot live.» (Doctor)
This is taking us nowhere. What is this damn skill? If the only problem is the skill then...
«Let's seal this skill. If it ever manifests, I take full responsibility for it. Please let my son live.» (Me)
The doctor looks back at me who was on his knees with the forehead laying on the stone floor. He gulps and then keeps walking.
«I-I'll be reporting this to the king.»
Like this, Nystro might survive. The sealing has quite a high chance of doing nothing and a chance to kill him just as high but, it's the only way. There's now a slight chance that that skill will be sealed and he can live a normal life.
A few days later, the three of us went home. Peter finally met his younger brother and was delighted beyond words. A few weeks later, a messenger from the king arrived with a message.
«I will now quote the king: "I hall allow it. Seal the boy's power. BUT! With two conditions. The two of you shall show absolute loyalty to the kingdom and fight for its peace against the demons. Lastly, would the boy's power awakens once again, you shall kill him yourself. If he survives, your life will be taken as well as his.» (messenger)
This is a trap. This is obviously a trap that we can never get away from. He will keep on fighting and eventually, the seal will weaken and his power will run wild... Even if he gets sealed successfully, one of us won't die of old age.

«I agree.» (Me)
But there's really no choice.
In the end, the sealing worked. There was a side effect that his personality divided and half of it sealed as well but it's something meaningless. Later we had our first daughter.
As soon as Nystro turned seven, I started instructing him on killing demons and swordsmanship. We trained together and on our own. He was exceedingly kind and strong. Surprisingly so. Those days were happy.
But I knew very well they wouldn't last forever. A demon attacked the village when Nystro was there and his powers awakened once again protecting everyone. Word spread around like wildfire and I knew what had to be done. I want him to live but... What can I do? They probably have spies already looking at me. I can't help him run away nor can I fake his death somehow. The only thing I can do is make a bet. There have been sightings of "Peaceful" demons. He is strong so, even if dropped from high up, he'll probably survive for quite a bit. If those demons find him and heal him. Both of us will be safe until he is found again. He might hate me and might want to kill me but, at least he can live.

Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea by Jules Verne (1870) (Completed)
In 1866, ships of several nations spot a mysterious sea monster, which some suggest is a giant narwhal. The US government assembles an expedition to find and destroy the monster. Professor Pierre Aronnax, a French marine biologist (and narrator within the story) receives a last-minute invitation to join the expedition. As the expedition travels south around Cape Horn into the Pacific Ocean, the crew finds the monster after a long search and then attack it, but the ship is damaged with the three main protagonists thrown into the water. They are quickly captured and then meet the enigmatic Captain Nemo. ~ Twenty Thousand Leagues Under the Sea is a classic science fiction novel by French writer Jules Verne and was originally published in 1870.
