《Jupiter's Rising》Chapter 3 – Slime?

All I see, inside the room, is the ball slowly spinning but the top and bottom are spinning in different directions while the rune like markings are split in the middle mixing and matching with the others and when I got a little closer to the bowl I saw it slowly coming to a stop with the runic engravings having been altered from the spinning the ball had just performed.
“SHHHHHHHHHHHH”
The ball started making an odd sound that started to push air bubbles into the water and seeing that I am still wearing gloves, I grabbed at the ball slowly cupping it in between my fingers and raising it out of the water because I wanted to see what it was doing as my curiosity got the better of me.
Holding the ball in my hand I stared at it making the weird sound that sounded like a freezer door being opened in the middle of the night with the cooling fan spinning.
When suddenly
“BANG!”
I flinched at the sound only to notice the top half of the ball popped right off hanging from edge of the bottom half as if it was a pokeball. ‘Yeah, didn’t expect the pokemon effect from this thing.’
The interior glowed a bright blueish green hue which left me squinting my eyes for a better look until my eyes slightly adjusted and I finally got to see inside the ball. Inside the ball was one of, if not, THE weirdest thing I have seen in my entire life.
I looked at it with shock plastered over every square inch of my face.
“uhh” Was all I could get out of my mouth from looking at it. What it looked like was well, for lack of better words, was…
A slime?
I was confused because it basically looked exactly like a small green glob of gelatin about a few centimeters in width and length and it was making small movements as if it was alive with little nubs poking out and going back in from different areas on its surface.
Getting a better look, the thing had a couple hundred different black spots inside its body that shined like tiny little dim stars.
A few moments of staring later, I finally get nudged back into reality from the daze this, uhm, creature caused me and couldn’t help the urge from somewhere deep inside my slightly idiotic brain that wanted me to poke it.

‘Humans and their innate wish to poke at all unknown things…sigh’ Throwing the thought to the back of my mind as fast as it came into it, I slowly put the pokeball onto the table while keeping an eye on the little slime just in case it turns out to be some devil that can jump around the room. Paranoid?
100 fucking percent!
I take off my gloves and take a seat on the office chair and take a piece of metal lying on the desk to do what must be done. And so, ready to jump away at the first sign, I poked it…
Nothing. The blob just kept doing its slow “I’m alive but not to the point I can do anything more than fidget” thing while I stare dumbfounded at what in all hells of hell I am staring at.
“Peculiar little thing, aren’t you?” I ask it while it keeps doing its mindless bobbing and weaving.
Confused and without power to do another “shocking” experiment, I organize my thoughts about what to do now. Considering I planned on selling this thing, as its worth has clearly been displayed but I have no idea if it can be closed in the ball again, will the slime be upset and attack or if selling the ball while keeping the slime be the better?
My mind of littered game/novel knowledge was screaming to kill it and gain experience points but my natural curiosity overwhelmed my childish desire for xp in real life.
So I asked it a question like any sane man would do faced with slime from a ball that came from the void that is space.
“Hey, slime! What are you?” I boldly questioned it due to its lack of sudden movements which somewhat reassured me of this incredibly odd situation I found myself in.
The slime kept its gelatinous motion going from my question while I stared at it but I did notice that it started growing a nub that didn’t return into its body after moments of staring at it. The nub slowly grew from a pimple to a slowly forming tentacle that kept extending until it stopped at 6-7 centimeters while directly growing towards my face…
“Uhm… I apologize slime but I do not understand your response…” I replied to its tentacle growing stunt as I had no idea what the hell that even meant.

Still staring at the slime I noticed the slime body emit a little more blueish-greent light and the tentacle grew even longer while this time growing towards the hand I had on the desk that wasn’t too far from the ball. Still confused, I decided maybe it wants to show me something so I slowly moved the tip of my index finger towards its tentacle, slightly nervous at what it’s trying to say or do. The slime tentacle slowly wrapped around my finger and it felt slightly cold with a soft but slimey texture though It didn’t secrete any form of ooze or wrap too tightly which made me a little less worried and grossed out for that matter.
While it was still slowly wrapping around my finger at the snail like pace, all I could keep thinking about was ’where the fuck did you come from? Did it understand what I said? Was the pokeball its spaceship? Are slimes invading the earth? Is it peaceful or is this finger wrapping a form of attack?’ These thoughts raced through my mind as I stare at this ever so slow slime wrap its tentacle a few times around my finger until I was nudged out of my thoughts by a slight pull from the slime.
Since it was just a little pull, I figured I could always escape with just a little extra force so I indulge my new little friend here by letting it pull my finger closer towards it while I maintain a certain level of vigilance yet still in awe that slimes actually existed in the world. Like I have seen them in games and all that but this is real life so come on! A fucking slime is in my workshop in REAL FUCKING LIFE!
Meanwhile, while I was getting lost in my thoughts and excitement at this game like creature, my finger finally reached the slimes main body and the moment I touched the slimes body I received a huge shock.
No! Literally, I got fucking shocked by the slime!
My consciousness started to fade and fear grew at incredible speed as I saw the slime body moving and slowly covering my hand which I couldn’t even pull away due to the speed of me fainting.
“Fucking sneaky bastard!”
Those were my last thoughts as I slipped into unconsciousness with my back falling against the office chair and my hand still in these evil things gelatinous grip.
While Jupiter had fainted, the slime slowly moved its entire body onto his hand and started its ascension from the hand to the forearm and continued its ascent.
…..
All was black for Jupiter.
He felt like he was dreaming and that he was walking on a stone road which led him someplace faraway and while he was walking he noticed a slime the size of a baseball on the ground slowly moving towards him. Feeling scared for some reason, he ran away and when he stopped he noticed this time that there was another slime but this time only bigger that started to move in his direction. Not understanding why these slimes were appearing, he kept running only to notice more and more slimes appear and some were as big as a ball while others were the size of couch all slowly heading towards him. He felt himself sweating like crazy and his fear clouding his thoughts and eventually he was surrounded by slime and they all slowly closed in with him in the center.
He saw them take his feet first and then he tripped and then his arms were taken into the slimes, then his legs, then his back and eventually the slimes formed a giant slime with him being at the center and he tried to struggle but couldn’t move because of the viscous liquid which felt like moving through mud. He felt like he was suffocating from the slime and his fear reached a new peak high until he heard a soft slightly monotone voice…
“It’s okay”
Those were the last things that ran through his mind until he blacked out again.

Gaijin
Gaijin means outsider or foreigner. That goes doubly so for David Wyatt after he found himself in a world being chased by something that looked eerily like a stereotypical Japanese Oni. Now, he has to figure out how he can find his place in a world where most people dislike him on principle. At least everything is also out to eat him in some way… wait, that’s a not a positive. This is a Eastern Fantasy GameLit story. It is primarily told from the main character's perspective with the very common trope of an isekai. There will be my own spin on things, so facts I pull from eastern mythology and legends will be drastically different in some aspects. In the end, this story is just for your and my enjoyment. There will be guaranteed chapters every Friday at 15:00 CST, and I will randomly post chapters at other times when I get in the mood for writing or when I like a particular scene.
