《The Chaos Within》A new home

A week had passed.
Kira hadn't missed a day without visiting Leo.
The next day, she came after school, sat down beside Leo on the bed, and held his hands.
"I promise you. No matter how long it takes. I'll come by and visit you every day after school. I won't give up on you just like how you've never given up on Me." she whispered before planting a kiss on his forehead and taking a seat beside him.
She held his right hand in both of hers and decided to close her eyes for a minute since she was exhausted from school.
A few minutes later she opened her eyes, feeling a hand caressing her head. She looked up and saw Leo looking down at her, sitting on the bed while caressing her head, with his usual grin.
"L–eo." Though shocked at first, she was relieved upon seeing that grin of his again. "Thank God.". Tears were falling down her cheeks, she couldn't help but hug him
He smiled and hugged her back with his left arm, patting her back a few times.
"Wait, I'll go get the doctor." Kira rushed outside the room to get a doctor.
Upon their return they saw Leo sitting there, staring at his legs with a shocked look on his face. Leo couldn't feel his legs anymore which was a great shock to him.
The doctor and Kira approached him.
"Your spine was severely damaged, which resulted in a permanent paralysis to your legs. I'm sorry, young man–but at least you're alive which is a miracle itself." he patted Leo's shoulder. He then injected Leo with medicine before walking out.
Kira sat down beside Leo, feeling bad for him. She held his hand. "I'm so sorry, this is all my fault. You always jump into my rescue and end up harmed. I'm really–sorry."
Leo pulled his hand away from her, he just kept staring at his legs.
Kira slowly pushed herself up and walked off but before exiting, she turned and looked at Leo by her left shoulder.
"This is my fault. I'm really sorry. If I could put myself in your shoes right now, I would." Then she looked down and walked out, it was notable she was feeling terrible, blaming herself for everything that happened to Leo.
She went back home and opened the door.
"KIRA!" Smith ran towards her for his fatherly hug but then he stopped, noticing the tear on her left cheek. "Kira, what's wrong?" He asked with concern.

"Nothing!" Kira shook her head and forced a smile then walked upstairs to her room.
Her father gave her some time to cool down then walked up to her room and knocked twice before entering. He saw her sitting on her bed with her arms around her knees with a sad look on her face.
"Sweetie, what happened? It's ok I'm your dad you can tell me!" he asked while caressing her back.
"He hates me! I'm so stupid I shouldn't have gone to see him that day!" tears were dripping down her cheeks.
It took him no effort to figure out that she was talking about Leo and that he was finally awake.
"Oh, Kira, he doesn't hate you. Just give him some time. He went through a lot after all." trying to comfort his daughter, he wrapped his muscled left arm around Kira, hugging her to his chest and caressing her back.
And so, Smith finally got his hug.

The next day, Smith went to Leo in the hospital. He saw him sitting there on the bed, staring at the window.
He took a seat beside Leo and sighed.
"Hey, Kid. Glad you're doing well!" He patted Leo's shoulder once.
Leo looked back at him.
"I know you've been through a lot and–lost so much so far but, don't hate Kira for it. She might be clumsy sometimes but she's kind-hearted. You have no idea how much it tore her apart when your heart stopped that day and how long she remained in the hospital every day by your side while you were in a coma. I know I don't have the right to say it but even if you forgive her one day, she still won't forgive herself. So at least cut her some slack from your side."
"Get well soon, kid." He patted Leo's shoulder twice before leaving.
Leo thought to himself but then he started to have a headache and some pain in his right eye.
As soon as Kira finished school she went to the hospital again to visit Leo. She knocked twice on the door, bringing him some hospital food and notes of the lessons he'd been missing.
She placed the food beside Leo and the notes on the table.
"Those are–notes of the lessons you've missed." she had a nervous tone.
There was a moment of silence and she felt uncomfortable.
"Right then. I'll–see you later". She didn't know what else to say and turned around to leave but then felt Leo's hand holding hers, preventing her from walking away.

She turned around and looked at him and she saw him holding a note with some words written on it. "I don't hate you. Please, Stay."
With a smile on Leo's face, Kira froze there for a moment then smiled faintly.
The nurse came in to check on Leo.
Leo tried to use his right hand to eat but his right hand was shaking and the spoon fell off. Kira picked it up, sank it into the soup, and raised it to his lips.
"H–here." she had an embarrassed look on her face. Leo took a sip and grinned at her.
She spent a few days with him in the hospital, helping him with his studies especially the lessons he'd missed since the midterms were so close.
A day later the doctor signed Leo's discharging papers. Kira pushed him with the wheelchair out of the hospital.
Kira's dad was waiting for them outside in a police cruiser.
"Come on, Kira. Let's go home." Smith waved.
Leo waved to them and moved his wheelchair in an attempt to leave but Kira pulled it and prevented him from leaving by pulling the wheelchair back.
"Dad forgot to tell you that you're invited to dinner with us and I won't take "no" for an answer!"
"......" Smith remained silent, confused by what Kira said, sounds like Kira took the initiative here.
Leo looked down for a bit and it seemed like he had no choice but to accept. He didn't want to make Kira sad after finally making up with her.
The duo took Leo in the car and went straight to Smith's house
The trio arrived, Kira helped Leo inside and her mother Mia welcomed them.
They had dinner, Leo wrote on his note and raised it to them. The note said, "Thank you for the delicious dinner and the warm hospitality. I'll take my leave now."
"You're welcome, sweetie but, you know we would like you to stay here with us. We actually discussed it and we all agreed that you should live here from now on." Mia proposed with a warm smile.
"We did?!" Smith was confused. Mia nudged him and gave him a death stare. "Oh yes, we did discuss it and we would love for you to stay here with us for a while!"
Leo looked at each of them until his eyes laid on Kira.
"Please?!" She used those puppy eyes thing.
Leo couldn't say no to that face, he wasn't sure why. Usually, he would decline such propositions but with Kira it was different.
Since Kira's big brother was in college and usually lived in the dorms there, his room was empty. The family decided to let Leo stay there which showed how much they were grateful to him.
It was the first time in years for Leo to lay on a bed. He rested his head on the bed and closed his eyes but after midnight he started to have a painful headache. Not just that, his permanently damaged right eye started to hurt him so much.
He started hearing sounds and voices, he could hear Kira talking on her phone in her room like he was sitting right next to her. He could hear a cat meowing across the street, outside his window. He tried to sleep but the pain in his right eye only grew worse. He pushed himself into his wheelchair and went straight to the bathroom, he removed the eye patch and stared at the mirror, and then he saw something strange. His right eye regenerated and took the shape of a blue beast eye, almost looked like a snake or a cat's eye.

Meanwhile, Marcus went into a patient's room in the hospital. Sarah, his little daughter, was unconscious due to the medicines she had taken and only had a few days left due to her late-stage cancer.
"Don't worry little one, just one syringe of this and you'll get cured," he mumbled
He took out the syringe and moved it closer to her left arm, about to inject her with it but someone grabbed his arm out of sudden from behind.
"What the hell are you doing?" The doctor yelled while holding Marcus's hand.
"Please, you have to understand, this is the only way for her to live, please" Desperation was the only emotion in his voice.
"SECURITY!"
The security came into the room quickly and detained Marcus. Though he tried to resist them, his attempts failed.
The police arrested Dr. Marcus for attempting to use an unauthorized medicine and so he was thrown into the NYPD cells for the time being until they investigate his case further.
