"I feel somewhat sorry for them"
His white hair which had been dyed red by the blood of his enemies leaked an unsettling aura, if anyone were around they would surely mistake him for a monster.
"Let's check the amount of Exp I gathered, if I calculated correctly I should have killed around two hundred of them"
"Exp Log"
[16,000 Exp Acumilated]
[Leveled up to 10]
[Lvl 10 2,060/6,600]
"Honestly I was expecting more, how on earth did the elites reach level 31. Forget level 31 at this point even level 29 can be considered amazing"
[New Ability Unlocked 'Lucifers Flames' Enables User To Borrow Lucifers Flames]
[New Ability Unlocked Flame Manipulation Allows the user to manipulate any type of flame]
"Borrowing his Flames?"
"System give me detailed information about 'Lucifers Flames'."
[ "Lucifers Flames" Enables User To Borrow Lucifers Flames. To Add More Information Please Collect Data On The Fallen Angel Lucifer]
"Uh What?"
[Warning System Interference User Is Adviced To L-L-Log.....]
"Whats going on!"
[May I ask you a question?]
"this voice..."
It was completely different from the voice of the system, it was life like with a hint of anger hidden deep within the voice. Saito who had been calmly conversing with the system broke into a cold sweat.
'This voice it sounds so familiar yet I cannot identify it'
[A King who massacres his people to get his message across]
[A devoted follower who seeks the throne]
[Who is the sinner?]
'The sinner? am I supposed to answer the question if so it would be the king?. Wait no what if its a trick question there no context I cant answer the question without any context'
[Who is the sinner?]
The voice rang out yet again but this time with traces of heated anger as the voice slowly deepened causing Saito to slowly step back.
"T-The King!"
[Then why am I the Symbol of sin?]
The anger which kept fuming up darkening the surrounding, caused him to drop onto his knees without any power left in his body.
[He rules unjustly if he was really benevolent you wouldn't have lost your path. Since every form of existence sees me as the symbol of darkness I shall play my part in this useless play.]

The voice suddenly disappeared leaving him on his knees. he didn't dare move until a few minutes after, making sure there were no signs of danger.
'W-What just happened'
'is it because I unlocked a new skill?'
He continued to walk whilst trying to think of a reason for the recent events, he felt as if he had heard the voice in the past yet he had no memories of it.
'Could it be...'
'I guess I'll have to wait and see'
"Human?"
Saito armed himself whilst diverting his attention towards the voice. A Kobold with thick red skin and beaming orange eyes stared at him, a crown made out of bones with a red gem placed at the center could be seen on top of the kobolds head.
'What type of Kobold is he? he seems different from the usual ones and he can speak."
"Where is he?"
'He?'
He took out a throwing knife with his left hand without alerting the kobold.
"What are you talking about? actually, why can you even talk?"
The kobold who seemed to be excited frowned upon hearing his answer.
"I felt his presence. Human, you dare lie to me do you not value your life?. As long as that sinner exists my clan cannot rest in peace"
'Is he referring to the voice?'
"As I said I don't know what you're talking about"
Swoosh
The knife flew towards the kobold with great speed.
"Fool"
The kobold didn't move even an inch instead it raised his hand waiting for the dagger arrive. However to its surprise as soon as the dagger came into contact with him he got sent flying before smashing into a wall of rock.
'It didn't pierce him!'
Cough Cough
The dust settled down revealing the kobold who had hardly sustained any sort of damage.
"I comen..."
Before the kobold could finish his sentence another dagger appeared right before his eyes this time aimed at his head, the kobold hardly had enough time to react before getting hit.
Boom!
Another cloud of dust appeared as the kobold's body dug into the wall of rock.
"Oho you're stronger than I expected"

'What! that should have pierced him'
The kobold was perfectly fine although he had sustained minor injuries it was nothing compared to what Saito had expected.
"How?"
The kobold smirked whilst wiping the dust from his shoulders, he showed no sign of anger as if Saito was no threat to him.
"Now you're willing to listen?"
The Kobold ran towards him without any intentions to answer his question, it jumped towards him with its right hand raised aiming towards his chest.
'too easy!'
He easily evaded the claw by jumping out of the way as soon as it approached. However, the Kobold simply smirked whilst rotating midair aiming at him with its tails.
Bang
The kobolds tail directly hit his chest sending him flying back, as soon as he landed Saito jumped to his feet getting himself ready to evade the kobolds next move however without any luck he was unable to evade directly facing the force of the Kobolds Claws.
[Warning player has sustained minor damage]
'At this rate, I'll die'
The kobold smirked with a gaze of hatred looking down on Saito.
"Now tell me boy, where is he?"
'I can't pierce his skin, however, the force of my strength is able to push him back. He might have an ability which allows him to ignore piercing damage If that's the case then.'
Without answering the question he flew towards the kobold focusing all his strength towards the kobold's chest, as soon as his fist connected with the Kobold body flew and smashed onto the ground spitting out blood.
'Alright now it's my turn'
With his superior speed, there was no way for the kobold to avoid his fists. before the kobold could regain his composure Saito forced another hit towards its face yet again sending him off towards the opposite direction.
"THAT'S ENOUGH!"
The kobold quickly raised its claws predicting his movements, the claws landed on Saito's chest causing him to jump back quickly.
[Warning Bleeding Effect Inflicted On The User]
'I need to get rid of him quickly, its time to use it'
"This is goodbye human"
However, ignoring his words he placed his arm forward concentrating his energy. Something unusual appeared at the tip of his index finger although it had no color it felt hot and anyone could clearly feel something was there, the flame seemed to reek emotion.
'Although I cannot tell what exactly type of emotion it is, it feels dangerous...'
The kobold who was determined to kill him had quickly retreated, with a clear expression of fear in his eyes.
"Those eyes, it's you its all your fault!"
[My fault?]
'My eyes?'
'Huh whats going on'
The invisible flame which emitted heat a few seconds ago head settled down.
'Am I out of mana?'
.................
'Wha...'
The scene in front of him left him dazed, the Kobold who had been standing right in front of him had been ripped into pieces from limb to limb.
'How not even a second has gone by!?, you're telling me someone was able to do this in a blink of an eye?'
He began to survey his surroundings trying to pick up any signs of life, he couldn't afford to face someone with that much power. However after looking down at his hands which felt soaked his eyes widened in shock.
"Blood!"
His whole body was soaked in blood, although he had gotten used to the gore through fighting countless kobolds what surprised him wasn't the blood. It was the fact that he was somehow related to the kobolds death, although his strength had risen through unlocking his new class even he knew that it wouldn't be possible to leave the kobold at this state with his current strength. The kobold had been ripped to shreds and there was no sign of blood on his dagger which meant he had somehow done this through sheer strength.
'Whats going on? it couldn't have been me'
"Exp Log"
[20k Exp Acumilated]
[Leveled Up To 14]
[Level 14 4000/7000]
'I killed it...'
After pondering for a few minutes his expression began to darken, He collected the remaining materials and the crown from the kobolds shredded body before logging out.

Tower of Somnus
When humanity first encountered alien life, we were judged and found wanting. The Galactic Consensus interviewed our leaders and subjected us to a battery of psychological tests to determine our progress as a society. They found us to be selfish, wasteful, impulsive, and boorish neighbors. Earth was blockaded and our collective encounter with our extrasolar neighbors rapidly faded from memory. All they left behind was a hypercomm relay and a handful of subscriptions to a massively multiplayer game that participants played in their sleep. The Consensus said that it would let us interact with our neighbors in a controlled setting. That it would teach us to be better members of the galactic community. The megacorporations that controlled Earth ignored the game until they learned that the powers earned from clearing dungeons were just as real when day broke. Magic, supernatural abilities and rumors exploded from nothing and a subscription to The Tower of Somnus became a status symbol. Katherine ‘Kat’ Debs doesn’t have much, but it could be worse. Born in an arcology, she was assigned a job in the megacorporation that raised her almost as soon as she could work. Despite the stability of her corporate life, she wanted something more. A chance that wouldn’t come naturally to someone as familiar with dark alleyways and the glint of steel as she was with office work and corporate niceties.Book One is up on Kindle Unlimited as of 7/6/22 - https://www.royalroad.com/amazon/B0B2X3L8H5

He slowly backs up until his back is against the wall like my own, "You're..my neighbor?" He points to my door and I nod my head quickly. He hums softly, "You been here a while?" He asks and I nod my head once again. He chuckles, "Ya head hurt?" I nod again but stop as he laughs softly, "I-I mean.. no.. it doesn't." My cheeks burn red as I look at my shoes, "I-It doesn't hurt.." I repeat like a dummy and listen to him clear his throat, "So do you actually live there or was it bull?" He nods to my door and I play with my fingers, "Yeah.. I do.." I feel his eyes watch me and I quickly stop. "You live with your boyfriend or do you like sweatshirts that reach your knees?" He teased, making a giggle slip past my lips. I look away to the floor again, "I-I like big shirts... a lot." I mumble softly and he nods his head, "Hol' up." He puts his box down before walking over to one of the grey bins. I nosily watch as he pulls out a big grey sweatshirt, "Here." He holds it out for me to take and I stare at him with wide eyes, "F-For me?" I hesitantly grab the soft fabric as he chuckles, "Nah for ya mom." I puff my cheeks a little and give him a small glare, "Hush." He leans back against the wall and shakes his head, "It's cold out. You should put it on." ____________________________She was a shy girl from the city with no spine and a list of problems so long that it could touch the floor and roll off her shoes.
