Autumn came, heralding golden leaves that fell to the ground in lackadaisical piles. Jack Minnow felt the cool air brush his cheeks, his small body spread-eagled on a hill of emerald grass. His eyes watched the shifting golden canopies lit by the sunset, and a deep sense of peace settled over him. Thanksgiving break was here, and he had all the time in the world.
Their cottage stood a little ways back, a small, derelict thing which held a cozy charm. He could barely hear her mother working within, finishing building an ornate fireplace. She’d be here soon, he knew; she always checked on their ‘little Jackie,’ and he wanted nothing more than to share this sublime scenery with the ones he cherished most.
‘There’s nothing nicer than rural Ohio in autumn,’ he thought as he surveyed the small shrubbery. A small head poked out of a bush before a large form emerged from the underbrush, eyes twinkling, its golden fur matching with the warm colors of autumn. Jack rushed up to his golden retriever, Lucky, curious. “Why are you back so soon, boy?” he murmured. The dog shook its furry mane once before depositing something small and furry onto the cushion-like leaves.
He felt a wet tongue tickle his ear as he bent down to inspect the prey. A small bird, white-colored, its wing bent at a strange angle. Jack gasped, backing away from the wounded creature. “Mom!” he cried. “I- I think Lucky found a hurt baby bird!”
Moments later, footsteps sounded down the path and a brown-haired figure emerged in the distance. His mother, Annie Minnow, crouched down behind him and gasped at the sight. “Here-- we’ve got to help his wing,” she said, slowly picking up the bed of leaves upon which the bird sat. Her movements were slow and cautious so as to not disturb the small creature. Its curious dark eyes were filled with agony, and it chirped and buckled all along the route to the cottage.

They were lucky that his mother was a veterinarian, Jack thought as they made their way up the stairs of the cottage. She placed the leaves with the bird into Jack’s hands, saying, “Don’t drop it!” before dashing into the back room for her tools. Jack stared at the small bird, which stared back at him with panic in its eyes. He gave it his best smile, hoping to reassure the little thing.
“It’s okay,” he said, as if talking to a small baby. “We don’t want to hurt you.” Surprisingly, the little bird seemed to relax slightly at his cooing tone; or perhaps it’d realized that struggling would only aggravate its wound. A moment later, his mother returned, some pins and a strip of gauze cradled in her arms. “Step back,” she ordered, adopting the professionalism of a seasoned veterinarian. He obliged, leaving the room and wandering outside. For the next half an hour, he paced restlessly on the balcony, finding himself unable to leave.
A moment later, a voice rang out from within the cottage. “Come in!”
He hurried inside to find the small bird chirping happily, a makeshift cast holding one wing together. It hopped about, flapping one wing before almost tumbling down the table. Jack laughed and cradled it in his arms, watching as the little thing cuddled itself against his chest.
“I’ve given it some painkillers,” his mom explained, exasperated. “Here, give it to me,” she said, holding out a hand. Jack reluctantly returned the furry creature, watching as his mother slowly placed it in a small box.
“You can visit it, but don’t take it out of the box,” she ordered. Jack hopped up and down, excitement written all over his face. “Can- can we name it?” he asked. “Absolutely not,” his mother replied curtly, taking off two plastic gloves. “We’re going to release it to the wild in a week. Creating any emotional attachment only--” she cut herself off upon seeing the crestfallen look on Jack’s face.

“Alright, fine,” she allowed. “But just know we’re going to release it soon. Don’t get too attached to it.”
“I think I’ll call it Jackie Jr.!” he exclaimed.
In the days to pass, Jack spent much of his free time playing with the little bird. He even left the house to pick up nuts to feed it, a plan which would have been disastrous had his mom not intervened at the last moment to tell him that his ‘blueberries’ were poisonous. It chirped and bounced and snuggled up against him. Jackie Jr. especially loved napping in the palm of his hand, its small, yellow beak resting on the tips of his fingers.
Soon, a week had passed by, and it was time for the bird to go. Its wing was almost fully healed now, though it had not yet attempted to fly. His mom and he stood in the balcony now, the small dove peaking out curiously from within his arms.
“Well, I guess this is goodbye, Jack Jr,” he said softly. A pang of sadness stirred in his chest as the little bird looked back to him, confused.
Suddenly, a chirp rang out in the distance. A large dove descended onto a nearby tree, calling out to Jack Jr. The little bird perked up, its head swivelling to eye the larger bird.
“I think that’s its mother,” Jack’s mom said softly. “It’s time to let it go, Jack.”
“Alright,” Jack sighed. With one hand, he gently lifted the small dove to the sky. Jack Jr. gave him one last remorseful look before taking off, soaring to join its brethren and leaving a little boy with his mother to watch in silence.

Delve
Summary – Level 1: Delve is an isekai litrpg that follows an average guy who just happened to wake up in a forest one day. He wasn’t summoned to defeat the demon lord or to save the world or anything like that, at least as far as he can tell. The only creature there to greet him was a regular old squirrel. Soon enough, he meets other people, only to discover that he can’t speak the language, and that not everybody immediately trusts random pajama-wearing strangers they met in the middle of the wilderness. Things generally go downhill from there, at least until the blue boxes start appearing. Delve is a story about finding your way in a new, strange, and dangerous world. It’s about avoiding death, figuring out what the heck is going on, and trying to make some friends along the way. It’s not about getting home, so much as finding a new one. Did I mention that there will be math? Summary – Level 2: Okay, but what are you in for, really? Well, this story is supposed to be realistic, or at least, as realistic as a fantasy litrpg can be. The main character doesn’t instantly become an all-powerful god and murder-hobo his way across the universe. Delve is, at its heart, a progression fantasy, but that progression is meant to feel earned. The numbers in this story actually mean something. Everything is calculated, and if you find a rounding error, I expect you to tell me about it. That said, if math isn’t your cup of tea, there is plenty more that the story has to offer. Characters are meant to feel real, and progression isn’t only about personal power; it’s also about allies, connections, and above all, knowledge. Figuring out how the system works is a significant theme. ... What, you want more details? Okay, fine, but this is going to get a bit spoiler-y. Are you sure? Yes! Really sure? I mean, this summary is practically half as long as the first chap– Now! Okay, okay! The main character becomes a magic user, but he takes a route that is not very popular in adventurer culture, namely that of a support. There is a full magic system with various spells, skills, and abilities, but our MC decides that aura magic is the way to go, and that the only stat worth investing in is mana regeneration. Most people at the Adventurer’s Guild think that this makes him a bit of a dumbass, but he’s playing the long game. We’ll see how that works out for him, won’t we? Because of his build, the MC levels up fast, at least compared to normal people. There are no cheats, though, and he is limited in other ways. There are some clear and pretty obvious downsides to his build. That’s what makes it fun, no? Morals? Our MC has them. Again, we’ll see how that works out for him. Realism, remember? Would you be okay with killing someone and looting their body? I sure hope not. POV? The focus is on the main character, but there will be occasional varying perspectives from people around him, or involved in the events related to the main plot. It isn’t going to jump all over the place. Tech is standard medieval stasis. No smartphones, but the MC does have a technical background. Computers and their programming might be involved. There might even be a bit of uplifting down the road, who knows? Anyway, it isn’t the focus. He isn’t going to invent the gun in chapter 1 and change the face of warfare. Romance is not a major focus. Friendships are more the name of the game, though there will be some characters in romantic relationships. There is exploration, though not as much of the geographical nature as you might expect. It is more about exploration of the system and the culture. The pace is slow and detailed, sometimes verging on slice-of-life. The action is meant to be realistic and grounded in the numbers, and it is intended to have meaning beyond simply punching things until they stop moving. The general tone of the story is grey, and some parts can get quite dark. People die. Sometimes, people with names, but not anywhere near GoT level. There is plenty of light, too, though, to balance the darkness. The world is dangerous, but overcoming that danger is why we’re all here, isn’t it? Anyway, if you’ve made it this far through the summary, you clearly like words. I hope you enjoy the story! Cover by Miha Brumec Summary Updated: 2020-06-14

Infracto Animo
Pain. Lies. Betrayal. Deceit. Struggles. Sufferings. Humans are an Embodiment of Sin. They Lie, Cheat, Steal, Kill, Threaten, Rape, Betray, and Blackmail. All of this in order to sate their Greed, their Lust, their Envy, their Wrath, their Laziness, their Gluttony and their Pride. As such, Humans go to incredible lengths to achieve their goals. This reaches the point where it can be called "Inhumane". But if Humans are an Embodiment of Sin, is there really such a thing called "Inhumane"? They say "God created us all equal." and "We are equal in God's eyes." yet why are there many people who are poor, sickly and deformed. Did they do something to be punished as such? Even before they were born? Is there really such a thing called "Equality"? Is there really such a thing called "Peace"? Is there really such a thing called "God"? This is a story about the pain, struggles and sufferings of a man bound in a loop of never ending hatred and betrayal. Will he break the loop and end his ordeals? Or will he accept his fate and accept the loop? Light and Dark; Good and Bad; Angels and Demons; Abyss or Utopia. What will the man choose? Succumb to Darkness or reach out towards the Light. Now his story begins... This story is pretty grim and depressing with vivid violence (gore on the later part). Sexual content is included but I don't plan on making this an ero-novel so it will just involve rape and (not-so)normal intercourse. MC starts normal and simple then turns anti-hero but... well, let's just say he won't stay that way but he also won't be a "good guy". Just a HEADS UP, I am not into satanism or cults or anti-christ but some themes and dialogues here are related to demons and stuff like that so to those who will read this, YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED. This story is a fictional novel by which is created by the author's own words and thoughts. Any person, circumstances or happenings that are written here is purely fictional and does not relate to anything that might coincide with the plot settings and characters of this story. This story is the manifestation of the author's (my) own understanding of pain, deceit, struggles, betrayal and suffering but it does not represent the author's (my) own experiences in life.

Tales of The Heroic Kingdoms
Yushin gave up gaming and focused solely on work. With life changing news, he finds solace in the recently released VRMMO "Tales of The Heroic Kingdoms". The game promised to be a new highlight to a stale MMO age. The golden age of MMO’s had long past. They became extremely repetitive and boring, just grind for gear and rush raids template that never seemed to go anywhere. That, combined with micro-transactions, almost ruined modern games. Kingdom Corp promised to change this, and expectations were high. Will Yushin be able to leave his mark in time and become one of the top players of his era?

A World With or Without Aliens
Nothing matters. It's not my opinion, it's a scientific fact. This is neither good nor bad, it just... is. I watched my entire country burn, fried on a patriotic pan after some jerk fired a bunch of nukes at the docile fleet of alien ships hovering over us. Who gave this moron such power? I don't know. Everyone involved is most likely dead by now. As for me, I can't die. I feel pain like a normal person would (I think), but no matter how terrible the conditions, I will never die or pass out. Fortunately, a lot of alien technology survived its crash to Earth, so I get to spend some time playing with it until Mr. Author gets bored and decides to screw up my life. Beware, this has a "harem" tag. If you haven't figured it out yet, I'm the main character and am therefore subject to this novel's timeline. While this bars me from the sweet ignorance of Chapter 1's me, it does have other perks... for example, I can tell you that heroine number one is personally responsible for kil-!? H-hey, back off! I'm your character, so if you didn't want me to be like this, then you should've written me differently! Randomguy here! In all seriousness, this novel is meant to explore the concept of nihilism as a post-apocalyptic/supernatural-scifi/satire told from a nihilistic introvert's first-person perspective. As you heard from my unsettled main character, each heroine is going to be a different type of horrifying socio/psychopath with dark motives and dangerous abilities (most of which are psychological). Why would I do something like this? Because I am, in reality, a nihilist who is often frustrated by weird things, like unrealistically dramatic stories, the industrialization of art (specifically music), and people who think swimming in brown creekwater for five hours is a "fun" activity. Don't get me wrong, neither me nor my character are depressed, we're just malcontents who make a lot of nerd references. I feel like the true essence of an "everything is worthless" perspective is lost on most pop-culture figures. The closest character I can think of at the moment is Rick from Rick and Morty, who is a drunk, angry nihilist that experienced tremendous loss. I, personally, find this belligerent state of mind to be very relatable, and have incorperated it into every chapter's introduction. Here, the main character talks directly to the reader (and me), shamelessly complaining about some semi-relevant facet of society, which probably doesn't make much sense... it's not really supposed to, though. These "angry nihilist" moments are just a peak into the main character's everyday existence, and also act as miniature rage-journals for me. It will sometimes take a subjectively 'positive' turn, but not very often. This is because reality isn't good or bad, "it just... is". I will eventually bring it full-circle to optimistic nihilism, since that seems to be a more practical way to live (and by "practical", I mean "doesn't create mental health issues"). It is, of course, a satire. I did this because most unnecessarily emotional moments or people usually make me feel kind of awkward, so I decided to mock them. That is, I plan to mock the characteristics about them I don't like in characters based solely off said characteristics. Thanks for reading, and I hope you enjoy my story!
