《RE: Wisp of the Elves》Chapter 2.2 - Spending the Cash

You wouldn’t guess it, but on our world, we have it way too easy.
We just walk into the store, take a look, and buy whatever looks nice.
But dungeons?
Have you got any idea how hard they have it?
I have to decide on my purchase before I see even an inch of the goods.
Dungeon menu Before being able to use your dungeon abilities, you have to decide on the first race of your creatures. See a list, based on your identity and environment, below: 1. Wisps A race of magical creatures with fast growing potential and strong against magical enemies. Lacks proper building system. Below-average maximum level limit. 2. Forest creatures A mix of forest animals and monsters. Strong combat potential. Lacks proper magic system and other benefits of having one race. 3. Ents A race of slow, but deadly creatures. Easy to sustain race growth. Low attack potential. 4. Elves A race with superior potential. Due to your level being too low, their initial understanding of the world and their culture would be limited.
If this was a strategy game, I would decide depending on their characteristics.
But having my life tied to a one shimmering light - the wisp - made me think about who would be most compatible with me.
First off, I threw away the choice of forest animals.
While it sounds nice to have birds as scouts, oversized spiders as vanguard, bears as warriors and poisonous wasps as assasins, anyone would spot me as the first strange thing to watch our for.
And it would be over.
I also crossed out from the list the ents.
The reason is that I want to explore the world a little, plus being bound to one forest almost forever doesn’t sound too safe.
So I was left with the wisps and elves.

And here is my dilemma...
Are the wisps valuable for anything, or not?
Do magicians all over the world use them for their experiments, or things like that?
I definitely don’t want to put an advertisement, like:
“A group of your favorite magical wisps. Come, take few, and sprinkle them into your elixirs to get a younger visage!”
No, I have to be able to move fast, hide my existence, and talk it out with other races.
So elves it is.
I just hope they won’t be too dumb due to their “lack of understanding”.

The Eagle's Flight
The king is dead; his heir is too young to assume the throne. Jarl Vale wants to become Lord Protector, spurred by his ambitious brother Konstans. Jarl Isarn likewise seeks this power; he is aided – or thwarted – by the return of his brother, the knight and war hero Athelstan, whose squire, Brand, hopes to restore his family’s fortunes, cost what it may. Through all of this, an enigmatic traveller makes plans with jarls, scribes, and priests for his own purpose. Abroad, powerful forces sense division in the realms of Adalmearc and make their own plans. It is only a matter of time before schemes clash, plots collide, and conflict erupts. War is on the horizon. Story updates every Wednesday. The first, second and third book can be downloaded as ebooks from my site, where a map of the world or of Middanhal can be viewed. The site also contains other background information such as history of the realms, pantheon and religion, calendar etc.

Collective Thinking
Dyna Graves grew up thinking she was special. An exception to the average. Not necessarily above her peers, but simply outside their context. However, toward the end of her high school life, she started to realize that nobody was really special. At least not in any fantastical way. Just as she started trying to figure out what she wanted to do with the rest of her life, she got an invitation. A psychic institute scoped her out, realized her psychic potential, and asked if she would undergo psionic training at the Carroll Institute. Almost immediately, Dyna realized that she wasn’t quite up to the same level as many of her peers. Surrounded by clairvoyants and mind readers displaying obvious abilities made her own lack of ability all the more apparent. That was, up until the researchers and scientists of the facility realized that there was a bit more to Dyna Graves than met the eye. After an explosive incident during what should have been a routine experiment, Dyna quickly found herself wrapped up in a world of cutthroat espionage. The story can also be viewed on my website, https://www.towercurator.com/collective-thinking/. Cover art by Zoern.
