《RE: Wisp of the Elves》Chapter 3.1 - Their Level of 'Understanding'

The great thing about elven things is that they are aligned with the nature.
You probably know that already, but it got real practical benefits for me.
It justifies the price tag of the elven hammock.
You put it on the trees, wait a few minutes, and then it will glue itself to the wood.
In fact, putting the hammock up was the first combat experience for my archer.
It went like this:
“Aimon, use the rope to climb a tree, and then put up the hammock.”
And so he went.
He took a look, and put the hammock around one branch of the tree.
So it was split in half.
Like when you dry clothes.
“Aimon, arrange the hammock so its both ends touch a different branch.”
Again, he did it.
And it was huge.
He did not think of stretching the hammock.
No, he just arranged it, like a rope.
“Aimon, stretch…”
It turns out I am a very patient teacher.
Shame I had not been working as one back then.
After another 3 attempts, with the last being a success, we even got a message:
You imparted to the elves the understanding of how to arrange their hammocks. They can now understand and further keep improving this particular knowledge on their own. You future creatures of this race (elves) will be born with this knowledge. 5 dungeon points awarded.
And I got proud, it was like raising a child.
Though I was never a father.
Sigh…
I would probably regret his lack of common sense, or ‘understanding’, as the dungeon menu put it, be it not for the fact that he was also my only source of entertainment. And as he is my own minion, I just do believe he can do it!
It is manageable actually.

We got food with me luring rabbits by scaring them into his vicinity and then him shooting them.
And of course, he can eat the forest herbs, true.
But he is now in the role of having to taste them, one by one, to make the ‘understanding’ of his race more profound.
So one time he had this green face.
Another time he looked like he may throw up at any moment.
And then another time he threw up a lot.
Let’s not even speak about the other experience we got this way.
And so we would test one herb a day, eat the known, harmless for breakfast and lunch, and then we would hunt a small animal for the dinner.
After around three days of this kind of lifestyle, with him also practicing archery and me buying new arrows, we got to a breakthrough.
Aimon acquired . By getting through this bottleneck, all future will be born with this level of archery (up to level 6). Until they will be born with , they will have heightened speed of learning. 30 dungeon points awarded.
Having 780 points at this time, I used this moment to pause and contemplate about my next steps.
It seems to me that I could buy a scholar, maybe.
Since I am getting a significant amount of points by my elves learning new things.
And mainly, I have no idea how to teach Aimon how to actually hunt.
How to be a proper scout.
How to arrange traps.
I am not like those reincarnated MCs who know all those things, plus how to create a gun, or even a PC within one day.
In the end, I bought a scholar (-550), one rope (-40), one hammock (-40), outfit (-40), dagger (-50) and after one hour of waiting and that harvest also one cloak (-70).
I got a man, again.
And be it his long, grey hair, or that facial expression, he sure does look like a someone who knows things.

A D&D Gamer in Garweeze Wurld
He doesn't know how he got here, and while the trappings are familiar, he doesn't actually know where he is, either. From the perspective of those around him, Duromar is a half-ogre barbarian, an uncivilized brute by any standard you care to use. But from his perspective, he's a character created in a gaming system. From either one, he must live within the rules of that system. This is the story of a gamer who ends up in a game that's just a bit off from what he knows. ---- I wanted to write something a little bit old-school. Most of the LitRPG I've found seems to be based on computer RPG styled stories. Progression through levels is fast, and depending on the game, skills and even attributes can be trained with or without class levels. This wasn't true with the older pen and paper games, and that's the style of leveling I wanted to write.
