《Bounty Cats》Book Two: Chapter 18

Luna turned toward the pig. “Where are our guns?”
Corg pointed his finger at a metal chest near the corner. "In there."
Luna smiled and approached the chest. She grabbed her gun and handed the other one to her partner. "Don't use explosives. We could collapse the tunnel on our asses."
Rei nodded. "Gwonli!"
Of course, Luna preferred to blow things up to get the job done quicker. But if she gets any Nocturnal killed, the tribe wouldn't help her navigate the sewers. And she couldn't afford a body replacement if the entire tunnel ceiling falls flat on top of her. Or worse, kill her.
"Please help my people out there!" Corg demanded. "We will stay here!"
Luba nodded and rushed through the open flap. She stopped when many civilians raced past her, screaming for their lives.
Rei almost ran into the mop, but Luna grabbed her and pulled her back.
"Ouch! Hey!" Rei complained, rubbing her back. "You dug your claws into me!"
Luna snarled. "Then look before you run, kitty. You almost got your ass trampled."
Rei gazed at the crowd, widening her eyes. "Sibnyeon gamsuhaessda!"
After the street cleared, gunshots popped from where the crowd retreated from. Screams and a roaring sound stirred from the direction too.
"That must be slimy!" Luna switched her round to ice. "Follow me!"
She sprinted past the houses, carts, fire barrels, and she stopped behind three dog-men guards, firing their laser rifles at something. She switched her vision to x-ray to get a better look.
Nothing, and the shots were just hitting the dark water.
"What the hell are you shooting at?" Luna shouted.
"Something burst through the gate and attacked the guards!" The dog answered. "It is in the water!"

"No, it's not! You are missing it!"
The guards stopped and stared at her. Good thing they were smart enough to listen to her, no matter who she is.
Something splashed behind the crates, making Rei jumped in fright.
“Quiet! Huddle back to back!” Luna whispered.
The group faced the water as they stood close to each other, all aiming their weapons down. Everything turned quiet, except tiny water drops dripping onto the ground behind the houses.
It seemed the entire sewer village turned into a ghost town after the moment the creature infiltrated it. Where ever the Nocturnal people withdrew to, it should keep them safe from danger.
Luna’s x-ray vision was still active, but she clearly couldn’t see the blob anywhere. How could it be hiding from her sight if she could see through anything?
“I can’t see it,” Rei whispered.
“No shit! Are you using your x-ray vision?” Luna asked, keeping her voice low as possible.
“Ye ye.”
Luna glanced around, making sure the blob wasn’t hiding anywhere else besides the water. It could be lurking in a house, inside a crate, or around the torch barrels. But still nothing.
Where the hell are you? Luna changed her vision from x-ray to night vision to thermal, and back to normal. Still, she couldn’t see it. “I think it-”
One guard screamed and fell into the water.
Luna spun around as something dragged the guard through the water. His screaming turned to drowning before he vanished.
Luna’s bones turned cold. “We better get the hell out of the water.”
