《Thundering Dragon》Chapter 6: You broke my travel plan

Floating Planet Yin Long, Lower Half just below the Waterfall Boundary
"Hey! Wake up!" Wenrou hearing this slightly woke up, he could feel light sting building up on his cheeks unable to comprehend the situation at all. Right now, all he could do was to sit up and look around to only discover a young girl, her hand in a eager manner ready to slap him again, if he never woke up. He sucked in a cold breath the moment he saw her. She was pretty, to pretty! And so close to him! He forgot about his burning cheeks. He moved his head back a little to create distance between him and her.
Looking at her he didn't understand, but he continued to stare blankly at her, unable to look away. She had silvery blonde hair, deep green jade like eyes and pink lips and healthy pink skin, with a small nose, and ears hidden behind her long smooth hair. She looked a little younger than him but she looked much stronger, she was drying her hair with a towel while speaking to Wenrou.
"Hey why did you jump down the waterfall? Why did you have to jump down the moment I was about to make a breakthrough?" Her voice was domineering, she was looking up at the heavens while saying this like the heavens had played an ugly joke on her. She was asking him why he jumped, but she didn't care about why he jumped, she was annoyed that his body collided with hers in the water whilst she almost made a breakthrough.
She looked at him with beady eyes, not able to understand this boy. If not for her he would have died, can a boy really be so weak? She didn't understand but she asked again "so why did you jump?" seemingly a little more interested, this was the first time she seen anybody jump down this waterfall, not even grown men would dare this, let alone a boy. Yet this boy had?
Wenrou looked down at his hands, he had been fixated on her this whole time, he took a gulp, slightly shook his head to regain his composure and looked back and said whilst he was shivering from the cold "I was escaping from something" the girl looked like she understood. Of course Wenrou couldn't tell but it seemed she was familiar with the concept "escaping".
The girl crossed her arms and legs, then sat on her bottom, slowly opened her eyes wide and spoke whilst releasing her aura "So! How will you repay me! You broke my concentration when I almost made a breakthrough, this is no small thing what will you do repay me?"
Wenrou didn't understand, she was younger but had already begun her Qi training? She almost made a breakthrough before he crashed into her? To him this concept was something he could never understand almost making a breakthrough would be important to any cultivator, regardless of stage.
Wenrou unknowing what to do, just shrugged his shoulders he didn't understand nor completely believe her about what she just said to him. He just laid back down, exhausted and wet, he took of his clothes one by one, the girls eyes grew wider she didn't understand why he was taking his clothes off.

"...!!"
"Was this how he was going to repay me!?" Is all she could think, her eyes wide, her breath rugged her heart panting abnormally fast!
Wenrou didn't care about her, even if he broke her concentration shes still just a child. This was his new fate, he wanted to get dry, then get moving he wasn't shy at all at this moment. i#If she wanted to watch him she could, he just wouldn't care.
The girls face growing redder, she turned her head slightly her eyes had a sudden fierce glint, she didn't understand this boy at all, they was talking one a moment ago, next he started stripping? Wheres is this boys etiquette? Stripping in front of a girl, does he have no shame?
She shouted in a loud voice without looking back towards Wenrous "Grandpa some boy is getting naked to repay me"
Wenrou hearing this gave a dry cough he replied in a fast fashion "Don't think of yourself to highly, I am just taking these wet clothes of so I can get dry. I will be gone soon."
"Ri my dear, has the boy woken up?" A voice sounding happy, and joyful sounded out.
She looked a little angrier it seemed her grandpa didn't take her words seriously! She gave a cold "Hmph" and repeated her words louder "Grandpa, this boy is shameless he is already naked quick! Quick, come here and look at this boy!"
An old man, popped his head out from where it could be seen, his body hidden behind a tree but there was a bright glow where his body was hidden, seemed they had setup camp here and was preparing to spend the night. He had good vision, and was able to quickly see Wenrou so relaxed laying down completely naked! Naked in front of his daughter!?
The old man jumped out, Wenrou raised his head to see a stomping hunched back man walking to him, he had a straw hat, and a piece of straw in his mouth, he had a mustache that had almost dried up and looked prickly. He had a big forehead, with three moles around his right eye, his nose was hooked and skinny. He held both his hands behind his back and was wearing a cotton beige robe. The robes were simple and comfortable, he enjoyed wearing these the most and sandals. His disgusting toe nails sticking out, but they seemed to fit with his appearance and compared to his other body parts didn't look so bad.
Wenrou seeing this old man, just looked confused. He said whilst looking innocent "Mister, your granddaughter is delusional I just removed the clothes because I am wet. She wanted me to repay her, I didn't know how, but if she enjoys looking at me then that can be considered repayment, since all I have is my body and dreams!"
His voice came out unrestrained and not polite at all. The old man seeing this just laughed "Haha, this boy is funny come boy, why don't you join us for dinner, let us escort you to the Xia Ban city. We'll get you dry clothes as well, how does that sound?" His voice was gentle and comforting, Wenrou hearing this could only oblige.

Few hours later--
The camp fire had been blazing for hours now, and lit up the surrounding area it provided the camp with a warm heat, the three was sitting around the fire on wooden logs the old man procured. It seemed Wenrou couldn't find a comfortable position, always fidgeting, they each held a warm wooden bowl. The old man had a massive smile on his face from ear to ear, when people ate his food he would feel joy this was a sort of profession he liked to always test and try different cuisines, he would enjoy cooking sort of a hobby for him.
Wenrou was chugging bowl after bowl, some food would spill onto his cheek and his clothes, but he wouldn't care he hadn't eat in a few days. This food was to good! He shouted out between chugging bowls "How can this food be so good, old man, you must have added something special to it!"
The old mans and the young girls appetite was effected by this image, it seemed the more Wenrou ate, the more their eyes was making them feel full from watching him, when they looked back down at their own bowls, they couldn't eat this boy was eating to fast and eager! The old man said "Ri this boy must have went through on ordeal, it is clear he hasn't ate for so long, why don't you make friends with him?"
She looked back up dissatisfied "He is a savage, look at the method he is eating why would I want to make friends with such a disgusting creature" and with a short "Hmph" she looked the other way, trying to eat her food with a small spoon.
The old man could only heave a sigh inwardly and thought to himself "This girl, it's hard for her to open her heart to anybody."
He turned to look at Wenrou and asked him in a sharp manner "So why did you jump down the waterfall? Why would you come to the lower half when the upper half of the planet has better conditions to live?"
Wenrou was silent he didn't know how to answer he looked back at the old man, a cold awkward silence began creeping up, before it lasted any longer the old man waved with his right hand in a shaking manner "Don't worry about it. By the way my name is Baohu, and this young lady is Ri my grand daughter. What is your name young man?"
"Wenrou" He replied without delay and continued chugging with his eyes fixated on the old man.
Baohu asked Wenrou in a concerned manner "What will you do now now that you are here, if you wish to go back to the upper half I can help you, if you like that is."
Wenrou stopped chugging and looked to the ground briefly before looking back at Baohu, placing the bowl on the log, both his hands had clenched. He replied while he gnashed his teeth "I can't go back. There is nothing for me to go back to!"
The girl of to side looking away, she was looking away but she was concentrated on the conversation between her Grandpa and Wenrou. Hearing Wenrous response she looked back, she could see his rage in his eyes and fists, she didn't understand but her voice came out, it seemed her mouth moved without her command, she blurted out without thinking "Why don't you join us?"
Silence!
Baohu looked at her, had she ever asked anybody to travel with us? "Ri, are you sure?" asking like what she said before, was just a joke or fake sound.
She looked at her grandpa with conviction "He has to repay me anyway, he can just follow till I figure out what!"
Wenrou looked annoyed he quickly rebutted her "I don't owe you anything, and I was planning to let the stream carry me down to the city, but now I am stuck here to far away from the city. You say I broke your concentration, you broke my travel plan!" He was shameless, he was lucky to have just survived! But he wouldn't be chained to another person like before. Shifting his shameless gaze he looked into another direction.
The girl had a red face, she had never asked anybody to accompany them before but the first one had rejected her! She didn't understand this little boy at all, her body felt extremely hot her blood pumping, her heart restless, what was this feeling?
Baohu looked confused, he moved to sit next to Wenrou and said in a gentle manner "Boy don't worry. You won't owe us anything, we travel selling monster carcasses and actually need an extra hand to help carry some. I will provide you with a place to sleep and a school to go with Ri. We work during the night, and you kids will study during the day. How does that sound?"
Wenrou didn't understand, this was to good of a treatment for a boy they just recently met. He didn't know what the old man was thinking giving him a treatment like this, but he didn't know this was the first time Ri had actually decided to help a random person, and a boy of her age maybe this would help her open up to somebody?
He was a gentle old man, he wouldn't leave him out here regardless of Wenrous answer, at least he would help him to the city, then he could leave if he wished to.
Wenrou replied in non confident manner "I guess, I can..?"

Blightbane
Miscellaneous Notes: - I want to see about making a crude map of Shroud to help readers. - I also want to get back to writing Coalescence updates. Schedule Notes: - None for now, updates when I can. [ Thank you for your patience and support as I improve my writing and storytelling abilities. I'm also using this story to better develop lore that extends far beyond it. ] Thanks to another exceptionally talented artist, Hiroeth, Blightbane now has an official cover! Vera was alone again. “You’re completely unprepared. Never before has sending one of you off made me feel quite so guilty.” Whenever she found herself in doubt, she would weigh her actions against the guiding principles of the one whom she revered. “When you don’t know the rules of the game, start making them up. When you are constrained by unfavorable conditions, inject a little chaos.” It was the supplementary message that concerned Vera the most. It was difficult to follow because it was intentionally vague and mired in subjectivity. “How can I enjoy myself when you look so tormented? Are we in danger?” Vera fell silent. An experiment is taking place on a planetary scale. Across the surface of the planet, a phenomenon referred to as "Blight" is spreading. Festering regions defended by fierce creatures called “blightbeasts” taint the surface, warping the land and proliferating unceasingly. Among the sentient creatures of the planet, it is the Blightbane Guild’s responsibility to stem the tide. They endeavor to cleanse the land in a struggle of attrition, but they are losing ground. A young man named Caim has been uprooted from his former life and transported to The Shrouded Theocracy, an isolationist nation with fanatical policies. He must struggle to survive with only an unfamiliar strain of magic to aid him. There is a secret to this magic. One he knows very little about. He intends to explore just what makes this magic special. On the far border of the theocracy, a mage scientist named Inis discovers a revolutionary new way to infuse strength from defeated blightbeasts. Using herself as a test subject, this process allows her to grasp magical concepts previously thought beyond her reach. Though she tries to document any side effects that arise, something escapes her awareness. She is playing with a dangerous force that will claim her most treasured asset if she isn't careful. Everyone and everything on the planet is a part of the experiment. The experiment is a lie.

Lesser Evil
In a perfect world, an alcoholic, hedonistic, mentally abusive individual like Audry Forge would never coincide with his attempts to stop the extinction of life. But there is no perfect world. There is no other person. Only the lesser of evils. Participant of the Royal Road Writathon challenge - 55k words Author's Note: This is story has been the easiest to write in my time of writing. I thoroughly enjoy it! You may not understand the premise in the first few chapters but need not worry buddy, I've been working ahead. Things will start rolling! I hope you enjoy it. Give me feedback and make sure to share it around! Other Info: Normally I wouldn't put any warnings but this story will be going down a pretty dark path (based on irl experiences) fairly early on. There will not be any overtly sexual content this early but some themes are suggestive. There is profanity. There are references to drugs and alcohol. There are dramatic relationships that I'm trying to base off of real life. There is more of a focus on characters. There will be unpleasant scenes in regards to death, while others will be brushed over. There will also be a fair amount of pop culture references too! Give it a try. You might like my form of storytelling!

Twoen
The struggle for an interesting game has been the story of my life for quite some time. Every game I find is either too easy, not interesting or too short. Luckily, my two brothers who match my level of skill, albeit in different areas, tend to spice things up. When I look at my older brother I have no idea how he gets anything done when he's such an idiot. Still it doesn't detract from my respect for him as a gamer, though maybe a little. When I look at my younger brother I marvel at the monster that my older brother and I created. Deadliness, craftiness and quiet, both in what he does and how he is. When it's just us three we tend to destory everything in our path. So normally we tend to compete rather than team. Although that isn't to say we're just good as individuals. When we work together our effectiveness multiplies rather than lowering. Well enough about us dorks. Anyway a new VR game came out, apparently in development for quite some time. Of course my older brother decided to drive out and buy three copies. What would this one be missing? Difficulty? Depth? Length? In any case I plan to reach the top before my brothers do. It was a competition after all. Twoen had all three things I normally yearn for in spades. Something I did not foresee. A keeper
