《Instrumental》60 - Rainbow unicorns

On Saturday there was a definite feeling of celebration, Pete was running the pizza oven, chatting with Susan and Heather whilst the other girls chatted inside.
Heather was drinking a beer which Pete had offered her, knowing she was now eighteen. “So, to friends?” he said, raising his glass.
“To friends!” the two girls toasted. “And to cool flats like they had in friends!” Heather added.
“Yeah, thanks Pete. I promise we won't abuse your trust. It was super cool you doing that for Anne.” Susan said with a smile.
“Hey, we were the ones insisting she stay local. I’m just amazed her friends all did too.”
“You know Anne is the most mature and responsible one of all our friends? Except perhaps Jo.” Susan asked, “I’m pretty sure she would have managed to survive anywhere.”
“Well, now we won't have to worry if that would have been the case.” He said with a smile, “And even better, you can all still come and have movie nights and pizza here once a month!”
Heather was sent away again with a cooked pizza and Susan turned to Pete. “You know, I'm glad our okay with me and Jo being an item. Anne says if it had been a boy I was seeing there would be no way I would be allowed a sleepover with him.”
Pete frowned, “Yeah, I don't know, it's different. But I do trust you Susan, and I really like Jo which helps a lot.”
“So if it were Abby I was seeing?” she joked.
“Oh hell no! It would be six feet of separation at all times!” he laughed.
“I don’t think she’s so bad.” Susan said contemplatively, “And you must trust her a fair bit, allowing her to flat with Anne.”

“Well, yes. She’s not so bad. She was a bad influence sometimes when they were growing up though. I think she’s matured, and it's not like I see her out chasing boys, and I doubt she will keep Anne up all night drinking.” he admitted.
“Yes, I certainly have never seen her chasing the boys!” Susan laughed.
It was far later than normal when the girls moved upstairs, Heather had left her backpack in Anne’s room due to the three bottles of sparkling wine it contained and she was trying to climb the ladder one handed and not clink the bottles together.
When she got to the top and unloaded the bag Kelly saw the bottles and exclaimed “Wine! Can I have some?”
Heather looked to Anne for confirmation.
“She’s thirteen Heather!” Anne proclaimed.
“One glass wouldn’t hurt.” Heather assured her.
Anne gave her a death glare whilst Kelly was making puppy dog eyes. “Half a glass,” She relented, “and you sip it!”
“You thought we would get into trouble for drinking? If mum saw us giving Kelly wine we would be done for!” Anne assured them.
They settled in to watch the movie, Abby and Anne enjoying being able to snuggle up together without having to hide their relationship.
“Man, I wish I had someone to cuddle with!” Mae complained, seeing the two couples.
“You can cuddle me!” Kelly told her.
“Not quite the same but good enough.” Mae accepted and she snuggled in beside Kelly.
Abby couldn't understand why but the girls all seemed to enjoy the movie. She hated it, cringing all the way through. She also didn't notice Mae sneaking more wine into Kelly’s glass.
It was already fairly late when the film ended but people were getting used to the double features so Anne put on Conan the Barbarian. Kelly was already asleep on Mae’s shoulder.

Mae and Heather were the only ones who seemed to be drinking, Abby and Anne had a couple of glasses each but Heather seemed to be well in her cups, making lewd comments about Arnold Schwarzenegger and getting quite loud.
“Heather, remember the conversation about being quiet and not letting my parents know we were drinking?” Anne asked her tactfully.
“Yeah! Duh!” Heather said loudly.
“Well, at the moment you are being quite loud...you know… the opposite of quiet?”
“Oh!” Heather said, nodding sagely, “Shhhhhhhhhh.” she winked.
Kelly took that moment to wake, “Mmm, I love you Mae. I wish you were a lesbian so I could kiss you.”
Anne looked round, “Oh for fuck sake! Mae, have you been feeding Kelly wine?” Mae looked sheepish. “Well, drunk Kelly is your responsibility. No more wine. For anyone!”
She took the wine bottles away and realised there was only a glass remaining in the last bottle. “Okay, scratch that, Abby and I will finish the wine.”
“Don't kiss my sister!” Anne hissed at Mae who apparently was locking tongues with the thirteen year old. “Right, that's it, Kelly, over there, Mae, the other side of the room.”
“Oh come on, it was only a bit of fun, we weren't serious!” Mae complained, moving away.
“I think I preferred the quiet Mae, I think Lucia is corrupting you.” Anne lamented.
Susan and Jo were smiling, not lifting a hand to help.
Fortunately there were no further drunken shenanigans before the end of the film and Heather, Mae, Jenny and Kelly were all fast asleep by the end of the movie. Heather was snoring quite loudly.
“Sorry guys,” Anne whispered, “You can use my bed if you like. I would offer Kelly’s but her room is disgusting.”
They all snuck downstairs, brushing their teeth in the bathroom. “Next time, we are not doing this in my parents house!” Anne said emphatically.
Susan and Jo disappeared into Anne’s bedroom to avoid the snoring and Anne looked at Abby. “We could sleep on the couch?”
“Hey, I’m up for using Kelly’s room, I don't care if it's a tip.”
“It's not just a tip, it smells weird.” Anne said, holding her nose.
“Yeah, but it's a real bed. Come on, let's just use it.” Anne relented and they slipped into Kelly's room. It wasn't actually as bad as the last time Anne had been in it. It was still a tip, in fact they had to move numerous things off the bed just so they could get in, but it didn't smell too bad.
They slipped under the rainbow unicorn covers and Abby sniggered, “You know, that's us? Apparently they call lesbians who realise they are gay and have never slept with a man a unicorn?”
“What, that’s dumb.” Anne replied. “Anyway, I think they would more accurately call us virgins! Its not like we’ve had sex.”
“We could resolve that issue, you know.” Abby said, snuggling her neck.
They didn’t but they got pretty darned close.
