《The Demon Child - Awakening》Chapter 16 - Portal

I began to train with Alicia more often, sometime in the morning, and most of it at night. My blood ice ability became so overpowering that I was able to activate it in twenty seconds, still not short enough to use in a fight. She told me that it also wouldn't work on everyone, only most people, so I began to tread even more carefully.
As the last class finished, I packed my things and walked out of the classroom, waiting to meet up with the girl. I was walking past the classrooms when Luke came out of his class and head-locked me, which was unlike him.
"Whatcha up to Dyestral?" Luke laughed.
To make Luke jealous, I decided to lie.
"I got a love letter, and I'm going behind the school to see who it is," I said while smirking at Luke.
"You liar!" He yelled. "Is Jododam ok with this, he will kill you if you don't show up,"
"Yes, I did check with Jododam," I replied. "There are cabins throughout the school which are empty; these are precautions if one of us has to stay here for the night, or for the ones who are here from other lands,"
"Whatever, see you when I see you," Luke walked away.
"Yeah yeah, see you later."
I kept walking until I was behind the school, and I looked around, thinking of the three areas that she could be. The storeroom, the field, or the garden, those were the three places where she could be. I discarded the track straight away, due to seeing that the girl was not there with my elf eyes. I also abandoned the storeroom due to it being locked and having no way in.
I then went on a stroll in the garden, sniffing the roses, look at the lake there, until I saw a rusty shed behind some bushes. I got closer, noticing that it was hotter more intimate to the shed, and I began to sweat. Noticing the sweat, I took a deep breath and cooled my body. I kept walking towards the hut before a hand grasped my shoulder and turned me around. The girl was right in front of me,

"It seems that you found your way here, quite fast," The girl said.
"You said behind the school, so this would be the only place I could meet up with you," I replied while shrugging my shoulders.
"Well, you are the first one who could defeat those two,"
"Well, I am lucky, aren't I?"
"Follow me."
The girl started to walk towards the shed, and I stood there watching. She stopped at the entrance and stood there, looking at the lock placed on the door. She raised her left arm and whispered something under her breath. The rusty metal of the bolt started to melt quickly. The heat was unbearable; I had to move back a few feet to keep me from using more source. After the metal was made into a magma mess, she went through the door.
"Are you coming?" She asked me, creating a flame in her right hand.
"...Y-yeah," I stuttered.
I followed the girl into the shed and was amazed at what I saw. The hut was larger on the inside than it was on the outside. But it wasn't filled with garden materials or fertiliser; instead, it was filled with boxes stacked on top of each other. The girl walked further into the room and began to talk.
"Come out; we have one." The girl yelled.
The four boxes opened, and four people came out. Two I didn't recognise, but the other two were the lackeys who had attacked me a week ago, and they both had an arm missing. One of the unknown people approached the girl and me, and he had black hair, pale white skin, and grey eyes, almost like a zombie.
"So Lucy, you think this guy is one of us?" The boy snorted at her.
"Well, he does have a tail Astar, I think that that's proof enough," She huffed back.
I was confused to find out the girl was able to see my tail, only Jododam and Rowan could see it, although she wasn't as powerful as Jododam, based off my first impression, she still scared me a little.
"How can you see my tail?" I asked the girl, walking forward.

"Because I'm a higher demon than you, that's why," The girl responded with, sticking her nose up in the air.
"But only Rowan and Jododam could see it, and Jododam is an Archdemon, so are you telling me that you on are on par with Jododam?" I smiled.
"Wait, you know Jododam!"
"Yeah, he works for the king, and you didn't even answer my question, so do,"
"No no no, I am not on par with Jododam's abilities," The girl and the rest of the group seemed terrified now just by the mention of his name.
"Good, so what do you want with me?"
"Our boss wants to recruit, so we have invaded schools and put up hideouts, we have also put this garden shed up as a portal to the storeroom,"
"So, we are in the storeroom right now?"
"Yes, that is correct, but it took a while, and now we have you, the first to arrive,"
"So, what are you going to do to me?"
"We need you to get you the camp,"
"Camp?"
The girl then pointed at the two lackeys and gave them an order.
"Asmo, Amo, get together,"
The two of them nodded as they turned to a black mud and fell to the floor, creating the puddle. It then reformed another person after a short wait. He was definitely larger than me, blond, and very hairy, but he was naked, so we all looked away.
"Seriously Abat, why did you forget to put some clothes on before you split," The other girl laughed at the new person, clapping her hands.
"Sorry, forgot to put on some clothes before I swapped," The new boy replied.
The boy then closed his eyes, and a black robe appeared around him.
"There that's better, now you all can look at me." The boy continued.
He then clapped his hands and one of the large wooden boxes to the left of me was destroyed, which revealed a narrow cave. I was shocked to see that the blond-haired boy was able to do that just by making a simple hand gesture. All of the group other than me began to walk towards the cave.
"You coming?" The other girl sang.
"Y-yeah," I stuttered.
As I walked through the cave, I could feel a cool breeze emitting from it, quite soothing for my likes. We all walked for about two minutes until the cave opened into a rocky room with an altar in the middle, the room had a small hole above, which explained where the breeze's origins were. I was then looking at the other people in the room, seeing that they were as clueless as me. I asked the girl who invited me what was wrong.
"What's wrong, Lucy?" I asked her.
"It should be here," She replied, biting her right thumbnail.
"What should?"
"You'll see,"
Everyone in the room started to put one source to the altar; I could feel the sources of fire, air, earth and an obfuscated source I didn't know yet. I followed soon after and put my ice source in as well, although it wasn't water, it was close enough for me.
"Well, well, I didn't have to ask you to do that," Lucy spoke to me.
"Hm, lucky guess," I replied.
After another ten seconds, Lucy yelled "Stop!" and everyone stopped putting their source into the altar. After another ten seconds, a bright red light appeared out of nowhere. I looked around to see that the group was jumping in.
I closed my eyes and jumped into the bright light as well. I didn't know how long it was until I touched the ground again, I had a hood over my head, and I couldn't see.
"Everyone he's awake!" The cheerful girl said to someone.
"Take the hood off, Xirax, let him see."
As the hood was taken off me, I was relieved that my vision had been returned. I got up to look at the mountain which I was on. I then tried to find the group who came here with me, and I was surprised by what laid in front of me. Instead of Lucy and the others, I saw, entirely different people.

A (Not So) Simple Fetch Quest
Oh great hero! The evil Demon Lord has once again arisen to terrorise our lands, and we have summoned you to save our people! No, we don't want you to fight the demon lord! Of course not; we're the good guys! What sort of good guys kidnap people from other worlds and force them to take part in wars that have nothing to do with them? That would just be plain evil! We'd be no better than the demons! Katie, after her summoning by an excessively loud mage suddenly takes an unexpected twist, is sent off on a simple fetch quest, with a promise that she'll be back home in five minutes at most. She doesn't even need to leave the building. Alas, when a goddess' blessing causes her wish for an actual adventure to be taken rather more literally than she expected, she finds herself lost in a dark cave, far away from the sword she was supposed to acquire and far too close to a population of giant bugs. Still, at least she wished her life wasn't in any danger. Among other things. Be careful what you wish for. You might just get it. This is a dark litRPG adventure, both in terms of Katie accidentally wishing all the lights out, and also in that she loses as often as she wins, often with horrific and disturbing consequences. Luckily, Katie isn’t the sort of person to let a mere grizzly death or two get her down, and is prepared to try, try and try again to get her hands on the holy sword and finally complete her ‘simple’ fetch quest. Or perhaps—with a few resistance skills under her nightie—she might even come to enjoy losing. Not that she’d ever consider forgoing revenge, even if she did. I’ve ticked all the content warning checkboxes for this one. There’s no explicit sexual content, but there are enough references to justify the warning. Profanity happens rarely, but Katie isn’t averse to swearing when she gets particularly angry. As for gore/trauma, it doesn’t get much worse than the first few chapters, but there will be occasional chapters that have extra content warnings.

Embrace the Blade
Born crippled, it was no surprise when James Ransom died young, but he was offered an opportunity - a mission: to go to a new world and become strong enough to kill the hidden boss behind the final boss. Now in a new world he must research and study the system to take advantage of it, find his strengths; form alliances and find party members to become strong enough to face the end. This story does use Multiple perspectives and tells stories that add to the MC's. I've been given this feedback enough that I feel the need to mention that growth (levels, skills, classes, etc.) is slow, intentionally so, but constant. Credit for the cover goes to a commission for KemptBones from DeviantArt for the cover. This book is a rewrite of the original Embrace the Blade. The timeline for this one is completely separate and you do not need to read the original to understand what is going on. If you want to check out the original you can find it here (just a warning that they are NOT good): ETB Drafts 1&2 If you came here from the original EtB, WELCOME!!

Life is Feudal
No OP stuff, status bars, levels or skills. This story is in favour of more realistic setting in a world of humans and various monsters. "Behind the mask of the assertive, resolute facade that employs ruthless routes at any given moment, lies the frail, anxious heart that were once but a puny human. Reviled and revered by many, none would ever know my true allegiance lies within myself, merely trying to survive this mess." Just the life of a grumpy man child living in a terrible piece of shit or a desolate state in which I call an alternate historical take on medieval Europe. Living as a peasant who is forced to take up arms to defend his own kin. This story grants an insightful take on the life of people living under constant danger, from vying nobles who commit atrocities in the name of justice, eager nations and barbarians aiming to take a piece of the bountiful land and mythical divine monsters who resembles a walking catastrophe in any possible way. [If you're easily offended by alternate-history religion and cultural practices, then you shouldn't read this.]
