《The Demon Child - Awakening》Chapter 38 - Weakness

I lengthened my chains and wrapped them around Lance's right wrist, I then shortened the chains and launched myself at Lance. My right foot made contact with his sword, allowing us to look each other straight in the eye. To my left, Sasha began hurling fireballs at me.
I released my chains from Lance's wrist and did a backflip in midair, sticking the landing as well. Sasha and Lance are a dangerous duo, as one of them could read minds. Before the battle continued, I removed my shirt, allowing me to summon three more chains.
Lance then came at me, but he just went through me. I quickly made my way towards Sasha, as I believed that she was the main threat. Lance's speed didn't come close to mine, so I had time to attack. I covered my fists in ice and lighting, trying to hit her, but she seemed to dodge them flawlessly.
Lance came from behind me with his rapier and pierced my right lung as well as Sasha. I looked at her face and saw that Lance's blade went right through her head, like how my soul ability worked. I used two chains on my back to fling Lance away from my back, and the other one to remove his rapier from my chest.
The wound healed before he could get up, I then froze Sasha in ice, which I kicked to jump away from her, damaging her in the process. Even as her fiance, I didn't know Sasha's soul ability. Lance's rapier went straight through her like my soul ability, but she dodged my attacks as she could've… read my mind.
I quickly realized and began to chuckle before starting a light conversation.
"So that's my fiance's soul ability, an ability that allows one to mimic another's?" I asked her.

"Correct Dyestral, but now it's only going to get harder from here on,"
"I know."
I smiled and rushed at Sasha, running straight through Lance. I knew she could read my mind, but that didn't matter. All five of my chains went right through her body, as expected. The next thing I did was make my chains freeze over with ice, now making Sasha throw up blood.
I made my fist untouchable like her body before punching her in the face, which hit. I removed my right-hand chain and looked for Lance, who was charging at me. He tried to dodge my chain attack, but he didn't realize that I planned that.
It was hard to pull off even for me, but if I can bury my thoughts underneath other movements or an internal monologue, Lance could not know my attacks.
My chain was now behind him, I hit his back hard, making Lance lose his balance. The chain then turned around and then curled around Lance's throat. I looked back as Sasha to see that she had stopped struggling, so I removed my chains before hurling Lance at her, putting both of them on the ground.
I jumped at Sasha, kicking her into the ground, before grabbing Lance again with one of my back chains. I looked at him before pummeling him into the floor. A stalactite erupted from the earth and pierced my left eye.
I jumped back and grasped my left eye, even for my level of regeneration, it was going to take a while. I made a dome out of ice, thoroughly channelling my ice source into it so that it wouldn't break that easily.
As I was focusing on the dome, I wrapped my chains around my body, before being hit by something. A white dagger pierced my dome, before disappearing it hit one of my chains and breaking it. The chain disappeared, and I began to scream, it was like being back in that torture chamber, but now it was worse. I looked to where the dagger hit my chain and noticed that everything after the link that was struck just disappeared.

The pain quickly went away, and my eye finally healed. I made lightning crackle through my body before suddenly crashing through my ice dome and subsiding my chain armour, now making them float around me like usual. Right in front of me, I saw Lance and Sasha battle-ready, with Lance's sword glowing a bright light.
Lance probably had developed a new source, the source of light, like my mother. A tear then rolled down my cheek, since my body was so cold, I could feel it even more. I quickly looked around me and saw that the ground around me was destroyed. Smiling, I put my hands up and both my knees on the ground.
The duo then walked up to me; Lance then held out his hand which I helped myself get up.
"Thank you for the battle," I said. "It was my loss,"
"The pleasure was all mine, thank you for the battle," Lance replied.
"I admit my defeat, shall we shake on it?" I put my right hand out to Lance.
"I think we shall," Lance was about to shake my hand before mine began to tremble and pull back.
My mouth began to tremble before it said, "I can still f-fight," I'm not sure why, I couldn't even control it, but it was still there.
"But you said it was you lose Dyestral; you meant that right?"
"I did, no you didn't," I backed away, holding my head with both hands. "I can still fight! I can still win!" I could now physically feel my body change; my eyes began to separate from each, with a stretching pain now appearing in some parts of my body.
"Dyestral, control yourself!" Sasha yelled at me. "Don't go into your nightmare side!"
"Who cares about that! But it does. No, I still need to win! I admit my defeat!"
"What's happening?"
"Win! Lose! Win! Lose! Win! Lose! Win! Ever since 'that' time, you have one every battle, nothing stood in your way, so kill them now!"
In my fading vision, I could see that Lance was confused before he yelled: "Look Out!". I was launched into the air by the ground being destroyed. My transformation stopped, and I reverted to normal. I landed with Sasha and Lance right next to me, except something was wrong.
Lance began to cry, before muttering my old name and collapsing on the floor. Sasha had a different expression; her face had the emotion of anger.
"How- he- he killed you!"
I looked at the man myself and saw that the man in front of me was Frederick, as I remembered, he was the last person I was angry at, which made me connect the dots. My chains disappeared into my body, and I ran at the person, knowing who it is. Our fists met, and I began to smile.
"It's been a long time, Ren,"
"Indeed it has, Dyne."
