《The Demon Child - Awakening》Chapter 72 - Time

“Why are you telling me this?" Lance asked. "Something that someone of your calibre barely got any information on?"
“Because of I trust you, as well as him,"
Lance, Rowan and I were walking around the castle. The teachers had suddenly announced and incursion to the castle, most probably that both the missions can go ahead both white and black dome. I asked Jododam and he said that if I am trusted with this information, and I could keep it secret, or tell others, others who could aid out the cause.
Rowan was afraid, yes he had Kirigaya, but I’ve never seen him fight. I’m not sure how the king plans to execute us, but one thing is for certain he wouldn’t stand a chance alone.
Lance, on the other hand, can fight for himself, I’ve seen him do it. I told Lance to read my mind, telling him the information without talking. Last night, I relayed the mission to Rowan, he took the realization quite well. When I was away, he had been training with Alicia, and I was glad she took on another pupil other than me.
“But why would the king do this?” Rowan asked.
“I don’t know, but I should give you this,”
I placed my hand in my pocket and pulled out two small black spheres and handed them to Rowan and Lance.
“You can show them to any demon who will try and kill you, and they will back down, the reign of the king and Onsice has gone on far enough,”
“But why are the demons doing all this? I mean, hasn’t the king had a peaceful reign.”
“Daishin, your hometown, it had a drought last year, correct?”
“Yeah, so what about it,”
“The army heated the land, causing much less food for everyone in there, now tell me Lance, how many people died that winter due to starvation?”

“Eighteen out of a town with a few hundred, but that doesn’t make any sort of…” He grew silent.
“Rowan, your town was attacked, before you were abducted, correct?” I asked him.
“Y-yeah,” He stuttered.
“How were they dressed? What did your attackers wear?”
Rowan looked over to a guard, and his eyes widened.
“Instead of going through the town, they burnt it to the ground and placed a bridge on top of it, all because one nobleman didn’t like it there,”
“Ninety-two reigns has corrupted what was a great country, but why?”
“He has too much power, my adoptive father Jododam, was taken away from his work in Antral to work in Antrite, as the king took hundreds of demons who were law-abiding citizens and began to execute them, the king of Antral finally told Jododam not too long ago,”
“But why!” Lance yelled.
“Because he wanted to create soldiers like me and Rowan, he wanted power, keeping a personality which is split, between the nice king, or a tyrant who demolishes anyone who second-guessed his rule,”
By the time I told both of them the story, it was time to eat. I didn’t bring anything, but Lance took out a small sandwich wrapped in a paper bag, meanwhile, Rowan was having some sort of soup in a canteen, staring at my missing arm.
“Don’t look at it,” I said.
“Sorry Dyestral, it’s just that, you know, you’re a demon and you haven’t healed it in what, a week?”
“Most likely, it won't grow back, same as what allows me to see colour in my right eye,” I placed my left hand over my eye, which had a patch placed on it.
“How did you get them?” Lance asked. “I know it takes a lot to get you, so who was it?”
“A demon who was fused with metal and machinery, I defeated him, and his master who tried to kill me as well,”

“Can you still use your chain on your right stump?” Lance asked.
“I still can, which I am glad, my main weapon is still intact,"
They both ate in silence. All of these students I barely knew, in the almost entire semester, didn’t even know what has happened. I was now handicapped, but I was still the most powerful person in the school.
Three minutes had passed, before someone else finally noticed my arm, we locked eyes. He had jet black hair, emerald eyes, and a look on his face which didn't match his aura. I gritted my teeth at the cocky bastard before I heard Rowan tell me his concerns.
“Dyestral, that guys going to challenge you, he knows who you are and with your missing limb, he thinks it’s an easy picking,”
“Don’t worry, I didn’t freeze an entire island in a week just so I could get my ass handed by someone who got in because of the extra schools,”
“But he might play dirty, he might go after me or Lance”
“True, but you know what's going to happen, I know Lance can handle it, and you have Kirigaya.
“Kirigaya..?" Lance stopped for a moment. "Oh..."
“Spoke to you then didn’t he?” I smirked at Lance.
We paid no mind to the boy until he pulled out a wooden sword which came out of a wooden hilt strapped to his belt. He threw it to me, I instinctively caught it, looking into his eyes with disgust.
“You’ve been gone for most of the year, and yet somehow you still have some of the highest scores,” The boy coughed.
“I have family matters to attend, it’s that simple,” I stood up, using the sword as support.
“Yeah, and I don’t care, we went through the barracks incursion, and now I feel like fighting someone, you!”
“Very well, Lance, may you be the referee?”
“I would be glad to,” He stood up and went between me and the black-haired brat.
“The duel between Dyestral Blutrot and... Carlos Herrschaft will now begin!”
Carlos did some tricks with his sword, with a cocky smile and his eyes glowing emerald. I closed my eyes when Lance began to count down, three, two, one. I heard Carlos yell as he came at me, he swung his sword and missed. I raised my left hand, with the wooden stick in it, and I hit him on the head, knocking him out.
“Winner!” Lance yelled.
I opened my eyes and saw that Carlos was indeed not incapacitated as I thought. He was grabbing my ankles, making me unable to leave.
“Not yet you! I’m not letting go, you cocky bastard!” He tried to amplify his aura, trying to scare me.
“The reason why I get good grades is that I study, the reason I’m away from school is none of your business, and finally, calling me cocky when you tried to start a duel with a newly handicapped person, so tell me, how am I cocky?” I smiled, amplifying my aura and concentrating it around my body.
After Carlos felt it, he fainted, foaming at the mouth. I saw a guard, with silver armour appear out of the shadows. I stepped forth, following the guard, Rowan did the same. I looked back on Lance and did a small wave not looking back.
Rowan and I knew what was happening when no one else there didn’t. That the capital and country of Onsice was about to end. A chapter in Antrite was about to unfold, and I would be at the centre of it all.
