《The Demon Child - Awakening》Chapter 85 - City

Alicia and I flew in the same direction for another three days, from dawn till dusk, we flew underneath the clouds. After flying for so long, Alicia finally said that it was time for us to land. I folded my wings and glided down towards a slope on the mountain range.
Alicia appeared to my right, and she began to walk down. I followed behind her and kept silent, what was this place she wanted to visit or to stay at. Was it to train me, or visit an old friend, dead or alive.
I tried to ask Kirigaya, but he didn’t answer, either he was sleeping, dormant, refused to answer, or didn’t know. Despite my unknowingness, something was similar about this place, which then it hit me, these mountains were quite similar to that memory of Kirigaya and Dysan, and for some reason, I believe that it was a factor of why we’re here.
We walked until it became night, then Alicia stopped walking, turning around and covered me with a cocoon of light. I closed my eyes and heard a sound similar to clothes ripping before I heard a buzzing, and the sound of the ripping reversed.
Alicia reversed the cocoon and placed her hand over my mouth, tumbling into some trees. Where we once were, it was a rocky wasteland, so where did these trunks of wood appear? I kept quiet and even controlled my body temperature to make it easier on her.
I heard two quick swoosh’s overhead, and daring to look up, I saw two black figures which whizzed through my vision. They were slow enough for me to see their body, a slender figure like a snake, with also two wings, undoubtedly, they were in fact dragonoids.
“It seems that they're gone for now, in another ten minutes we better hide again,” Alicia began to walk through the shrubbery.
“This place is it?”
“A branch off from Antrite, not in the soul world or Antral, this is the home, the place of dragonoids,”

“That’s why your species is so rare, most of them live in…” I didn’t know the name.
“Entan, that is what they called it last time I was here, which was… half a millennia ago,”
“After you left you trained in that lake for centuries, am I correct?”
Alicia nodded. “But I walked there, becoming a monk of some sort, training my body and mind, waiting for something, someone, a sign, and finally, you and Kirigaya came, as well as Rowan,” Alicia clenched her fists.
I placed my hand on her shoulder. “There was nothing you could’ve done; now since this place is inhabited only be your species, it would probably be taboo for any other species including demons, humans, beasteals and spirits to wander and look at these lands,”
“True, now if nothing was tampered with, they should be right here,” Alicia knelt.
“What should be there?”
I heard a click, and Alicia put her arm into the ground, pulling out a large dusty hooded robe, handing it to me, grabbing one herself. With some more tampering, she finally finished, and we began to move, again stopping as more scouts flew over.
This happened for a few more hours, and during that time, I had covered my entire body with diamonds all linked, trying to give out a look like a Dragonoid. As long as I kept my head down, the two of us should be able to sneak into the major population of Entan.
By the time day came, Alicia and I had made our way to a large crater, and I looked at it, being amazed. Houses filled the entirety of it, as far as the eye could see, it was beautiful, Alicia then explained what it was.
“Five hundred years ago, I fought with the king of Entan, a wind dragon named Sturm, and we clashed until I defeated him, he was my friend, my lover, I was his queen, but he wanted to create a war against the five races, I had to stop him,”

“Was he influenced by-?”
“No, by my knowledge, Dysan can’t make it here, but it was still so sad for me to kill him,”
“Did you, perhaps, have any children?”
Alicia nodded “Three eggs, I’m not sure they survived though, but this was our battlefield, I was so sad when I plunged my sword into his heart, hearing his last words also killed me,”
I nodded and again placed my hand on her, telling her to hold on. I turned to lightning and Alicia and I teleported into a barren street. Dawn had just arrived, and by what I guessed, Dragonoids are like us humans, which would usually sleep through the night.
We made out way into an alley and waited for the street to become lines of shops before we decided to go out. There were no hard stares, no suspicion, and everyone went by their day. The only weird thing for me was that all of these people were dragonoids of many colours and sizes.
They only had one different source, which seemed to be relevant to their skin. There, Alicia and I made our way out of the shop, with Alicia buying two slices of apple pie, one for me, and the other for her. I quickly ate the portion I was given and was wondering what Alicia was up to.
People seemed to be on edge, so Alicia and I made our way to the inn. When we walked in, there were no customers at the bar, which could’ve held about five dozen people. Alicia paid for a single room, and she were given the key to it.
We both made our way up silently and entered the room. It was a single wooden square, with a little cupboard to store items and a bed made for two. I put a sack of what Alicia gave me on top of the cupboard and a blood vial which Azure had given me when we last met.
I popped over the vial and drank it, even after four days of recovering, the battle with the king still hadn’t worn off. Taking off my coat and stretching my wings, Alicia looked at me, deciding to do the same.
After the two of us stretched, I asked Alicia about what was happening.
“Why did you buy from the vendors? Aren’t we supposed to keep a low profile for who knows what?” I asked her.
“Yes, but that was all a part of my plan Dyestral, in fact, if someone like a vendor or an innkeeper sees something suspicious like us, they’ll call for the-” Alicia was cut off with a knock of the door. “That was fast,”
Alicia made her way to the door, and I quickly put on my cloak instinctively, standing in front of the cupboard. When Alicia opened the door, it revealed that a large dragonoid, based on his colours, seemed to have the source of fire in front of the door, with two earth dragonoids behind him.
“Greeting guards, how may I help you today?” Alicia asked.
“Ex dragonoid queen Alicia, you are under arrest for treason against the sacred rules of Entan, your judgment for you and your accomplice will be held by the nine elementals,” Alicia was then cuffed, with me being done right afterwards.
The two of us were carried and began to fly into the middle of the crater, where a massive castle laid. I’m not sure what Alicia was doing, but I trusted her with my life, and I wondered why she was doing this, but I was ready to fight, no matter what.

Cursed Forest
This is a high fantasy story with horror elements, featuring the map-maker and half-elf Aspen, and his friend Sekafi, a hyena-like humanoid as they are sent on a mission to map out unknown territory and encounter a monster. Soon they're involved in something larger and more dangerous than they ever wanted. What happens next, you'll find out when you read. This is the first story I'm publishing here on RoyalRoad. I wanted to try this site out since it's more geared towards fantasy. I've been at Wattpad for about 2 years under the same name, but since I'm not writing romance I haven't gotten much steam there. This is my latest story, and it's also published on Wattpad in the book called Short Stories. I wanted to start with something new and unfinished here. I'll try and update at least once every other week, sometimes more often. ~RiisingNovels
