《Chain Worlds: Rise of Three》Interlude: Awakening

Fire, lord of all dragons and guardian of the First City, Arthemia, followed the call, one of its kin was calling for the dragons to join in a council.
The minds of all dragons in Guidance would be joining them, a call as this was not ignored.
“Who called for this gathering?” The rough voice of Earth shook the minds of the dragons around him, power like the Old Ones possessed tended to send ripples of change across countries, even as spirits they changed the world around them.
“I did.” A voice sounded from everywhere at once.
“Shadow? What is the meaning of this?” Fire asked, careful not to harm the minds of his children around him.
“This is the beginning my friends.” The voice giggled as pictures began to form in the middle of the assembled dragons. Fire stirred, this was not something that had already happened.
“I have gathered you here to show you the pieces of Future I have gathered!” The images were blurry, bits and pieces nothing constant but ever changing.
“What is this?” Water asked as it’s ghostly shape drew closer to the images before them.
The images changed and became clearer, rivers were rushing through the lands, blood red as their water swept away the great cities of dragons.
Corpses littered the ground as something with Black scales descended from the sky, a dragon, larger than even Fire was.
Darkness seemed to follow as ice crystals formed on the ground, Fire felt something it had never felt before, fear as the enormous creature spit blue flames into the sky. The screams of thousands sounded as the fire parted the clouds above them and gave way to a starry night.
Against the moons light more shadows could be seen growing larger, slowly at first but then faster until their shadow blocked out the entire sky above them.

Feathers fell to the ground as doors opened and yellow light shone upon the lonely dragon.
The images faded and Fire was searching for Shadow, this had raised more questions than it had answered.
“What is the meaning of this?” Thundered Sky, “Another of your riddles? What have you shown us here? Answer me?” The other minds were now asking as well, waves of power were sent through the gathering and the younger dragons had to retreat not to be destroyed by the uncontrolled forces unleashed.
“I have shown you what I saw, just like we agreed upon when we raised the barriers. I was to bring to you what images I could find of the future and I have, what you do with this is not a problem of mine.” Fire sighed, the future was not something to be seen, these images could just as well be without any meaning. Just as they could show the fate of the entire world.
The dragon was strange, usually dragons grew with power, their appearance reflecting the part of the natural order they guarded.
Fire, had red and yellow scales and was the largest among his kin. Water was longer but thin, a snake like being that dwelled in the oceans. Earth had a sturdy build and scales like rocks, when sleeping he was often mistaken for a small mountain.
Yet the black scaled dragon had shown nothing familiar, lacking the characteristic horns of an elder it had to be young, younger than Fire’s youngest son, not even a millennia old.
Its growth however told of unprecedented power.
“How far is this future you saw?” Fire asked and the others quieted down.
The form of Shadow, dragon of Light and Darkness combined, appeared before him, formed so much like a human Fire was not sure it was his kin at first.

“The dark one will be born soon… I do not know when, but it will happen with the death of one of the old ones.” No sound could be heard after Shadow had ended.
“A death? We are the pillars of this world, killing us would destroy the balance we forged millennias ago! Nothing and nobody could or would do something like that!”
Life raised its voice and power swept through the ranks, the dragon was the first to discover the way to keep the balance of his powers and one of the most influential dragons in Guidance, maybe even the world.
“Taking the life of a dragon would send nature into a spiral of self destruction, in less than a millennia the powers that we control would tear apart everything. Nobody here would risk that.” Agreement was being murmured the ranks cooled down again.
“Your prophecies cannot be accurate, the pictures defy reason are are merely a translation of the information you got through your own mind.
Everything you see is tainted with your own goals, so spare us your prophecy of doom.”

Advent of the Mindfire Mage: A Challenger's Return Story
Updates MWF, 6PM EST! Not so long ago, a story was posted on Webnovel, one that fired my imagination unlike almost anything before or since. It was known as The Challenger's Return: Rebirth of the Rainbow Mage. However, 150 chapters in, the author NightWind, who I'd personally interacted with and begun to consider a true friend, vanished from the internet without a trace. And so, I have acted upon my fervent desire to pick up his torch, to refuse to let his world that stirred such passion in me die. Read below about my own take on The Challenger's Return. Was Lheticus summoned to the Tower by chance, or by choice? Either way, with the new power he wins, he won't hesitate to burn anyone who seeks to keep him from his true love to cinders, and with a unique ability of the highest potential, he may just succeed, but he's just as likely to burn himself down. And as it turns out, the latter case may be woven into his very destiny...can that destiny be changed? And if it is, what will be the repercussions for the Tower? (You may want to read a fair amount of the original Challenger's Return before starting this, as, particularly in the early chapters, many things that are laid out in it are glossed over in this story.)
