(Achilles' Pov)
" Bye dad, come back soon," I called out to dad, who was currently boarding a medium-sized-sized boat.
He was going to another Island to buy certain supplies that we ran out of. Unfortunately, since we lived on a remote island we didn't have an infinite supply of food and materials.
Due to this, every couple of months dad would have to go to another island to buy everything we would need. He'd buy everything in bulk so it would last us a longer time than a small purchase would.
" Dear, don't forget to buy everything we need." Mom said to dad as she handed him a list of what to buy. She made sure dad didn't forget anything we might need by going over all the items on the list with him.
" Don't worry I won't. Alright, you two, I'll be back in a few days so take care of yourselves until then," He spoke to us as the ship started moving. We waited at the port until we couldn't see the ship he was on anymore. Then we both went home.
" Hey, mom. How come you don't talk about Grandpa and Grandma?" I asked as we continued walking towards our home. She didn't speak right away, but she had a look that made it seem like she was reminiscing about something.
" My relationship with your grandfather is quite complicated. As for your grandmother, I never had the chance to properly speak to her since she died when I was still a very young child." She said to me as we reached the house.
" Achilles, have I ever told you about what a Celestial Dragon is?" Mom asked me. I said no to her as she had never told me what they were, my only knowledge of them was from my past life.

After hearing me say no to her question, mom looked like she was having an internal battle on if she should tell me about them or not.
* Sigh*
" I didn't really want to tell you this without your father being present. But I guess life doesn't always give you what you want."
" What I'm going to tell you is really going to change your view on this world. I trust you'll be able to handle it, but I also don't want to overdo it so I'll stick to the basics." She spoke as she let out a weary sigh once again.
Before she started, she motioned for me to sit on the sofa in our living room.
Additionally, she also told me to not interrupt her at any point during her tale. I hastily agreed as I wanted to hear her thoughts on her own kind. Once we were both comfortably seated, and mom was sure I wouldn't interrupt her, she started her tale.
" Now let's start with how the Celestial Dragons came to be.
" Around 800 years ago, 20 royal families from different islands formed an alliance which would go onto form the current World Government.
" After the alliance was formed, 19 of the 20 royal families relocated to the Holy Land of Mary Geoise. Which Is a city built at the top of the Red Line at the halfway point of the Grand Line. Its location is referred to as "The Center of the World."
"The only family that declined to relocate to Mary Geoise was the royal family of the Alabasta Kingdom.
" To be one-hundred-percent honest, even I don't know why the royal family of the Alabasta Kingdom didn't want to join the others in Mary Geoise. Though if not joining the other families was the right or wrong move I can't tell.
" On one hand they managed to keep their humanity, on the other, they lost a ton of power."

" But continuing on our long-winded tale, the next important piece of information you should know is that all of the current Celestial Dragons are actually direct descendants of the creators of the World Government.
" As the descendants of such influential people, they were given the title of " Celestial Dragons" and are also referred to as the " World Nobles".
" Due to this, the World Nobles have the highest authority within the World Government. And because the World Government is pretty much the ruling body of the entire world, they possess nearly unlimited power over the people of this world.
" They are free to do whatever they please without consequences, even if they commit heinous crimes they will face no retribution. If they are threatened in any way they have the power to call a Marine Admiral on the offending party."
" Your father has already explained to you what a Marine Admiral represents. But let me say just say it once more. They represent the highest battle power within the Marines, and they are true monsters whose clashes can destroy entire islands at a time."
After giving me the basic run-down she told me of some other crimes that the World Nobles committed, but she didn't delve into anything too bad, as she probably didn't want to frighten me as I still had the body of a child.
" Even with my special heritage, I would be unable to change the ways of the others, if I ever tried to." Mom said to me.
I nodded along with everything she was saying until she got to her so-called 'special heritage'.
" Mom, what do you mean by your special heritage?" I asked since this is the first time I ever heard about it.
" Your great grandfather, you see is one of the Five Elder Stars." Mom said to me dropping that out of nowhere. My brain couldn't comprehend what she just said for a few minutes. Mom taking my shock as confusion proceeded to elaborate on what the Five Elder Stars were.
" The Five Elders are a group of the highest-ranking Celestial Dragons that make up the head of state for the World Government.
They essentially hold the greatest authority over the entirety of the world. Far more than even the normal Celestial Dragons" Mom said to me.
"It's because of your great grandfather that I'm who I am as a person. And if it wasn't for him, I don't think I would be alive to be with your father.
" He raised me since I was a kid which made me quite different from the rest of my kind. He trained me to replace him as the next Elder Star. But I betrayed his trust and hope when I married your father." Mom spoke as her voice took a melancholic tone.
" Hey mom, do you ever regret giving up your status?" I asked her.
" Even though I miss your great grandfather, what I have now is far greater than any power I could have as a Celestial Dragon." Mom said while hugging me. I hugged her back before I noticed her eyes suddenly gleamed red for a second before the gleam went away.
" Dear, would you stay here for a little bite. There's some trash I gotta take out." Mom said with a scary smile on her face.
She went outside the house once more warning me not to come outside until she tells me to. I quickly ran to the window where I could see a large pirate ship on the shore of the island.
I didn't worry about mom's safety since dad told me no one in the North Blue is even remotely capable of hurting her. Rather I was excited to see mom in action. I wanted to see the power of someone who was once considered a successor to an Elder Star.

Hawkin. Bronze Ranked Brewer.
07/11/2022 Update: We're currently at the end of the 7th arc, out of 10. My plan is to continue to publish a chapter at least 4-5x a week for the next few months. Synopsis: Hawkin found his place in the world, far from humans and monsters. He abandoned the adventuring life long ago and left civilization, opting for peace and isolation instead. After ten years out in the northern forests, he befriends a strange creature and his life changes. A traveling trio of monks then show up in Hawkin's woods and share with him the best beer he's ever had. After that beer, Hawkin wants to do nothing but accept the brewer's path and brew. This story is intended to be slow and easy. It involves a slow progression of power and brewing more powerful beers. There is occasional conflict. Thanks for reading, and I really hope this story relieves a bit of stress from your days. Note: I'm behind on Audio, but I hope to catch up soon. Linked Audio is always free. Besotted
Jericho never thought about gaining superpowers. Like everyone else in society, he simply expected his abilities to manifest on their own, but they never did. With the help of his doctor, it looks like Jericho finally hit a breakthrough, and after a few years of being powerless, things might start looking up for him. Join Jericho and others as they interact in this world where everyone has extraordinary abilities. ___________________________________________________________________________________________________ HIATUS NOTE (Please read): Starting June, I will be going on a summer hiatus (around 3 months) to focus on my future career and set myself up to succeed in school. I will still be writing in the meantime and creating a backlog, but I won't be posting chapters. I apologize for this. I wish there was another way. Note: This story has multiple POVs, but the main one is Jericho. The MC grows and develops throughout the story and isn't instantly OP. I try to write ~1500 words per chapter but I write according to what I feel is suitable. (Could be more. Could be less). The content warning tags are mostly for flexible writing, but do expect it or something of the sort. This is a story suitable for older teens and adults. Schedule: New chapter every other Sunday (sometimes Monday if I'm a bit behind).

Wolf's Oath Book 1: Oath Sworn
In Aralt ‘Wolf” syr Tremayne’s world, skyships sail above tidal extremes, crystal swords are Tuned, and the soul-touched inspire both awe and fear. The latter doesn’t phase him, he carries a Tuned blade, and as for the ships…Aralt prefers to keep his feet on solid ground. Having finally laid to rest the ghosts of his past, he is unprepared when the grave gives one of them back. To his shame, it isn’t the one he wants. Lian Kynsei’s arrival upends Aralt’s life, but there is nothing he can do about it. Oath-bound to Lian, the last of a priestly clan, he is now defender of the scion of a faith he no longer shares. But the boy Aralt once knew is gone. In his place is a reckless, traumatized teen who can light the sky on fire. The more they get reacquainted, the less Aralt likes him—and the feeling is mutual. As revenge against a common enemy boils in his blood, Aralt struggles to do his oath-sworn duty and secure sanctuary for the heir-apparent to a mystical dynasty. But instead of safety, every step brings them closer to danger: sky pirates, cannibals, and a relentless soulless scourge unleashed by their enemy are all intent on killing Lian—or worse. Death, Aralt realizes, might be the greater mercy. ---------------------------------------------------------- What to Expect: Character-driven Plot Novel Pacing (which I accept isn't typical for serials) Elaborate Worldbuilding (you gotta pay attention) Soul-bonded Swords Sentient Wolves Longish Chapters What Not to Expect: Litrpg (sorry!) Harem (not sorry!) Magic System Short Chapters Dancing Bears (at least so far) Seriously, this is a second-world low fantasy/science-fantasy featuring a strong, but flawed male protagonist, a cheeky teenage boy that’s driving him crazy, a wee bit o’ Scots flavor, and a whole lot of culture clashing. I’m preparing to relaunch this story on Kindle once the second and third books are ready and I’d love some feedback as I move through those revisions. I'm serious about the feedback. All comments are welcome. I'll name a characters after you. And kill them, if you want. :) Oh, did I mention soulless assassins and cannibals? Yeah, Aralt’s day is not getting any better. cover image by brosedesignz
